Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes noise levels caused by traffic activities and generator sets (genset) in the Semarang University environment. Measurements were conducted using descriptive analytical methods by comparing measurement results against noise quality standards according to KepmenLH No.48 of 1996. Data collection was carried out in November 2023 at three location points (in front of Building V, Sports Center, and USM gate) during morning (08.00-08.30), afternoon (12.30-13.00), and evening (17.30-18.00) on weekdays and weekends. Measurement results showed traffic noise levels on weekdays reached 88.3 dB in front of the Sports Center, 85.3 dB at Building V, and 82.1 dB at the USM gate. On weekends, the highest noise level reached 82 dB. Generator noise measurements in stationary conditions reached 108.4 dB and increased to 112.4 dB during loading. The highest vehicle volume occurred during weekday evenings, reaching 3,176 vehicles/hour. Research results indicate that noise levels in the campus environment are above the permitted threshold of 55 dB for educational areas. The study recommends the construction of noise barriers and evaluation of generator placement to reduce noise impact on campus activities.

Abstract

A steel truss bridge is a structure constructed from a series of interconnected steel bars. The loads received by this structure are analyzed and transferred to the steel bars that make up the structure. Factors that need to be analyzed in bridge construction include the location and surrounding environmental conditions. After identifying the type of soil and bedrock beneath the surface, the materials used must meet strength or durability test standards before the bridge can be operated. The materials used must comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). In addition to the factors mentioned above, the bridge must undergo a feasibility evaluation. Among the various tests used to evaluate bridge strength, one is vibration testing. The vibration test method, when compared to the load test method, shows higher cost efficiency and does not cause damage to the structure.

Abstract

The Silugonggo River is located in Pati Regency, Central Java, this river is included in the Juwana Watershed Area. Most of the residents around the Silugonggo river work as farmers, where every dry season they are faced with a lack of water which results in a decrease in crop yields. Based on the existing problems, an optimization study was carried out on effective planting schedules and patterns in the surrounding area. The area of the irrigation area is determined to be 12 km long, with a radius of 1.5 km on the right and left sides of the river, with an area of 4,891 Ha. The methodology used, including Hydrological Analysis, includes calculating regional average rainfall (Thissen Polygon), effective rainfall (Weibull Probability), Maximum rainfall, mainstay discharge (Weibull), climatological analysis using Evapotranspiration (Modified Penmann), and Percolation, then carried out Analyze water requirements for plants and determine planting pattern schedules. The results of the calculations show that the schedule and planting pattern for Alternative I starts on November 1, because the amount of water required is less than the other alternatives. There are several months where water availability is not able to meet the water needs of the entire DI, this occurs in August II, September I and II.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PkM) conducted by the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Semarang, in collaboration with PT. Valentara Sarana Raya and the community of Godong Village aimed to improve the drainage function along the Semarang–Godong road and enhance the technical skills of construction workers through training and mentoring in the installation of precast u-ditch drains. The program was carried out from September to December 2025, with the main field activity on October 24, 2025. A total of 15 workers participated in the training, showing an increase in average scores from 56.7 to 88.5, or a 56.1% improvement, particularly in technical installation and occupational safety practices. Technically, a 120-meter u-ditch channel was successfully installed in compliance with the Ministry of Public Works Regulation No.14/PRT/M/2018, reducing flooding by up to 90%. The activity also established the “Godong Drainage Task Force (POKJA Drainase Godong)” to ensure continuous maintenance. The program outputs include a publication in the journal, online media coverage, a documentation video on the LPPM USM YouTube channel, and a registered intellectual property poster titled “Technical Assistance for U-ditch Installation.” Overall, this PkM successfully improved drainage infrastructure, enhanced the competencies of local workers, and strengthened community participation, serving as a replicable model of sustainable, community-based implementation of the tri dharma of higher education.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented to address the limited technical knowledge and skills of residents in Kemambang Village regarding the provision of safe drinking water, while also strengthening local water management institutions. The activities were conducted using a participatory approach that combined the ABCD method, demonstrations, practices, and the application of appropriate technology. Evaluation results show an increase in community knowledge from a score of 3.13 to 4.60, and an improvement in technical skills from 2.68 to 4.40 after the training. The establishment of the Village Water Management Group (KPAD) indicates growing social capacity and collective commitment toward sustainable water management. The program also generated economic benefits through the adoption of simple, low-cost filtration systems that reduced household expenses. Overall, the program successfully enhanced community capacity in managing safe drinking water and supported village self-reliance in water service provision.
