Abstract

Family resilience is needed to support its members to face challenges and prevent them from risks of the problems around them. Although the concept of family resilience has been mentioned in Law No. 52/2009 on Population Growth and Family Development, universal indicators to understand the level of family resilience have not been available yet. This study aims to (i) analyze the category of family resilience between intact and single families; (ii) test the reliability and validity of family resilience indicators; and (iii) examine the effect of family structure towards family resilience. This paper used data from the study of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in collaboration with the Center for Gender and Children's Studies LPPM-IPB in 2015 in Bogor Regency. Reliability and validity tests indicate family resilience indicators that used in this study are reliable and valid. Also, intact families is more resilient than single families, both of each component and in total. These findings indicate the significant effect of family structure on total family resilience. Future research is recommended to test the validation of a broader scope of family resilience indicators that look at the different demographic and socio-economic conditions of the regions.

Abstract

The advancement of information and communication technology have a positive and negative impacts on family ties and values. These developments also change the order of family life as the smallest unit in society. Family interaction and communication also change along with social change in society. The purposes of this study are: first, to explore the topics of conversation and interaction of adolescents with their families. Second, to depict four types of communication between adolescents and their families. This study was conducted for 6 months in 6 high schools in Bogor with qualitative methods. Data were obtained through focus group discussion (FGD) in each high school with a total of 12 FGDs. The number of informants involved in the FGD were 60 students aged 15-18 years old. The FGD results show that most of theadolescents shared their personal problems to peers than to parents. The topics presented by adolescents to parents included events at school (lessons, teachers, friends), television shows, ideals, sports, and politics. Some adolescents who had close relationships with parents did not hesitate to share their personal problems and interests of the opposite sex to their parents. Adolescents who had closeness to parents tend to be more open and were able to control their emotions. The findings of this study are expected to provide inputto the family as well as to improve the quality of communication between adolescents and parents.

Abstract

Abstract

Women have more gender perspective than men. It means that women have thought in more flexibleways that gender roles could be changed and exchanged between men and women. Based on the Spearmen correlation test, it showed thatthe more individual has gender perspectives in domestic gender roles, the more that individual has gender perspectives in public and socialroles, and vice versa. Finally, there was indication that the higher the social status of the father, then the more perception of the father towardpublic and social roles that tended to be part of the men’s roles rather than women’s roles, as patriarchy system placed men to be mainbreadwinners.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, orders to work and study from home became a problem for families in Indonesia. Marital adjustment and gender role partnerships in the household must be well established to create marital satisfaction so that there is no conflict in the family. This study analyzes the factors influencing marital satisfaction in intact families during the Covid-19 pandemic. Respondents in this study are wives from intact families who have children and are domiciled in the city of Bogor. The sampling technique used non-probability purposive sampling with several samples of as many as 128 people. The data was processed using descriptive and inferential tests and multiple linear regression using SPSS 25 and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 3.0. The correlation test results showed a positive correlation between marital adjustment, gender role partnerships, and marital satisfaction. The results of the linear regression test showed that the husband's income had a significant positive effect on marital satisfaction. Correlation tests, linear regression test results, and SEM showed that marital adjustment and gender role partnerships significantly positively affected marital satisfaction. There is an indirect effect between marital adjustment and marital satisfaction with gender role partnership mediators.
