Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the intention of Indonesian medical tourists to visit Malaysia. This study examines the influence of relationship marketing and word of mouth on trust, as well as the influence of trust on revisit intention. The research approach used was quantitative, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to Indonesian medical tourists who had received treatment in Malaysia. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the relationships between variables. The results showed that all hypotheses were accepted. Relationship marketing and word of mouth had a positive and significant effect on trust, while trust had a positive and significant effect on medical tourists' intention to revisit. These findings confirm that trust is a key factor in shaping medical tourist loyalty. Practically, the results of this study provide input for the Indonesian government and hospital management in formulating policies to strengthen domestic medical tourism by increasing trust and service quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of medical quality, service quality, and price fairness on satisfaction and their impact on loyalty of Indonesian patients undergoing medical tourism in Malaysia. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method, where data were collected through structured questionnaires from 200 respondents who had received medical services at several leading hospitals in Malaysia. The data analysis technique was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the relationship between the study variables. The results showed that medical quality and service quality had a positive and significant effect on patient satisfaction, confirming the importance of diagnostic accuracy, treatment effectiveness, and the professionalism of medical and non-medical personnel in shaping the experience of cross-border medical tourism. In contrast, price fairness did not have a significant effect on satisfaction, indicating that Indonesian patients prioritize clinical outcomes and service quality over price considerations. Furthermore, patient satisfaction was shown to have a very strong and significant influence on loyalty, which was reflected in the intention to return and authorize medical services in Malaysia. These findings provide theoretical and practical support for the development of medical tourism policies, particularly in efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of domestic healthcare services in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of tourist involvement and service quality on the loyalty of historical tourism visitors in Batam City, with shared value creation as a mediating variable. The study was motivated by the low interest in historical tourism despite Batam’s potential historical attractions, such as Kampung Vietnam and the Raja Ali Haji Museum. A quantitative approach was employed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The sample consisted of 120 respondents obtained through online questionnaires distributed to tourists who had visited historical tourism sites in Batam. The results indicate that tourist involvement and service quality have significant positive effects on shared value creation, which in turn has a positive impact on visitor loyalty. Furthermore, shared value creation mediates the relationship between tourist involvement and service quality on loyalty. These findings suggest that enhancing service quality and encouraging tourist involvement are essential strategies for building loyalty in historical tourism destinations.

Abstract

The research uses a quantitative approach to examine the relationship between safety and security, price reasonableness, and word-of-mouth communication on the image of a medical tourism destination and the revisit intention of Indonesian medical tourists to Malaysia. The study sample included Indonesian who had previously traveled to Malaysia for medical treatment. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with 210 respondents. The collected data were processed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results show that two variables safety and security and price reasonableness are important in shaping Malaysia's positive image as a medical tourism destination, but word-of-mouth communication is not. Furthermore, a positive destination image is an important variable in increasing tourists' intention to return to Malaysia for medical treatment.

Abstract

Medical tourism has become one of the most dynamic sectors within the global tourism industry, particularly in Asia. Singapore has emerged as a leading medical tourism destination due to its advanced medical infrastructure, internationally accredited healthcare professionals, strong regulatory framework, and high standards of safety and security. Indonesian patients constitute one of the largest contributors seeking treatment in Singapore, driven by trust in service quality and perceived reliability of healthcare outcomes. This study investigates the influence of safety and security, price reasonableness, and word-of-mouth communication on medical tourism destination image and examines its effect on revisit intention among Indonesian patients. A quantitative research design was employed, with data collected through an online questionnaire targeting individuals who had previously received medical treatment in Singapore. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS through measurement and structural model evaluations. Results show that a positive destination image strongly predicts revisit intention, and that all three external elements have a significant positive effect on destination image. These findings emphasize the importance of developing a trustworthy, secure, and competitively priced medical environment to foster patient loyalty. The study also recommends future research to incorporate additional mediating variables such as trust, perceived medical service quality, and patient motivation to improve the robustness of the model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of RM and WOM on revisit intention with trust as a mediating variable among customers of 4-star hotels in Batam City. A quantitative approach was used with the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. Data were obtained through a survey of 120 respondents who had stayed at 4-star hotels, using purposive sampling techniques. The results show that RM and WOM have a positive and significant effect on trust. However, trust does not have a significant effect on revisit intention. RM also does not have a direct effect on revisit intention. Meanwhile, WOM has a positive and significant effect on revisit intention. These findings indicate that promotion through customer-to-customer communication is more effective in encouraging revisit intention than relationship-based marketing alone. This study provides practical implications for hotel managers to strengthen WOM strategies, as well as opening up opportunities for further research by considering additional variables such as customer satisfaction and stay experience.

A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a survey method, where data was gathered via an online questionnaire from 150 respondents who have stayed at four-star hotels in Batam City. Data analysis was carried out using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method, supported by SmartPLS 4 software. The findings indicate that both service quality and facilities have a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction, while service quality, facilities, and customer satisfaction positively and significantly influence customer loyalty.
