Abstract

Indonesia is a country that is very prone to natural disasters. Nutritional problems that usually arise in natural disasters are malnutrition in the age group of infants and toddlers who do not get breast milk (ASI) because the child is separated from his mother when a natural disaster occurs. The worsening nutritional status of a group of people due to frequent delays in food aid and limited food availability in evacuation sites can exacerbate existing conditions. Nutrition problem is essentially a public health problem, however, the prevention cannot be done with a medical approach and health services. The cause of the emergence of nutritional problems is multi-factor, therefore the tackling approach involves various related sectors. Emergency nutrition management during a disaster becomes the first priority where food and nutrition services are an integral part of emergency management. Nutrition counseling provided by nutrition officers during a disaster emergency has significant meaning. Extension is an effort to change human behavior, both individuals and society so that it can create mental attitudes and the ability to solve problems it faces in order to improve and maintain good nutrition. The hope of this effort is that people can understand the importance of food and nutrition, so that they are willing to behave and act according to nutritional norms.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the eating patterns and behaviors of mothers in relation to the nutritional status of fishermen’s families in Rugemuk Village. This research is a quantitative study with a descriptive design. The sampling technique used in this study is simple random sampling. The results of the study indicate that the percentage of toddlers with incomplete immunization status is still higher than those with complete immunization status. This is one of the reasons why mothers may not be able to monitor their children’s growth and development effectively. The study also found that there are still many toddlers with poor nutritional status compared to those with normal nutritional status.

Abstract

In the society’s perception, health services still depend on the patient’s status. High-class patients will be given good service, while low-class patients tend not to get the service they should. This study aimed to find out the quality of service of nurses at Prof. Dr. M. Ildrem Medan Psychiatric Hospital, whether they have carried out their duties by Permenkes Number 26 of 2019 concerning the Implementation of Nursing Practice, and whether they meet the service quality aspects of SERVQUAL theory by Parasuraman. This research used qualitative methods with phenomenological research design. The informants in this study consisted of 5 nurses from different fields, namely 2 nurses of the Deputy Head of the Acute Room, 1 nurse of the Deputy Head of the Chronic Room, 1 nurse of the Head of the UPIP Room, and 1 nurse of the Head of the Mental Poly Room. The data in this study were obtained through two stages, namely observation and interviews conducted for two days in March 2024. The data obtained were analyzed by collecting all data, simplifying the data, showing the results, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the nurses of Prof. Dr. M. Ildrem Medan Psychiatric Hospital have provided services by aspects of SERVQUAL theory, but there are still obstacles in the physical form aspect, where hospital facilities are not fully by standard operating procedures, for example, the lack of completeness of the patient's activity of daily living, the minimum number of nurses, the roof of the building is starting to wear out, the hospital application is not running, and nurse equipment that needs to be repaired, such as drug trolleys. SERVQUAL theory is the basis for providing health services to the community that can foster positive perceptions of the hospital.

Abstract

Health Human Resources is a subsystem in the National Health System that has a major role in the implementation of health achievement efforts. The availability and quality of adequate Health Human Resources are very influential in health development and health system management, so quality and quantity of human resource performance are needed. The purpose of this research is to find out the problems in the development of the availability of health human resources in the health sphere. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive, using secondary data as a factual report to interpret the state of the object being studied. The results of the study show that the availability of human resources in the North Sumatra Health Center is not evenly distributed, this is seen from the distribution or recruitment of human resources that is still not optimal with the number of midwives (+10,910), nurses (+3,815), primary care doctors/doctors (+1,022) and pharmacists (+24) being classified as excess but the availability standards in each health center with three categories have not been met properly. It is necessary to have an analysis process that is more optimal in planning options according to the minimum standards of the Health Center so that the availability of Health Human Resources is responsible and balanced in the distribution rate. The current level of health human resources with curative efforts is more dominant in number with resources with promotive and preventive efforts because the production of health workers with these efforts is still low.

Abstract

Background: In 2018, 32% of teenagers in Indonesia experienced anemia due to iron deficiency. Adolescence is one of the periods characterized by accelerated growth and development, leading to increased iron requirements in the body. Healthy and nutritious foods, including snacks, can be significant contributors to meeting the nutritional needs of iron-deficient teenagers. Red beans and raisins are among the food ingredients that can increase iron levels in the body; therefore, these food ingredients can be processed into the filling of a mochi that contains relatively high iron content. Objectives: The aim of this study is to determine the acceptance and iron content of red bean and raisin-filled mochi. Methods: This research is an experimental study. Acceptance testing was conducted organoleptically using a hedonic test method. The acceptance testing was conducted on 30 untrained panelists, namely female teenagers from SMAS Kesuma Bangsa Londut, and nutritional content analysis was performed at the Medan Industrial Research and Standardization Institute Laboratory. This research was conducted from January to March 2024.Results: Organoleptic test results showed that the panelists liked the color, aroma, texture, and taste of the red bean and raisin-filled mochi. The iron content test results in 120 grams of the product showed 37.4 mg. The red bean and raisin-filled mochi given to the panelists was 30 grams, meaning it contained 9.35 mg of iron. Conclusions: Red bean and raisin-filled mochi have good acceptance among teenage girls and also contain relatively high iron content.

Abstract

Early childhood is one groups with the highest risk of nutritional problems because in this phase the first rapid growth process takes place. The impact of malnutrition includes impaired growth and development, decreased productivity and resistance to disease, impaired brain structure and function, and behavioral changes in the next life. Nutritional problems are directly caused by food intake and history of infection, while the availability and utilization of health services, family parenting, food availability and household sanitation will indirectly increase the risk. The research was conducted using a mixed method approach. In the early stages of the study, nutritional status measurements of all toddlers will be carried out followed by extracting information on intake history and other related information needed. Furthermore, information will be extracted from informants to provide answers related to the social situation of the community and individual experiences. Toddlers with normal nutritional status are nurtured with a Positive deviance pattern in the form of feeding, parenting, hygiene, and good health service utilization. Expanding the knowledge and ability of mothers in implementing of effective parenting for toddlers is important to improve the attitude and behavior of mothers to obtain good nutritional status and prevent early childhood from experiencing growth failure conditions such as stunting.
