Abstract

One of the skills that must be developed in the 21st century is creative thinking skills. Creative thinking skill that need to be developed because creative thinking skills are the ability to bring up new ideas and interesting thoughts in different situations. There are four aspects of creative thinking skills used in this study, namely: (1) fluency, (2) flexibility, (3) originality, (4) elaboration. The purpose of this research is to develop creative thinking instruments that are used to determine the level of student’s creative thinking abilities. The method used in this research is R and D with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The instrument consisted of 11 essay questions which were validated by 2 expert validators and validated on 31 class X high school students empirically who were selected by cluster random sampling and tested on 2 expert validators. In this study, the results obtained 10 valid questions and 1 invalid question with a reliability value of 0.86. Therefore, this creative thinking question instrument can be used as a measuring tool for student creativity. It is hoped that this research can be further developed through implementation by students.

Abstract

E-learning media is the result of technological developments that are currently used to support online and blended learning. Many researches on the development of e-learning media have been carried out, so a re-analysis is needed to find out how much influence the use of e-learning media has on critical and creative thinking skills. This study uses a meta-analysis technique by determining the effect size value. The sample used is 10 articles from 2011-2021. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the use of e-learning media has a major effect on critical and creative thinking skills. The e-learning media that has an effect on critical thinking skills is role play games (RPG). The e-learning media that has an effect on creative thinking skills is mobile learning. The effect of e-learning media on critical and creative thinking skills is highest at the high school education level. The biggest influence of the use of e-learning media on critical thinking skills is in Java Island, and on creative thinking skills is in the Maluku Islands.

Abstract

Developing students' critical thinking skills in learning was an effort to improve learning outcomes. However, critical thinking skills were still not fully developed. The development of Digestipedia-web or website-based media was expected to improve students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study was to examine the feasibility and quality of Digestipedia-web media in improving critical thinking skills. This study used the Research and Development method with the ADDIE model. The research was carried out in November 2022. The developed media was tested for feasibility in terms of material, media and language by two expert validators. The effectiveness of the developed media was tested on 35 students at SMAN 18 Tangerang Regency, Indonesia. The overall results of the media test were categorized as valid and feasible. The results of the students' post-test scores were higher than the pre-test scores. The results of the media effectiveness test with the N-Gain test obtained the medium category. The conclusion of this study showed that Digestipedia-web was valid and feasible to use as a learning medium and can improve critical thinking skills in digestive system material.

Abstract

This research is motivated by educators who do not optimize learning media in teaching biology in high school, so this will have an impact on students' thinking skills at a concrete level. This study aims to develop learning and the application of multimedia to improve students' thinking power. This study uses the Borg and Gall development model through the stages of research and information gathering, planning, initial product development, initial field trials, main product revisions, main field trials, product revision operations, operational field trials, final product revisions, outreach, and implementation. Follow-up research combined with quasi-experimental research. This multimedia validation involves media experts, content experts, and linguists as well as students. The research instrument used was in the form of multiple-choice questions. The development results have been assessed by expert judgment. The developed multimedia learning can be used well at the high school level in Class XI IPA and is classified as very good. The results obtained for improving students' thinking skills in biology learning can be used in the learning process by obtaining the results of increasing students' thinking skills.

Abstract

Science education in the 21st century including biology learning at the level of Junior High School requires a more contextual implementation. Environmental learning topics such as green consumerism is a contextual topic in biology learning. Students must have high Pro-Environmental Behavior (PEB) to participate in protecting the environment. The purpose of this study was to measure the PEB of students at the 7th-grade level. The research method used descriptive with survey data collection techniques. The study was conducted in November-December 2018 at State Junior High School 1 South Tambun, West Java, Indonesia. A total sample of 135 students in 7th grade was selected by simple random sampling. The results showed there were six PEB indicators based on Green Consumerism that were Energy Conservation (86.37), Transportation (56.67), Waste Avoidance (53.04), Daily Consumption (64.44), Recycling (58.89), Social Behavior (60.54). Among the six indicators, only energy conservation was categorized as very high, while the others are categorized as moderate. This study concluded that PEB students must be improved by various models, methods, and media in biology learning.Keywords: Environmental learning, green consumerism, pro-environmental behavior

Abstract

This research is aimed at developing and validating instruments to measure ecoliteracy capabilities, so that this research can produce a product in the form of a measurement instrument that has been validated and is used for measuring the ability to ecoliterate students. This research and development uses the ADDIE development method. This instrument is based on the Basic Competence of Class X Biology lessons, which consists of three dimensions of ecoliteracy. Based on 30 issues developed, there are 18 right and 12 wrong. The results of the analysis were obtained 15 questions on the dimension of knowledge, 2 questions about the dimensions of concern, and 1 questions about practical competence dimensions. Based on the differential power test, there were six bad criteria, six sufficient, three good and three very good criteria. The empirical validation was conducted by conducting trials on 36 students in the 11th grade of Mother of the Holy Heart High School in Jakarta, which were then analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The reliability test result was 0.80 using the Kuder Richardson-20 (KR-20) formula that falls within the very high criteria. It shows that the ecoliteracy measurement instrument developed is worthy of use to the students.

