Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determinedthe effectiveness ofhealthpromotion by audio visual about breast self examination (BSE) for increasing girl’s knowledge about BSE. The design of thisresearch is Quasy experimentdesigned by Pre-post test with control group weredivided intoexperiment groupandcontrol group. The research was conductedongirl’s inthe “SMAN 2 Pekanbaru”. The total sample are 78peoplewhowere takenby using systematic random sampling techniquesby noticing tothe inclusion criteria. Measuring instruments that usedin both groupsarequestionnairesthat have beentested for validityandrealibility. Analysisis usedunivariateandbivariateanalyzesusing independentanddependentsample ttest. The results showed there was asignificantincreasing intherate ofchange in girl’s knowledge about BSE in experimental grouphas givenhealthpromotionaboutBSE with p(0.000) < α (0,05). It means thathealthpromotionaboutBSE is effectiveforimproving girl’s knowledge about BSE. The results of this research isrecommend to every health care have to giving health promotion about BSE by audio visual to increasing knowledge about BSE. Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the relationship between the implementation of family health care function to nutritional status of children aged under five years in Padang Bulan village, Pekanbaru. This research was quantitative research design with descriptive cross sectional correlational approach. The total of sample were 82 mothers who have children and conducted by accidental sampling. The instrument used weight scale (Kg) ang height scale (Cm) which interpreted by standard of WHO-NCHS (2005) as the variable of nutritional status. The instrument used the questionnaire to measure the function of family health care which had been tested the validity and reliability. This research used univariate analyse to determine the distribution of frequencies and bivariate analyse Kolmogorof Smirnov. The result of this study showed that most of children had good nutritional status and most of mothers had implemented the family health care functions excellently. It showed, there is a relationship of the  implementation of family health care functions to nutritional status of children aged under five years (p value= 0,014). Based on this result, it is recommended to each mother to improve the nutritional status of children aged by doing the function of health family care well. Abstract

The aim of this research was to determined the factors that affect quality of life diabetes mellitus patient with diabetic ulcers. The design was descriptive correlational design with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling with 30 respondents which was selected based on inclusion criteria. This research used instrument a questionnaire. This research used univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test. The results showed a correlation between age, complications experienced (other diseases), and anxiety quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus with diabetic ulcers (p value 0,011; 0,046 and 0,030) and no correlation between marital status and duration of diseases (p value 0,440 and 0,399). The research recommends diabetic patients with diabetic ulcers to maintain the state of her health condition and keep doing treatment as well as to control the activity, and the diet so the disease get worse so and their quality of life will be better. Abstract

The purpose of study was to compare the quality of life between the elderly people who live in nursing home and elders who live with family. The research method used comparative study. The study was conducted in two population were in nursing home Khusnul Khotimah Pekanbaru on 30 elderly using total sampling and in Labuh Baru Barat village on 30 elderly using purposive sampling. The instrument of the research used a questionnaire have a validity the questionnaire is WHOQOLBREF. The analysis used was univariate using frequency distribution and bivariate analysis using T independent tests. The results of research about quality of life showed that elderly who lived with family have high qulity of life more than elderly in nursing home were 16 elderly (53,3%) in nursing home  and 13 elderly (43,3%) in family. Based on the statistical tests (T independent) results, it is concluded that there is no difference between quaity of life between  elderly people living in nursing home and elderly who lived with family (ρ value 0,198). Based on the result of this result, it is expected to family for give  caring to elderly people and suport that optimal like a give suporting elderly people for routine visite to social service.   Keywords: Elderly, Family, Quality of life, Social Institution

Abstract

The purpose of the research is  to analize the effect of diabetic foot exercises with plastic ball on the level of foot sensitivity in diabetic patients. The research used quasy experiment design with non-equivalent control group which divided into experimental group and control group. Sample of this research is 30 people divided into 15 people as the experimental group and 15 people as a control group. Sample in this research was taken by purposive sampling of techniques sampling which selected based on inclusion criteria. Instruments of this research was using monofilament in both groups to measuring respondent foot sensitivity. The experimental group were given interventions with diabetic foot exercises with plastic ball three times in 1 week. Data then analyzed into univariate and bivariate using dependent sample t test and independent sample t test. The result of the reearch showed that mean level of foot sensitivity before diabetic foot exercises with plastic ball was 8.467 points and mean level of foot sensitivity after diabetic foot exercises with plastic ball was 9.007 point mean an increase in the foot sensitivity after given intervention with p value  0,002 (<0,05). In conclusion diabetic foot exercises with plastic ball are effective against increasing the foot sensitivity in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. The result is expected to be one of the nursing intervention to improve the foot sensitivity for patients with diabetes mellitus type 2. Abstract

