Abstract

Risk assessment in agro-food supply chains is crucial in managing the complexity and uncertainty associated with food product production, distribution, and consumption. This study aims to classify risks and mapping techniques or approaches used in risk assessment of agro-food product supply chains. Mapping technique or approaches to risk assessment of agro-food supply chains was carried out based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) framework, which consists of several stages of identification, screening eligibility, and inclusion, resulting in a total of 72 relevant journal articles. They were selected from 58 different journals with high-impact factors and rankings. The literature review results show that agro-food's supply chain risk classification has much to do with risk assessment: macro-level risk, operational risk outside the company, and internal risk. Furthermore, the most studied agro-food products are general food (44%), horticultural products (28%), meat products (11%), dairy products (10%), fishery products (6%) and bread products (1%). The techniques and approaches most widely used in assessing the risk of the agro-food supply chain are semi-quantitative (49.3%), quantitative (31.5%), mixed (12.3%), and qualitative (6.9%). A better knowledge of the topic being addressed in the research community is sped up by identifying these techniques and approaches since the literature on supply chain risk management for agro-food is voluminous, complicated, and challenging to grasp.

Abstract

Indonesian cocoa products in international trade face challenges in quality, food safety, and environmental requirements. Developing the cocoa agro-industry is essential to meet those global demands. The research aims to analyze the competitiveness of business in Indonesian cocoa products using the Global Value Chain (GVC), Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), and Trade Specialization Index (TSI) methodology. Research data uses the time series of Indonesian cocoa product export trade from 2001-2020. From a GVC perspective, the diversity of cocoa product exporters and the same competition drive a significant increase in competitiveness. Market access opportunities and regulatory support will encourage domestic industrial growth by utilizing efficient supply chains and making Indonesia part of the global production network. Cocoa products require economic value, from dry beans to ready-to-consume products. They are improving farmer’s bargaining position towards agro-industry institutions and better stakeholder coordination. The results of RCA show the comparative advantage of Indonesia cocoa exporters for HS code products 1801, 1802, 1803, 1804, and 1805 in the international market. The stages of identification of Indonesian cocoa products are the maturity stage for cocoa beans, the commercial maturity stage for cocoa paste and butter products, and the growth stage for cocoa product powder.

Abstract

Abstract

Cleaner production is an environmental management strategy that is preventive, integrated and continuously applied to every process. The urea fertilizer industry certainly produces waste and allows for problems or constraints in the processing process. This study aims to obtain a cleaner production strategy to increase the efficiency of urea production. This research was studied at a urea factory in Sumatera with a high production capacity of 114,584 kg/hour. The cleaner production strategy was preventive maintenance for the CO2 compressor (B/C 1.91), cleaning demister on dust recovery prilling tower (B/C 3.62), making automatic door closer (B/C 84,54), addition wire mesh on air exhaust (B/C 91,96), add a condensate drop container overall (B/C 1,51) and make repairs to existing dehumidifier in bulk storage (B/C 30,94). Determining the priority of cleaner production alternatives using the MPE method results in the highest priority net production alternative being making automatic doors closer. If all alternatives are implemented, there will be savings in energy consumption of 2.052 kWh/tonne/day. Percentage of urea and NH3 loss can be reduced up to 20% so that the prilling unit production efficiency increased by 0.24% and the savings to be obtained range from 620 thousand - 45 billion rupiah/year.

Abstract

Banana chip processing in Lampung province uses two different frying methods, namely conventional frying and vacuum frying. The objective of this study was to compare the number of impact emissions generated from the banana chip production process in banana chip agro-industries in Lampung. This research was conducted based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method to assess the environmental impact emissions from the banana chip industry in Lampung, focusing on the impacts of Global Warming Potential (GWP), Acidification Potential (AP) and Eutrophication Potential (EP) with a function unit of 250 g/pack. Analysis using SimaPro 9.4.2 software. Analysis using the CML-IA Baseline method shows that the banana chip industry has a significant environmental impact with the largest impact by the industry, where the conventional frying method produces a GWP impact of 1.16 kg CO2 eq/package, EP 2.08E-2 kg PO4 eq/package and AP 3.6E-3 kg SO2 eq/package, while in the vacuum frying method, the GWP is 6.3E-1 kg CO2 eq/package, AP 2.3E-3 kg SO2 eq/package and EP 6,1E-3 kg PO4 eq/package. The calculated normalization data shows that the total impact of producing banana chips per package in conventional frying is 1.9E-12 person equivalent/package with the frying stage contributing 85.45% and in vacuum frying is 6.7E-13 person equivalent/package with the frying stage contributing 77.70%. The resulting emission impact value shows that the emission impact of conventional frying is higher than the emission impact of vacuum frying. However, an economic and social assessment of both frying methods needs to be done to see the sustainability index of both. Keywords: banana chips, LCA, simapro, vacuum frying

Abstract

The Cocoa agroindustry requires future changes based on information technology that provide significant value benefits for organizations/companies (digital transformation). The experience during the pandemic required us to transform digitally. Cocoa agroindustry stakeholders such as cocoa farmers, farmer facilitators, and regulators have not been responsive to this, and the industry does not know what to do. The urgency of assessing the readiness for technology adoption in the cocoa agroindustry in Indonesia is urgently needed so that all stakeholders can feel the implementation of 4.0-based technology. What are the benefits of digital transformation to increase productivity, value creation, and social welfare in the industry?  This study aims to investigate and identify profiling of technology-based adoption, develop quantitative and qualitative models of TRI 2.0 and validate the assessment results. In this work, we take the case of agroindustry in Lampung province by involving cocoa agroindustry stakeholders. The technology readiness index 2.0 methodology provides a comprehensive framework with the result that the value of the Optimism variable is 1.05, the Innovativeness variable is 1.01, the Discomfort variable is 0.6, and the Insecurity variable is 0.75. The results of calculating the TRI 3.5 value, including the Intermediate Technology Readiness Index (Medium). The TRI value can be interpreted as Lampung cocoa agroindustry stakeholders in this case have have information and communications technology (ICT) potential and are not resistant to using new technology. Hopefully this will become a milestone for establishing a cocoa agroindustry community within the framework
