Abstract

Abstract

The Indonesian government's implementation of a booster vaccination program as part of its COVID-19 response has generated diverse public reactions, particularly on social media platforms like Twitter. This study aims to analyze public sentiment regarding booster vaccines by examining Twitter data to understand the prevailing discourse and attitudes toward this policy. The research employs sentiment analysis, a text mining and processing technique, to classify tweets into positive, neutral, and negative categories. The study utilizes the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm, evaluating its performance through a multi-class parameter assessment. Two multi-class strategies, One-against-one (OAO) and One-against-rest (OAR) are combined with various kernels (Sigmoid, Polynomial, and RBF) to identify the most accurate model for sentiment classification. The results show that the OAO method with the RBF kernel achieves the highest accuracy of 96%, outperforming other combinations like OAO with Polynomial (95.2%) and Sigmoid (93.7%) kernels. Similarly, the RBF kernel performs best with 95.5% accuracy in the OAR approach. Using the optimal model, sentiment analysis classifies 49 tweets as positive, 927 as neutral, and 24 as negative, revealing a predominantly neutral public sentiment with limited positive and negative opinions. In conclusion, this study demonstrates the effectiveness of SVM, particularly the OAO method with the RBF kernel, for sentiment analysis of social media data. The findings provide insights into public perceptions of the booster vaccine program, offering policymakers a data-driven basis for designing targeted communication strategies to address concerns and enhance public acceptance.

Abstract

Background: The response phase is crucial in a disaster, nurses at community health center play a strategic role in disaster response phase preparedness; however, the factors that influence the level of nurse preparedness in the disaster response phase have not been widely studied. Purpose: To identify factors contributing to nurse preparedness during the disaster response phase. Method: A quantitative multicenter study using a cross-sectional design was conducted involving nurses from 27 primary healthcare centers located in disaster-prone regions. Convenience sampling was used to recruit 225 nurses, with data collection taking place between February and March 2023. Instruments included a demographic questionnaire and the Emergency Preparedness Information Questionnaire (EPIQ). Data were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression. Results: A total of 50.9% of nurses had low preparedness. Factors associated with preparedness in the response phase include education level (p=0.002), years of service (p=0.049), training (p=0.001), and disaster experience of serving in disaster (p=0.001). The logistic regression analysis identified the dominant factors in increasing preparedness, which include disaster training (20.6%), professional education level (5.16%), 11-20 years of service (1.39%), male gender (1.34%), and experience of serving in disaster (1.16%). Nurses who have received disaster training have higher preparedness compared to those with BTCLS and BLS training. This predictor is identified to improve response phase preparedness. Nurses can be given disaster training to improve preparedness. Conclusion: The average level of nurse preparedness was categorized as low. The most dominant factor influencing nurse preparedness in the natural disaster response phase was disaster training.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the workload of health personnel in Indonesia, and the risk of burnout has thus doubled. Several instruments exist to assess burnout, but none have been specifically developed for health personnel during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, to close this gap, developing a Pandemic Burnout Inventory for health personnel is important. This study used mixed methods with a sequential exploratory design at five COVID-19 referral hospitals. A total of 30 informants were employed in the qualitative phase, selected using an intensity sampling approach, and 731 respondents in the quantitative phase were obtained in field trials and online questionnaires. Finally, a Pandemic Burnout Inventory was formed with 14 items. The content validity, based on expert judgment, showed very good results. The assessment of item discrimination and construct validity showed good results. The concurrent validity and reliability of the instrument showed fairly good results. In general, the Pandemic Burnout Inventory meets the criteria for a good instrument according to psychometrics: it is objective, standard, valid, and practical. Health care institutions can use this instrument to evaluate and prevent the deterioration of the mental health condition of health personnel handling COVID-19 or similar health crises.

Abstract

Islamization in the Archipelago became a unique process of Islamic conversion, different from the process of Islamization in other regions in the Middle East. In addition to the role of traders from Arabia, China or India, Islamization in the archipelago was initiated by Sufi masters who sailed with the traders to the archipelago. Through a Sufistic approach, people were attracted to Islam because this religion provides a space for freedom, breaking down the barriers of primordialism and social elitism. Through cognitive liberation, Sufi masters opened the horizons of understanding Islamic teachings without contradicting them with local traditions. Sufi masters are potential figures in social movements in the entire process of Islamization in the archipelago. Through the cognitive liberation approach, Islamic preaching encourages more awareness of Islamic identity to fight ignorance, social injustice, and also colonialism. Islamization with a Sufistic model, ultimately shapes the intellectual-religious perspective of Muslim communities in Indonesia which tends to be moderate and inclusive.