This research intends to analyze and find out about factors of phlebitis incidence for infused patient. For that purpose, this research use correlation description as research method and cross sectional as observation method. This research is conducted in Chrysant Medical Hospitalization room, Awal Bros Hospital, Pekanbaru by involving 92 respondents, using purposive sample as sampling method, and observation sheet as measuring instrument. The method of analysis used in this research is both univariate and bivariate data. The result of this test analysis research shows that there is relationship between age and intravenous fluids towards phlebitis with significant influence p value = 0.000, in which elderly and hypertonic fluids affect the phlebitis. Meanwhile, dressing and morbidities are not associated significantly by phlebitis with   p value = 0.643 and p value = 1.00. The result of this research is expected to be reference for hospital, particularly for medical personnel in order to keep consistent implementing procedure and policy ever been applied to prevent phlebitis incidence. Abstract

Breastfeeding is one of the first early childhood development interventions, in order to prepare children for a prosperous future. This research aimed to determine the relationship between breastfeeding patterns with infants aged 6-12 months development at Payung Sekaki Health Center area, Pekanbaru City. A cross sectional correlation research design was used for this study. Purposive sampling techniques were used to a total of 85 mothers with 6-12-month-old infant. Questionnaire and a sheet of the Denver Development Screening Test (DDST) are used as child developmental assessment. Univariate and bivariate analysis with chi-square test showed that 48.2% infants were partially breastfed and 63.5% had a normal development. The results of bivariate analysis showed that the majority of infants with normal development had an exclusive breastfeeding pattern (85.0%) and predominantly breastfed babies are up to 83.3% with p value (0.000) <α (0.05). It can be concluded that there is a connection between breastfeeding pattern and the development of infants aged 6-12 months. It is hoped that health workers can increase their active role by providing health education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding as well as conducting monitoring activities on infant development.  Keywords: Breastfeeding Pattern, DDST, Infant Development

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months to meet the nutritional needs of infants have an important role to the nutritional status of infants. The purpose of the study was to find out the relationship between history of exclusive breastfeeding toward infant’s nutritional status for 6 to 12 months in Payung Sekaki Health Center working area. This study was descriptive correlation with cross sectional approach. The samples in this study were mothers and infants from 6 to 12 months with 94 respondents by using cluster sampling technique. The analyzes were univariate and bivariate using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. The results showed that the majority of respondents were 6-month-old as much as 23.4% with normal birth weight of 96.9%. Maternal age was early adult as much as 86,2% with high school education as much as 72,3%. 69.1% of mothers did not work. The history of exclusive breastfeeding as much as 54.3% and babys nutritional status is in normal nutrition as much as 85.1%. The results of the analysis showed that infants with a history of exclusive breastfeeding tend to have normal nutritional status of 92.2% more than malnutrition and overweight.   Based on the results of statistical tests it showed that there was no relationship between history of exclusive breastfeeding toward infant’s nutritional status for 6 to 12 months (p value = 0.868). The results of this study recommend health workers to provide health education about exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months.   Keywords: Exclusive breastfeeding, infant, nutritional status.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationship of family support with the duration of exclusive breastfeeding in Sidomulyo Public Health Center Pekanbaru. This research uses descriptive correlation design with the cross sectional approach. Respondents in the study were mothers who had infants aged 6-12 months as many as 97 people, that were taken using purposive sampling technique. The measuring tool used was questionnaire with 19 statements for family support variables and 2 statements for the duration of exclusive breastfeeding that has passed validity and reliable testing. Data analysis used was univariate & bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. The results showed that most respondents gave positive family support (50.5%) and the duration of exclusive breastfeeding <6 months (66.0%). Mothers with exclusive breastfeeding duration for 6 months were mothers with positive family support (55.1%). The relationship between family support and mother duration gave exclusive breastfeeding was significant, with p-value (0,000) <α (0,005) OR = 8,591. It is expected that health workers can enhance their active role by providing health education on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and family to always support the mother to do exclusive breastfeeding.Keywords: Duration, exclusive breastfeeding, family support.
