Abstract

Perjalanan panjang tafsir Al-Qur'an di Bugis dimulai sejak era KH. H Yunus Martan, AG. H Abdullah Pabbaja AG. H Hamzah Manguluang, AG. H. Daud Ismail dan AG. H Mu’in Yusuf.

Abstract

The Ice-Cold documentary exposes Jessica Wongso's cyanide case, revealing legal irregularities and sparking critical discussion on media narratives. Prior studies highlight media’s influence on public opinion but overlook how ideology and power are embedded in narratives. This research fills that gap by analyzing their reflection in the documentary Ice Cold. This theory incorporates Islamic concepts such as istidl’af (Al-Qasas 5), musyawarah (Ali Imran 159), and khalaqah from the Prophet’s hadiths. Using qualitative discourse analysis, it explores the relationship between messages, ideology, and power. This study examines the relationship between ideology and power in the film Ice Cold, using Gill Branston and Roy Stafford’s theory and public perceptions post-release. Using media, communication, and da'wah approaches resulted in an analysis showing the power behind this case and how the social class between Jessica and Mirna can lead to public opinion. It is essential to acknowledge the possible non-neutrality of media and documentary films and the importance of critically assessing information obtained from the press. This research makes an academic contribution by expanding the study of ideology and power in the media by integrating Islamic concepts in discourse analysis. It also offers a new interdisciplinary perspective, linking communication theory, da'wah, and social representation to reveal power dynamics and ideological construction in documentary film narratives.

Abstract

Background: Religious conflicts in Bekasi City, such as the cases of HKBP in Ciketing Asem (2010) and Santa Clara church in North Bekasi (2017), reflect social tensions that threaten community harmony. This study aims to examine the role of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Bekasi City in social dakwah in reducing conflict, identifying conflict actors, and formulating effective prevention strategies. The theory used is Stephen Littlejohn's moral conflict theory combined with the Islamic concept of social conflict. Methods: This research uses a transdisciplinary approach by combining Western theories of moral conflict and Islamic concepts related to da'wah and social conflict. Islamic concepts such as iftiraaq (divide and conquer) and ikhtilaf (dispute) are analysed in the context of social conflict taken from several Quranic verses. Data were collected through literature review and analysis of MUI's role in social da'wah efforts and conflict resolution. Findings: This research found that social conflicts with religious backgrounds in Bekasi City stem from two main factors. Firstly, the conflict comes from the moral aspect of individuals who do not want the social order to run well. Second, there is external interference that imposes its interests even though it is against the will of the local community. MUI plays a role in reducing conflict through social da'wah, but the challenges in overcoming individual morals and external disturbances are still significant. Conclusion: Religious conflict in Bekasi City is a serious threat to social stability. MUI Bekasi City plays an important role in reducing tensions through social da'wah, but a more comprehensive prevention strategy is needed to address moral conflicts and external disturbances. Novelty/Originality of this article: This research offers a transdisciplinary approach that combines Western moral conflict theory and Islamic concepts of dakwah and social conflict. This provides a new perspective in understanding religious conflict in Indonesia and formulating relevant prevention strategies in the context of MUI's social da'wah.

Abstract

Several works available on religion and HIV/AIDS indicated that several religious groups in the world, including Indonesia, are still reluctant to be involved in the prevention of HIV/AIDS. However, the involvement of the two largest religious organisations in Indonesia, Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Moluccas Protestant Church (Gereja Protestan Maluku/GPM) in combating HIV/AIDS for the last ten years deserve to be investigated and studied, as new evidence which refutes the above studies. The result of this study shows, first, the involvement of NU and GPM in the prevention of HIV/AIDS showed the potential of religious organisations in health development, particularly as a progressive strength in the fight against pandemics such as HIV/AIDS. Second, the most fundamental forms of involvement are changing religious views about HIV/AIDS as a cursed disease into a disaster or a test that requires patience. NU and GPM also organise social activities, public education, and policy advocacy for HIV/AIDS programs. Third, although this article has not been able to present the decrease of HIV/AIDS prevalence in Indonesia as a result of religious organisations involvement such as NU and GPM, however, at least there have been some contributions from both organisations toward the decrease of negative stigmatisation to people living with HIV/AIDS.

Abstract

This study presents the outcomes of a community service initiative conducted by Informatics Engineering students of UIN Jakarta, focusing on the enhancement of digital literacy—particularly digital safety and digital ethics—within the cultural context of Indonesian educational institutions. The program engaged nine schools across Jakarta, Tangerang City, South Tangerang, and Bogor, regions characterized by diverse educational and socio-cultural backgrounds. Emphasizing culturally sensitive approaches to digital interaction, the program provided participants with knowledge and ethical frameworks aligned with local values and community norms. Post-program evaluations revealed a marked increase in digital literacy, with an average score of 4.28 on a 5-point scale. Furthermore, 47.1% of participants rated the module on data security at the highest level. However, cultural barriers were also identified, including hesitancy from some institutions to adopt formal digital supervision structures, often due to traditional perceptions of trust and authority. Despite these challenges, the initiative proved effective in cultivating culturally-aware digital behavior, preparing participants to navigate the digital era while remaining rooted in local ethical standards.

Abstract

Not many western genre films are made in the film industry, because of not many ideas can be explored. The Dance With Wolves film is a western genre film and is not made as a religious film. This film also does not intend to include Islamic principles. The most interesting is that this western genre film was made with high imagination and creativity. By using the theory of genre from Branston and Stanford, it was then studied further through the concept and living rules ??in the Al-Qur'an and Hadith. The results of this study illustrated a struggle (jihad) in the elements of the story (repertoires of elements) that united and inspired feelings. Also in the verisimilitude genre theory, a statement of belief (ilmul yaqin) raised in the truth of Allah's creation. Furthermore, through the cultural context theory, it could be seen that at-tamaddun exists.

Abstract

Al-Bahjah Islamic Boarding School in Cirebon has intensified promotional efforts to boost community participation in charitable giving, including donations and almsgiving, to support its land endowment (waqf) program and pesantren development through the MIZKA initiative, increasingly utilizing social media as a primary medium. This shift reflects a transition from conventional to digital da’wah models. This study examines the mechanisms of this transition, employing a qualitative approach informed by Anthony Giddens’ structuration theory to analyze interactions between social media and da’wah activities. Findings reveal that pesantren administrators, recognizing technological advancements, leverage social media to sustain da’wah’s core identity. They disseminate Qur’anic verses, hadith, and scholarly opinions to foster followers’ awareness and encourage contributions. The effectiveness of this approach is maintained through transparent social media posts showcasing construction progress and funds raised, establishing a new model of accountability. This indicates that tech-savvy preachers reconstruct social media not only as a tool for outreach but also as a platform for managerial transparency and responsibility.
