Abstract

Creating a learning environment that supports students' understanding is an important notion in mathematics education (Carpenter & Lehrer, 1999). In this case, it is necessary to have a flow in the learning process. Learning trajectory will help teachers apply models, teaching material strategies and appropriate assessments according to students' thinking stages. The flow of student learning in the development of symbols and their meaning in mathematics can be done through technology and information (Bakker et al., 2003). The purpose of this study is to analyze the understanding of mathematical concepts in high school students using the Pirie-Kieren theory lens. Based on the results of the analysis of student worksheets for groups with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles, they have fulfilled the layer of Piere-Kieren understanding up to the stage/organizing layer. The difference in the results of the worksheets of the students in the three groups of learning styles can be seen in their process of finding ways to arrange the candies/boxes equally.Creating a learning environment that supports students' understanding is an important notion in mathematics education (Carpenter & Lehrer, 1999). Abstract

Digital transformation in personnel data management demands a transparent, secure, and integrated system to support data-driven decision-making and enhance accountability in personnel services. An integrated information system and personnel statistical data are necessary to assist leaders in analyzing staffing needs and making more accurate and efficient data-based policies, while also strengthening the principles of good governance through improved transparency and accountability. Therefore, the Personnel and Human Resource Development Agency of the Government of Madiun Regency, East Java, requires technology capable of effectively managing personnel information by offering security, transparency, and data integrity through a decentralized mechanism. Blockchain, as a distributed ledger technology, provides an innovative solution for maintaining data integrity and increasing public trust through permanent, encrypted, and validated transaction records within a decentralized network. The implementation of blockchain in the management of personnel statistical data remains limited, despite the technology’s ability to support real-time audit trails and reliable interactive data visualization. This study proposes a framework for integrating a relational database with smart contracts on the Ethereum network, by recording the hash of statistical data in the smart contract as proof of data authenticity. Data is retrieved from the database, hashed, and the hash is stored in the smart contract to ensure its integrity, with the results visualized in interactive charts. This framework is expected to improve transparency, accountability, and trust in personnel statistical data to support more accurate and efficient strategic decision-making.

Abstract

Interoperability between software platforms represents a significant challenge in Building Information Modeling (BIM) implementation for structural design and analysis of multi-storey buildings. This research evaluates the effectiveness of BIM interoperability between Autodesk Revit and ETABS through a case study of a four-story office building with Special Moment Resisting Frame System (SMRFS) located in Jakarta, Indonesia. Structural model transfer was performed from Revit to ETABS using CSiXRevit plugin with EXR format, followed by evaluation of data consistency in bidirectional transfer processes. Results demonstrate that initial transfer from Revit to ETABS successfully maintained all major structural parameters, although support type changes from fixed to pinned occurred requiring manual correction. In the reverse transfer from ETABS to Revit, data inconsistencies were found including 10% reduction in column dimensions (from 500×500 mm to 500×450 mm) and inaccuracies in reinforcement placement. The structural model successfully meets seismic requirements according to SNI 1726:2019 for mass participation parameters, base shear forces, and story drift. This research confirms that while EXR format can maintain relatively good structural data integrity, validation and manual corrections remain necessary to ensure model consistency in integrated BIM workflows.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze junior high school students’ mathematical reasoning abilities in terms of their levels of learning independence. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving three ninth-grade students from UPT SMP Negeri 5 Gresik, each representing high, medium, and low levels of learning independence. Data were collected through a self-regulated learning questionnaire, a mathematical reasoning test based on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV), and semi-structured interviews. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that students with high learning independence demonstrated strong reasoning skills across all seven indicators of mathematical reasoning (representing statements, making conjectures, performing manipulations, constructing proofs, drawing conclusions, verifying arguments, and identifying patterns). Students with medium learning independence fulfilled only some indicators, while those with low learning independence could only make simple conjectures without systematic reasoning. These findings highlight that learning independence plays a crucial role in developing mathematical reasoning, as it enables students to regulate their thinking processes, evaluate solutions, and correct errors. Teachers are encouraged to integrate learning strategies that foster self-regulation—such as the CORE and Flipped Classroom models—to enhance students’ mathematical reasoning skills.

Abstract

Effective mathematics instruction requires teachers to diagnose students’ errors and provide scaffolding that is responsive to their learning needs. Yet, pre-service pre-service mathematics teachers (PMTs) frequently encounter challenges in identifying the nature of students’ mistakes and in designing appropriate instructional support. This study investigates the types of student errors diagnosed by pre-service pre-service mathematics teachers and the scaffolding patterns that emerge from their diagnostic practices. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through video analysis, microteaching, classroom practice, and in depth interviews. The analysis indicates that pre-service pre-service teachers recognized four major categories of student errors: conceptual misunderstandings, procedural inaccuracies, representational mistakes, and strategic misapplications. In addressing these errors, they employed four corresponding scaffolding patterns. Conceptual scaffolding supported students in reconstructing mathematical meaning, procedural scaffolding provided step-by-step guidance, strategic scaffolding encouraged evaluation of alternative approaches, and metacognitive scaffolding fostered reflection on reasoning and symbolic interpretation. These findings underscore scaffolding as a dynamic and adaptive practice shaped by teachers’ professional vision. The study contributes to mathematics teacher education by demonstrating how practice-based programs can strengthen pre-service pre-service teachers’ capacity to notice, diagnose, and respond to students’ thinking, thereby promoting more inclusive and meaningful mathematics learning. This research provides new insights into how pre-service teachers’ scaffolding practices, shaped by error diagnosis, can inform teacher education globally.
