Abstract

Abstract

The echo chamber phenomenon on social media is increasingly shaping law enforcement dynamics in Indonesia, particularly in the context of "no viral no justice," the tendency for authorities to respond more quickly to viral cases than to those that do not receive public attention. This study aims to identify relevant topics in the study of echo chambers in law enforcement discourse through a case study of "no viral no justice" using a bibliometric mapping approach. The method used is a descriptive, quantitative approach with bibliometric analysis of Google Scholar publications from 2016 to 2025 using Publish or Perish and VOSviewer. The results show a relatively stable publication trend with a primary focus on digital law issues in Indonesia. Cluster analysis identified three main groups: law and regulation as the dominant cluster, social media behavior and dynamics, and global socio-political issues as a minor cluster. These findings confirm that social media-based law enforcement is influenced by political dynamics, ideology, digital ethics, user psychology, and platform architecture. Echo chambers reinforce group bias, narrow information exposure, and accelerate polarization, thus encouraging hoaxes, hate speech, viral justice, and disinformation. Therefore, an interdisciplinary approach, strengthening digital literacy, responsive public communication, and adaptive and transparent platform governance, is needed.

Abstract

Organizational communication culture in Indonesia, especially in Sidoarjo, still faces challenges in the form of ineffective interaction between the village government and the community, which results in low understanding and participation of residents in utilizing administrative services. The purpose of this study is to explain the influence of organizational communication culture of village government on the quality of administrative services in the village. This quantitative study uses a simple random sampling technique in data collection. Primary data collected from 106 village government officials in Sidoarjo Regency as respondents were processed and analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that organizational communication culture has a significant influence of 84.6% on the quality of administrative services, with accountability (66%) and teamwork (46.1%) as the dominant factors that strengthen service quality. In contrast, the variables of community service (-69.2%), openness of communication (-63.5%), and coordination (-65.6%) actually have a negative impact on the quality of administrative services. Based on these findings, the study recommends the need to improve communication culture in village government organizations as a strategic step to improve the quality of administrative services and increase responsiveness to community needs.

Abstract

Social media has become a dominant factor in shaping the political behaviour of Generation Z, especially in the 2024 Presidential Election. This study aims to analyze the influence of information exposure, news content, candidate electability, and social media on the behaviour of Generation Z voters. With an explanatory quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires filled out by 160 University of Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo students, using the multistage cluster random sampling method. The research variables were measured using a Likert scale and tested using multiple linear regression based on SPSS 25. The study results showed that, partially, news content, candidate electability, and social media significantly influenced the behaviour of Generation Z voters, with the most significant contribution coming from social media (30.7%). In contrast, information exposure did not have a significant influence. Simultaneously, the four variables contributed 55.2% to voter behaviour. The study also found that although Generation Z actively uses social media, they tend to be sceptical of political information. In conclusion, social media, candidate electability, and news content are the main factors that influence Generation Z's political behaviour. Therefore, designing a creative and fact-based social media campaign strategy is essential to increase healthy political participation.

Abstract

In the post-reform era, Mandarin radio broadcasts by private stations in Surabaya represent the resurgence of Chinese ethnic identity previously suppressed, yet they trigger diverse receptions within a multicultural society. Employing Stuart Hall's reception theory and the concept of mindfulness in intercultural communication, this study aims to describe audience reception of Chinese ethnic identity in the Strato Mandarin program on Strato FM Surabaya. Using a descriptive qualitative method with Jensen's reception analysis, data were collected through in-depth interviews with active listeners. The findings reveal that the Mandarin broadcast constructs a homogenization of Chinese ethnic identity while raising awareness of Mandarin's importance as a global business tool. The reception among Surabaya's public tends to be positive and mindful, enriching Indonesia's multicultural heritage. This positive acceptance indicates low ego involvement among the audience, minimizing rejection ranges. It is recommended that media continue to proportionally provide space for ethnic minority cultural representation as part of multicultural education and global competitiveness enhancement.
