Abstract

Abstract : According to John Olney’s research  (1996) MSG is given as food to the baby of white mouse, if it is given at  high dose (0.5 g / kg body weight / day) or at higher dose, it can cause damage to some nerve cells, especially the section of the brain called the hypothalamus. The parts of the brain that are responsible become central of appetite control, temperature, and other vital functions. This study aims to describe the mother's of knowledge level, the role of health workers and the behaviour of using monosodium glutamate (MSG) for foods. This study was conducted on March 2014 in the Rural Area of West Perampuan, Perampuan village, Labuapi Sub-District of West Lombok Regency. This study used descriptive and observational cross-sectional approach. The number of sample on this study was 80 samples. The sample collection was conducted by systematic random sampling. the data collection gained from interview and questionnaire. The age of the samples was mostly over > 35 year as many as 52 people (65%). Most of the samples education was 50 people on elementary level (62.5%), and most of the sample worked as a housewife, as many as 46 people (57.5%). The level of knowledge of the sample was still in the low category, as many as 52 people (65.0%). Health workers did not play a role. Total sample was 100% added monosodium glutamate (MSG) for their foods and as many as 69 people (86.25%) were added MSG for their foods in accordance with the optimum dose of 0.1 to 0.8% of the volume of the food. the result of the research was most of the mothers were still lack of knowledge of using monosodium glutamate (MSG) and health workers did not play a role. However, the mothers’behaviour to use monosodium glutamate was still relatively safe.

Abstract

Background: Preschool age (4-6 years) children experience several eating problems, one of which is picky eating. One of the factors that influence picky eater behavior in children is the practice of parenting practices adopted by parents. A good mother's knowledge the expected to shape attitudes and behaviors that can shape children's excellent and healthy eating habits. Objectives: The study of the effect of nutrition training on mothers on the knowledge of mothers whose children experience picky eating. Method: Quasi-experimental research design with pre-post only group design, statistical analysis using Paired T-Test. Results: The level of knowledge of mothers before training with fewer categories was 19 people (63%); after training, the level of knowledge was 19 people (64%) and good one person (3%). Training effects increase the knowledge of mothers whose children experience picky eating (p = 0.006 <α = 0.05). Before training, the average knowledge score was 53 points, increasing to 61.3 points after training with an average increase of 8.3 points. Conclusion: Training increases the knowledge of mothers whose children experience picky eating (p = 0.006 <α = 0.05).

Abstract

Abstract: Consultation intervention using audio-visual media is one of the methods that can be carried out as an effort to enhance the society especially family (i.e. housewife) to be able to play the role as an innovator in her own household. Audio-visual is the best assistive tool nowadays. Along with the rapid development of technology, consultation using audio-visual media must also be developed at this moment. Objective of this research is to know the influence of consultations using audio-visual and conventional media on the knowledge of mothers having toddlers with non-rising weight in Penimbung Public Heath Center’s operational area, West Lombok Regency. The research was carried out in Penimbung Public Health Center’s operational area i.e. Dopang Village and Gelangsar Village in approximately 6 months, from June to November 2012. This research applied the true experimental design using pretest-posttest with control group design. The population number was 91 subjects and the samples were 60 subjects. The method of consultation used was group consultation, in which the first group (20 subjects) used audio-visual media, the second group (20 subjects) used conventional media and the third group (20 subjects) were not given any treatment at all. Data was processed using the Independent Sample t-Test statistical analysis to compare the means or average score of the knowledge of mothers among the groups, both prior to the consultation and after the consultation has been carried out. Subsequently, Paired Sample t-Test statistical analysis was used to compare the average result of the pretest with the posttest in the case group and the control group.The toddlers’ ages were between 9-57 months and half of them (50%) were first born. The mothers’ occupation were mostly (88%) housewives and some of them (38.3%) have finished junior high school/its equivalent. There was no difference in the knowledge average of mothers (posttest) after consultations using audio-visual and conventional media were conducted. There was a difference in the knowledge average of mothers (posttest) after audio-visual consultation was conducted in the control group. There was an influence seen in the increase of knowledge average of mothers when compared before and after the consultations have been conducted, both in the consultation groups using audio-visual and conventional media. The frequency of consultation conducted by the nutritionist in Penimbung Public Health Center should be increased to increase the knowledge of mothers, both by using conventional and audio-visual media. Alternative consultation media should created. One of the alternatives created is audio-visual media with an enhanced format to suit the condition of the local area because the audio-visual media that is used during this research is still simple.

