Abstract

Abstract

Organic food agriculture, especially rice, is a potential business opportunity in the present and in the future. This is based on the principle of the benefits of organic food, which puts forward the principles of good health for plants, soil, animals, earth, and humans as an interconnected and inseparable whole. The objectives of this study were to analyze the economic and financial feasibility of organic rice farming in North Buton Regency, to analyze the economic and financial viability of farming when input prices change, and to compare the feasibility of organic rice farming in various bank groups. The data used in this study are primary and secondary data, the variable coverage of which consists of the amount of organic rice production, production price, and the components of farm costs. Respondents were determined using accidental sampling technique, in order to obtain 60 farmer household respondents. Furthermore, an economic and financial feasibility analysis approach is used which consists of 3 criteria, namely net present value, net benefit-cost ratio, and internal rate of return. The results showed that: (1) organic rice farming in North Buton Regency based on economic and financial feasibility criteria is feasible to be cultivated and or developed, (2) Even though there has been a change in input prices, organic rice farming in Buton Utarata Regency is feasible to be cultivated and or developed, (3) the selection of business investment credit in the state-owned bank group and the national private bank group is more feasible to operate, while the business investment credit in the regional government bank group is vulnerable to the risk of loss. Therefore, in applying for investment credit for organic rice farming, farmers must choose a financial institution in the state bank group or national private bank.

Abstract

Chili is a commodity that often triggers inflation at certain times or periods due to sudden price increases. The reason is that the availability of chilies is not sufficient for market demand due to production inefficiencies. This research aims to determine the factors that influence cayenne pepper production and determine the efficiency of using production factors using the Cobb-Douglas production function. The results of the research show that seeds and labour have a significant effect on increasing cayenne pepper farming, while land area, fertilizers, and pesticides do not have a significant effect on production. The use of production factors has not yet reached the maximum level of efficiency. Production factors that are not yet efficient are land area and labour so their utilization needs to be increased. Meanwhile, inefficient production factors are seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides so their use does not need to be increased or reduced.

Abstract

In the development plan for the capture fisheries subsector, at least two resources are the basis for its development, namely production potential and human resource potential (fishermen). This research aims to analyze the potential for developing the capture fisheries subsector using an asset approach and problem analysis, as well as formulating program plans and follow-up actions for the development of the capture fisheries subsector in Buton Tengah Regency. The analytical method in this research uses a potential (asset) analysis approach and a problem analysis approach, where the informants are relevant stakeholders who are considered to know the root of the problem in the development of capture fisheries commodities in Buton Tengah Regency. The research results show that: (1) the development of the capture fisheries subsector in Buton Tengah Regency has prospects for development, as indicated by a location quotient (LQ) value of greater than one (1.07), (2) Development of the capture fisheries subsector using a problem analysis approach has five main threats, namely: limited access to capital for fishermen, limited fishing anchorage areas, fish storage that does not last long, monopoly of production prices by intermediaries, and sources of financing dominated by intermediaries, (3) Formulation of program plans and follow-up in the development of the capture fisheries subsector can be carried out through training activities and technical guidance, counseling, procurement of fleets and modern fishing equipment, capital assistance and facilities, promotions, construction of fish auction sites, as well as the revitalization of fishermen's cooperative management. Therefore, synergy and high commitment from all stakeholders are highly expected to resolve various problems in the development of captured fisheries commodities in Buton Tengah Regency.

Abstract

Whole egg powder has a longer shelf life than fresh eggs, easier to apply, and can be applied in bakery industry. This study aims to evaluate the differences in the characteristics of bread made from chicken whole egg powder dried using the oven and foam mat drying methods compared to bread made from fresh eggs. The results obtained show that bread from chicken whole egg powder dried using the oven drying and foam mat drying methods was liked and accepted by consumers, especially from a sensory perspective (color, aroma, taste and texture), and even has a preference compared to bread made with the use of fresh eggs. The best formulation for bread was obtained from bread made using chicken whole egg powder dried with foam mat drying with color, taste, aroma and texture parameter value are 4.1, 4.3, 3.9 and 4.2 respectively, while the increasing volume was 289.6% and hardness value was 50.8 N/cm2. However, the characteristics of the bread produced using chicken whole egg powder from both the oven drying and foam mat drying methods were not much different from bread made using fresh eggs and can be a new alternative in food industry.

Abstract

Indonesia faces stiff competition in the era of global economy and free trade of horticultural products, especially fruits, where high quality and continuous availability are key. As the third largest pineapple producing country in the world, a supply chain approach is essential to understand the marketing aspects and ensure the efficiency of pineapple distribution, especially in Sabulakoa District, South Konawe, which has great local economic potential but is faced with the challenge of an inefficient supply chain, affecting prices and farmers' profits. This study aims to (1) determine the marketing channel, and (2) determine the magnitude of marketing efficiency in pineapple commodities in Sabulakoa District. This research is a qualitative and quantitative research with a population of 50 pineapple farmers and a sample of 33 people taken using simple random sampling technique through the Slovin formula. Research procedures were carried out by observation, interviews, and literature study, and data analysis using marketing margin analysis techniques and marketing efficiency. Based on the results of the study, pineapple marketing channels in Sabulakoa Subdistrict consist of channel I: pineapple farmers - retailers - consumers, channel II: pineapple farmers - intermediary traders - consumers, and channel III: pineapple farmers - intermediary traders - retailers - consumers. The efficiency value of marketing channel I is 71.43%, marketing channel II is 55.56%, and marketing channel III is 50%
