Abstract

Disasters preparedness behavior is influenced by self-efficacy. Self-efficacy affects the resilience and ability of communities in adapting to changes in disaster conditions. In Indonesia there are no instruments for measuring self-efficacy in the context of disasters. Objective: This study aimed to adapt the Indonesian version of the General Self-Efficacy Scale into the context of disasters and test its validity and reliability. The Indonesian version of General Self-Efficacy Scale was adapted culturally then modified into the disaster context and adapted to the research target culture and also tests of the content validity and the construct validity were conducted on 100 residents. The analysis used Pearson product-moment, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis. Reliability testing used internal consistency analysis (Cronbach’s alpha). The Indonesian version of the General Self-Efficacy Scale was in accordance with the context of the disaster and the target culture of the study. Pearson correlation values range from 0.528 to 0.707. The EFA results were formed of 2 factors. Confirmatory factor analysis with 2 factors showed a fit model (p-value = 0.032, SRMR = 0.078, CFI = 0.91). The CFA results with 1 factor showed a fit and very good model (p-value = 0.135, RMSEA = 0.058, SRMR = 0.060, CFI = 0.977). The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient has a value of 0.847. The Indonesian version of the General Self-Efficacy Scale in the context of disaster with a 2-factor model and a 1-factor model shows acceptable validity and reliability for measuring self-efficacy in the face of disasters.

Abstract

Abstract

Political polarization is a complex phenomenon with significant implications for democratic processes worldwide. This study investigates the cognitive mechanisms underlying political reinforcement learning and examines how environmental information influences political decision-making, resulting in diverse political behaviors and beliefs. The methodology employed encompasses descriptive analysis, systematic literature review, and content analysis. Data were sourced from various democratic countries to ensure a comprehensive and diverse perspective. Key findings indicate that both traditional and social media significantly shape political opinions, while cognitive biases and political motivations can lead to divergent interpretations of identical facts, culminating in polarized beliefs. Interventions that enhance cognitive flexibility and metacognitive insight, as well as those promoting civil discourse and reducing intergroup anxiety, were found to be effective in mitigating political polarization. This research provides valuable insights into the cognitive and social dynamics underlying political polarization and proposes strategies to reduce polarization and strengthen democratic institutions. Future research should prioritize the empirical validation of these models and the testing of interventions across diverse cultural and political contexts.

Abstract

In the era of modern agriculture that is increasingly dependent on technology, livestock management has become crucial to increasing efficiency and productivity. An important aspect in livestock management is providing appropriate feed to fattening cattle. Manual monitoring of feed weight is often complex and prone to errors, which can have a significant impact on operational efficiency and result in losses. Accuracy in monitoring feed weight is the key to maintaining optimal health and growth of cattle. Internet of Things (IoT) technology is emerging as an innovative solution to overcome these challenges. The use of Angkong load cells, a tool connected to IoT, allows automatic monitoring of feed weight with a high level of precision. The test results show an error rate close to zero, with a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) of around 0.158%, making the Angkong load cell a reliable tool. With this capability, farmers can monitor cow feed weight in real-time with minimal error rates. This not only increases the operational efficiency of the farm but also optimizes the health and growth of livestock more efficiently, having a positive impact on overall farm productivity. The aim of this research is to monitor the amount of feed given to cows with an adequate level of accuracy. Rickshaw load cells can be well suited for this use due to their ability to handle relatively large weights with fairly good accuracy, but do not necessarily have the level of precision required in laboratory measurements or the pharmaceutical industry.

Abstract

Islamization in the Archipelago became a unique process of Islamic conversion, different from the process of Islamization in other regions in the Middle East. In addition to the role of traders from Arabia, China or India, Islamization in the archipelago was initiated by Sufi masters who sailed with the traders to the archipelago. Through a Sufistic approach, people were attracted to Islam because this religion provides a space for freedom, breaking down the barriers of primordialism and social elitism. Through cognitive liberation, Sufi masters opened the horizons of understanding Islamic teachings without contradicting them with local traditions. Sufi masters are potential figures in social movements in the entire process of Islamization in the archipelago. Through the cognitive liberation approach, Islamic preaching encourages more awareness of Islamic identity to fight ignorance, social injustice, and also colonialism. Islamization with a Sufistic model, ultimately shapes the intellectual-religious perspective of Muslim communities in Indonesia which tends to be moderate and inclusive.
