Abstract

Abstract

The effect of separating rare earths from monazite is wastewater containing the radioactive element thorium which is harmful to the environment and living things. A standard method of separating thorium from wastewater is with anion-exchange resin. This study determines the optimum type of anion-exchange resin, resin weight, and contact time to reduce thorium levels in monazite wastewater. The results showed that the optimum exchange rate that occurred in Amberlite IRA402 resin is 57.7%, at 60 minutes and 1 gram. Meanwhile, the optimum exchange rate for Tulsion A23 resin is 50.7%, at 50 minutes and 1 gram. The statistical test showed that there was no significant difference in the resin type and contact time variation, which showed a considerable value >0.05. At the same time there was a substantial difference in resin mass variation with a significant value <0.05. The Duncan test stated that lighter resin masses (0.25 and 0.5 gram) are suitable for Tulsion A23 and heavier resin masses (0.75 and 1 gram) are ideal for Amberlite IRA402.

Abstract

Gone Girl, a novel by Gillian Flynn, explores the intense psychological and emotional conflict between a married couple, Amy and Nick Dunne. Amy desires love and loyalty but is devastated by Nick’s betrayal. Meanwhile, Nick, who is obsessed with emulating his father, fails to express love to Amy and instead engages in an affair, leading to suspicion when Amy suddenly disappears. Amy’s uncontrollable ego drives her to fake her own death and frame Nick for murder as a form of social punishment. The story unfolds through public suspicion, legal investigation, and emotional turmoil. This study applies Cascio’s theory of conflict to examine the types and dynamics of internal and external conflicts experienced by the main characters. The study also aims to identify the negative impacts resulting from these conflicts. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the research analyzes how internal conflict (man versus self) and external conflict (man versus man, society, and fate) shape the narrative. Amy’s psychological need for validation and her manipulative actions lead her to deep guilt and emotional suffering. Nick, on the other hand, experiences social rejection, emotional stress, and job loss after being falsely accused. These conflicts result in significant behavioral changes and deteriorating mental, physical, and social well-being. The novel reveals how unresolved personal and relational conflicts can escalate into destructive outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the principal’s strategy in managing teacher resources to improve the quality of education. The principal has a strategic role in creating an effective learning environment through directed leadership. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a qualitative approach, analyzing 15 relevant scientific articles in the last ten years. The results of the study indicate that commonly applied strategies include teacher needs planning, ongoing training, academic supervision, participatory empowerment, and the creation of a conducive work climate. Transformational and collaborative leadership styles have proven effective in improving teacher performance and motivation. These findings indicate that optimal teacher resource management has a direct impact on the quality of learning and student learning outcomes. However, most of the literature is still limited to the local context and is descriptive in nature, so further research is needed with a quantitative or mixed approach to strengthen the validity and generalization of the results.

Abstract

Ibn Nujaym was a prominent Hanafi jurist whose influential work, al-Ashbāh wa al-Naẓāʾir (the resemblances and similitudes) served as one of the primary sources for the Majallāt al-Aḥkām al-ʿAdliyya. However, despite the significance of this compilation of legal maxims, it has not been adequately studied in terms of its sources and intellectual influences. By comparing the text of Ashbāh wa Naẓāʾir by Ibn Nujaym and al-Subkī and analyzing through a historical framework, this paper argues that. Ibn Nujaym’s legal methodology was shaped by the Shāfiʿī-dominated intellectual environment of Egypt during the transition from the Mamluk era to the Ottoman empire. This study reveals that his work was strongly inspir ed by Tāj al-Dīn al-Subkī’s Ashbāh wa Naẓāʾir, a well-known Shāfiʿī compilation of legal maxims. The dominance of Shāfiʿī doctrine in late Mamluk Egypt, along with the gradual decline of legal pluralism and increasing pressure to conform to the hegemonic school, led Ibn Nujaym to position himself under the Shafī’s umbrella of legal principle. We can trace this affiliation through his adoption of several structural and conceptual elements from al-Subkī’s work, such as the use of similar language, categorization styles, borrowing the main maxims, and modifying derivative maxims. His approach reflects not only a borrowing process but also a form of legal adaptation and survival within a shifting political landscape.
