Abstract

A bad work environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic could cause losses for nurses, such as low levels of job satisfaction and nurse intention to leave the nursing profession. This review aimed to identify factors that might contribute nurse job satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Researches conducted a scooping review method by identifying the article from four databases as ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Ebsco, and PubMed from March 2019 until August 2021. The articles were selected through a PRISMA flow diagram based on inclusion and exclusion criteria that have been determined. Moreover, this article used the keywords -job satisfaction-, -nursing care-, and -the COVID-19 pandemic-.they found 20 out of 1012 articles that were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The analysis result then categorized the factors that could affect nurse job satisfaction into two factors: internal factors and external factors. The internal factor consists of psychological aspects, time management, communication, physical condition, and human resource. Meanwhile, the external factor consists of a system and support. The positive factors could be improved to maximize nurse job satisfaction and minimize negative factors.

Abstract

AbstractReproductive health information for adolescent students is still considered taboo and has not yet been included in the school curriculum. A good understanding of adolescent reproductive health is crucial because adolescents are expected to have responsible attitudes and behaviors regarding the reproductive process. The high-risk sexual behaviors among adolescents are due to a lack of accurate knowledge about reproductive health and sexually transmitted diseases. This activity aims to enhance the knowledge of high school adolescents regarding reproductive health. The activity was held in November 2021 at Public Senior High School 2 Malang, involving male and female students. The activity was conducted through health education, discussions, and demonstrations about reproductive health. The chosen media for delivery were audiovisual materials (PowerPoint presentations and videos). Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test questionnaires related to knowledge. The complete questionnaires underwent data analysis. The data analysis results from the participants, with a total of 218 respondents who thoroughly answered the provided questions, showed that the majority of participants were female (71%), aged 16 years (49.1%), from 10th grade (54.6%), enrolled in the science stream (66.6%), and had previously received information about reproductive health (77.1%). Furthermore, a significant difference in reproductive health knowledge scores was found among male students (p-value 0.000), while for female students, the difference was not significant (p-value 0.892). In conclusion, audiovisual educational media effectively enhances reproductive health knowledge.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescents, driven by their curiosity, are often inclined to explore new experiences, including premarital sexual behavior. The prevalence of such behavior among teenagers increases the risk of unwanted pregnancies. A lack of comprehensive information on sexuality and reproductive health contributes to the likelihood of engaging in risky sexual activities. Peer educators are considered effective in delivering crucial information on these topics. This study aims to evaluate the role of peer educators in providing sexuality and reproductive health education to adolescents. Method: This study employed a one-group pretest-posttest design, conducted at SMAN Taruna Nala Malang with a sample of 60 students. Due to the non-normal distribution of the data, the Wilcoxon statistical test was used for analysis. Results: The statistical analysis yielded a P-value of 0.329, indicating no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results before and after the intervention. The lack of significance may be attributed to the peer educators' proficiency in delivering the information. Conclusions: There is a need to strengthen reproductive health education for high school students by integrating it into the academic curriculum. This approach can serve as an early intervention to prevent premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. Keywords: adolescent; peer educator; reproductive health; sexuality

Abstract

Background: Nurse burnout could affect nurse's professional competence. Either physical or emotional burnout was related to an ineffective individual coping and emotional intelligence. The nurse burnout could be coped with a direct intervention on the individuals who practically focused on the mind and body system.Purposes: This research was aimed to identify the effects of mind and body-based therapies (MBT and PMR) for nurse burnout. Methods: This research was quasi-experimental with two groups pretest-posttest design. The sample of this study was 50 nurses in the medical-surgical wards who were divided into intervention MBT and PMR with a simple random sampling technique. Collecting data using burnout syndrome measurements on nurses applied pre and post-intervention, which was analyzed by Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney test. Results: The mean value of the burnout subscale decreased significantly (emotional exhaustion and depersonalization) and increased (personal accomplishment) after the MBT and PMR programs (p<0.05). The comparison of effect between the two intervention groups on nurse burnout syndrome found no significant positive difference in the mean scores (p>0.05). Conclusions: Mind body-based therapies (MBT and PMR) could reduce burnout syndrome significantly.

Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder distinguished by irregular menstrual cycles, elevated androgen levels, and the presence of polycystic ovaries, impacting approximately 4-18% of women of reproductive age.  This condition can lead to infertility, with obesity exacerbating its manifestations by elevating testosterone levels and contributing to insulin resistance.  Various factors, including dietary habits and a sedentary lifestyle, play a significant role in the prevalence of obesity, particularly in Indonesia.  This research aims to explore the potential relationship between obesity, physical activity, and dietary habits concerning the prevalence of PCOS among women of reproductive age in East Java.  A quantitative research design has been employed, utilizing a cross-sectional approach.  The study comprises two distinct groups: one consisting of women diagnosed with PCOS and another comprising healthy women.  The sampling method used is purposive sampling.  The research instrument includes demographic questionnaires, Body Mass Index (BMI) calculations, dietary assessments, and the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ).  Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 21.  The findings indicated that the obesity emerged as the most significant independent factor influencing the likelihood of PCOS occurrence (p=0.000).  The Exponent Beta (Exp. B) value, calculated at 31.62, reveals that women with obesity are at a 31-fold increased risk of developing PCOS compared to their non-obese counterparts.  In conclusion, there is a significant association between obesity, physical activity, and dietary habits and the occurrence of PCOS among women of childbearing age in East Java

Abstract

Shortness of breath, known as dyspnea, is a symptom that affects 40 to 70% of patients with HIV/AIDS during their hospital stays. Nonetheless, the prevalence and severity of dyspnea among individuals attending outpatient clinics remain inadequately understood. Evaluating dyspnea in the outpatient care setting is essential for preventing further complications and enhancing the quality of life for these patients. This study aims to assess the factors associated with the incidence and severity of dyspnea in individuals diagnosed with HIV in an outpatient context. Additionally, it examines the demographic characteristics of the study population. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted across 68 HIV outpatients. The incidence and severity of dyspnea were evaluated utilizing the Modified Borg Scale (MBS), and bivariate analyses were conducted. The results showed that among 64 individuals (94.1%), 64 exhibited dyspnea. The severity of dyspnea was categorized as follows: no breathlessness (4; 5.9%), very slight (8; 11.8%), very mild (15; 22.1%), mild (10; 14.7%), moderate (11; 16.2%), somewhat severe (7; 10.3%), severe (11; 16.2%), and very severe (2; 2.9%). Statistical analysis revealed no significant association between demographic factors and the incidence of dyspnea (p > 0.05), nor was there a correlation between demographic characteristics and the severity of dyspnea (p > 0.05). In conclusion, the Modified Borg Scale, which incorporates the 6-minute walking test as an assessment tool, can objectively identify and monitor the risk for more severe respiratory complications, even among patients without a prior diagnosis of pulmonary comorbidities.

Abstract

The majority of Master of Nursing Students are experiencing moderate to high levels of stress. Especially while working on their thesis. High-stress levels in nursing students can make them vulnerable to mental health disorders. One of the interventions to solve this problem is by building their resilience. Several previous studies related to resilience in nursing students focus more on undergraduate students. This study aims to analyze factors related to resilience in a master of nursing students in one of the state universities in East Java who are working on a thesis and see the fit of the resilience model. This study used a cross-sectional design with a total sampling technique. The minimum sample size is 10x the number of exogenous variables studied. There are 6 exogenous variables in this study so the minimum sample size is 60 respondents. The sample in this study amounted to 63 respondents. Univariate analysis in this study was carried out by analyzing numerical data using mean, median, and standard deviation values. Meanwhile, for categorical data, proportion analysis is used. Multivariate analysis was carried out using Partial Least Square (PLS) using SmartPLS 4. The result of this study shows p-values for X3 and Y, X5 and Y, X6 and Y, X1 and X6, X4 and X6 are below 0,05. So it can be concluded that interpersonal communication skills, social support, and coping strategies are positively related to resilience. Spirituality and physical health were not related to resilience but were positively related to coping strategies. Meanwhile, emotional intelligence is not related to either of them. The resilience model is a good fit. Further research by improving the research design is needed to support the results of this study.
