Abstract

This study examines the relationship between self-concept (self-management and self-esteem) and career readiness among students participating. It examines the mediating role of career attitudes in this relationship by testing five hypothesized pathways. The internship experience is positioned as a structured learning context that supports the development of self-regulation and positive self-evaluation. A quantitative, cross-sectional survey design was used to examine the role of self-concept in career readiness. Data were collected by online questionnaire from 8,877 undergraduate students who participated in the now-concluded national internship program “Certified Internship and Independent Study (MSIB) in its fifth cohort (2023). Data analysis was conducted using multiple regression and path analysis in SmartPLS 4.0 to test relationships and mediation effects. The results showed that both components of self-concept, self-management (β = 0.427, p < 0.001) and self-esteem (β = 0.265, p < 0.001) had significant, positive effects on career readiness. In addition, self-management (β = 0.536, p < 0.001) and self-esteem (β = 0.333, p < 0.001) were positively associated with career attitudes, which, in turn, were significantly associated with career readiness (β = 0.380, p < 0.001). Mediation analysis confirmed that career attitudes partially mediate the relationship between self-management, self-esteem, and career readiness. The research model explained 74.0% of the variance in career readiness (R2 = 0.740), indicating that the constructs studied are substantial predictors of students' work readiness. According to the study’s findings, to make students career-ready, it is necessary to adopt a two-fold approach. First, enhancing self-esteem through positive internship experiences and constructive criticism. Second, providing students with structured internship programs to help them develop self-regulatory skills. To maximize graduates' readiness to enter the workforce, higher education institutions are advised to design career development programs that simultaneously enhance self-management skills, foster adaptive professional attitudes, and promote healthy self-esteem by integrating these programs into the core curriculum, permanent career services, and a standardized internship reflection system. Keywords: career readiness; internship; self-concept; career attitudes; undergraduate students.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship among zero-waste management, perceived green capability and managerial belief in customer trust and booking intention within the hotel industry. The research model also incorporate hotel category (2 star, 3 star and 4 star) as a moderating construct. Using a quantitative survey design, data are collected from hotel manager to assess their perception of environmental practices and anticipated customer reactions. Data are analyzed using   PLS –SEM to test the hypothesized direct and moderating relationship and to identify the strength and significance of each structural path. The result show that zero-waste management has a significant and positive effect on perceived green capability, demonstrating that environmental practices enhance the managers’ assessment of their hotel’s sustainability competence. However, perceived green capability does not significantly influence managerial belief in customer trust or booking intention. Additionally, zero-waste management is not found to significantly affect the managerial belief in customer trust or booking intention. Further, hotel classification also do not moderate the relationship between perceived green capability and the customer belief construct, indicating that sustainability capability is not viewed differently across hotel categories. These findings, reveal that environmental capability strengthen the internal strategic perception but does not translate directly into managerial expectation of customer behavior. This study is limited by its regional focus, the reliance on self-reported managerial perception and its cross-sectional design. Future research should incorporate the customer data, and also explore the alternatives   moderating construct for better understanding about zero-waste management.

Abstract

Objective – This study examines how Consistency, online reviews, and ratings influence seller reputation, with customer experience as a mediating mechanism in the Shopee marketplace. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative approach was employed, using questionnaire data from Shopee users, with up to 252 respondents. The proposed model was tested using PLS-SEM (SmartPLS) to evaluate direct and indirect relationships among constructs. Findings – Consistency positively influences customer experience and seller reputation. Ratings positively affect customer experience and seller reputation and are the strongest direct drivers of reputation. Customer experience positively affects seller reputation. Online reviews positively influence seller reputation but do not significantly affect customer experience. Customer experience mediates the effects of consistency and ratings on seller reputation, whereas mediation is not supported for online reviews. Research limitations/implications – The findings are based on cross-sectional, self-reported data from a single platform, limiting causal inference and generalizability. Future studies may incorporate longitudinal designs, objective behavioral indicators, and additional review attributes (e.g., valence and credibility). Practical implications – Sellers should prioritize consistent service performance and maintain strong ratings to enhance reputation through improved customer experience. Platforms can strengthen review governance to support reputation formation. Originality/value – This study clarifies how marketplace signals translate into seller reputation directly and through customer experience as an explanatory pathway. Keywords: Consistency, online reviews, ratings, customer experience, seller reputation.