Abstract

The inventory of macrofungi diversity on two routes, namely the Kanopi route and the Cipadaranten 1 route at the Bodogol Nature Conservation and Education Center (PPKA), aims to determine the diversity of macrofungi species that live in the area. The research method used is direct observation in the Canopy and Cipadaranten 1 route areas. With the condition of the trees on both routes which are still quite dense and the soil area is still damp due to the cover of the trees, there is great potential for the growth of various types of macrofungi. The results obtained during research on both routes and identification produced 24 species of macrofungi Microporus sp. 1, Microporus sp. 2, Microporus sp. 3, Trametes sp.1, Lenzites sp, Ganoderma sp., Ganoderma boninense, Trametes sp.2, Microporus xanthopus, Hexagonia sp, Trametes parvispora, Microporus sp. 4, Hygrocybe aurantiosplendens, Hygrocybe sp., Marasmius sp. 1, Collybia aurea, Crepidotus sp., Volvariella sp., Marasmius sp. 2, Lycoperdon sp., Marasmiellus sp. , Coprinus sp. , Stereum sp., Auricularia sp. The results obtained prove that the diversity of macrofungi types on the Kanopi and Cipadaranten 1 routes in PPKA Bodogol, West Java is very diverse and varied.

Abstract

Acrostichum aureum L. is a fern from family Pteridaceae, commonly called as swamp fern or mangrove fern and usually found in mangrove, swamp or brackish area. It noted that heavy metal concentration was found in Acrostichum aureum, but distinction measure in each organs was unknown. This study was conducted to acquire information about heavy metal concentration in Acrostichum aureum, the differential expression of Mn and Cu concentration in each organs, and examine the potential of Acrostichum aureum as Mn and Cu bioaccumulator. Acrostichum aureum and sediment sample taken from Muara Angke Wildlife Reserve, North Jakarta which contaminated by heavy metal Mn and Cu. As a proponent data, Acrostichum aureum and sediment sample also taken from Gunung Kapur Ciseeng that assumpted as uncontaminated area. The methods used was descriptive with purposive sampling technique. The result showed that Acrostichum aureum was bioaccumulator for Mn with BCF average value 1.06. Organs with the highest Mn and Cu concentration was root. U-Mann Whitney test result showed that Mn and Cu concentration in each lower organs significantly different to the upper organs.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the correlation between comprehension reading skill and higher-order thinking skill with scientific literacy skill for senior high school biology teacher. This research was conducted in Kabupaten Bekasi using 64 senior high school biology teachers as samples. Samples were taken by using Simple Random Sampling. The method used in this research was descriptive quantitative and research hypothesis tested by Pearson Product Moment in α=0,05. The results obtained correlation coefficient value between: comprehension reading skill with scientific literacy skill is 0.280; higher-order thinking skill with scientific literacy skill is 0.252; comprehension reading skill and higher-order thinking skill simultaneously with scientific literacy skill is 0.321. Coefficient of determination test showed that: 7,8% of comprehension reading skill contribute to scientific literacy skill; 6,4% of higher-order thinking skill contribute to scientific literacy skill; 10,3% of comprehension reading skill and higher-order thinking skill contribute to scientific literacy skill. Hope this result research can be a basic reference for further research.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determined the correlation between students' perception of teacher transactional leadership style with Student motivation of study biology. Students have perception of teacher transactional leadership style during the learning process. Student perception about teacher transactional leadership style can be one of the factors that influence the motivation to learn biology. This perception may occur at each school included in SMA Negeri 31 Jakarta. This research was conducted in SMAN 31 Jakarta in May 2016. The method used was descriptive method through correlational studies with survey techniques. The total sample in this study were 85 students with simple random sampling technique. Having tested the research data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The regression equation Ŷ = 37,453+ 0.485X obtained. The correlation coefficient of 0.496.Which means that 21.9% of the variable motivation of study biology can be determined by the variable student perception about teacher transactional leadership style.