Abstract

Background: One of the efforts to overcome nutritional problems is to increase knowledge about nutrition through nutrition counseling. Learning can be influenced by education. People with higher education tend to have a broader understanding and an openness to accept new things. Meanwhile, someone with low education tends to have old thinking patterns and is less open to new things, including powerful areas in holding their customs. One way to influence the community's mindset in such conditions is to use a trusted communication facilitator who can be a role model for the community. So that in this study, the role of traditional leaders is used so that the community is more receptive to the material presented. Objective: To determine the effect of counseling through the media of Wetu Telu Bayan traditional leaders on the knowledge of mothers of children under five about the message of balanced nutrition. Methods: This research is a pre-experimental study that allows testing the changes after the intervention. The research design used is a one-group pre-test-post-test design. Result: An increase in knowledge scores in the form of differences in scores from pretest to post-test. Analysis using Wilcoxon regarding the effect of counseling on balanced nutrition messages by traditional leaders on the knowledge of mothers of children under five, the results were p = 0.00 or p <0.05, meaning that there was an effect. Conclusion: There is an effect of counseling through the media of Wetu Telu Bayan traditional leaders on the knowledge of mothers of children under five about the message of balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Background. Hypertension is a degenerative disease that is the leading cause of death globally. Handling hypertension can be done by giving the DASH diet. In this case, this study provides an interlude to the DASH diet. Research Methods. This study uses a quasi-experiment (pre-test-post-test control group design). The study subjects consisted of two groups: the treatment group with the administration of the DASH diet interlude and the control group. Research Result. Most of the subjects in this study were elderly 70-74 years (33.3%) in the treatment and 75-80 years (50%) in control. The research subjects were primarily female, with 27 elderly (75%). The mean blood pressure in both groups before the intervention was higher than the mean blood pressure after the intervention. The analysis of the two groups' different tests showed no difference in systolic and diastolic blood pressure before the intervention. However, there were differences in systolic and diastolic blood pressure after the intervention. Furthermore, giving a DASH diet interlude affected Systolic blood pressure (p=0.000) and Diastolic blood pressure (p=0.034) after the DASH diet snack was provided.  Conclusion. There is an effect of giving the DASH diet interlude on blood pressure after giving the DASH diet snack.

Abstract

Background. Many sufferers do not know if they have hypertension because they are often without complaints, so this disease is called the silent killer. However, hypertension is essential in therapy because it can cause complications in vital organs. Prevention and treatment of hypertension recommend lifestyle modifications such as increasing the intake of vegetables and fruit. Watermelon and tomatoes are fruits that are often found in NTB Province. The fruit can be used as an alternative prevention and treatment of hypertension. Research Methods. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research. The sample came from the UPTD Puskesmas Babakan, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The juice intervention was given for ten consecutive days, once per day, in the afternoon, as much as 200 ml from 200 g watermelon and 100 g tomatoes. The results were analyzed using paired t-test. Research Result. In the treatment group, the decrease in systolic blood pressure was 18.3 mmHg, and the reduction in diastolic was 11.4 mmHg.While the difference in the decline in the control group for systolic was 4.75 mmHg, and the diastolic level in the control group had an increase of 5.4 mmHg.  Conclusion. There is an effect of decreasing systolic and diastolic blood pressure after being given the spirit juice (watermelon) intervention.

Abstract

Stunting dapat berdampak kepada kemampuan menyerap informasi dan kemampuan kognitif anak. Kelurahan Abian Tubuh Baru merupakan wilayah sentra Produsen tahu dan tempe di Kota Mataram, NTB. Di lokasi ini produsen belum pernah mendapat informasi tentang makanan yang bergizi yang memiliki harga jual yang baik, dan dapat menjadi icome tambahan produsen dari daun kelor. Penting mengenalkan, mempraktekkan dan menciptakan sentra industri rumahan yang berbasis Daun Kelor secara terencana dan terus menerus dibina  terutama pada sasaran pengrajin tahu tempei lingkungan Kelurahan Abian Tubuh Baru melalui kegiatan Pengabdian Masyrakat Jurusan Gizi Poltekkes Mataram. Luaran kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan kewirausahaan, dan wirausaha baru. Terdapat 10 orang produsen yang mengikuti sampai selesai pengembangan kewirausahaan ini dan melakukan produksi secara mandiri, serta berusaha menjualnya ke beberapa kedai/warung. Kegiatan pengembangan usaha melalui pelatihan kewirausahaan dapat meningkatkan ketrampilan kewirausahaan. Dalam pelatihan ini telah dilakukan metode demonstrasi, praktek langsung dan simulasi ketrampilan, sehingga menghasilkan produk makanan berbasis daun kelor dengan campuran bahan sisa produksi tahu tempe. Kata kunci: Daun Kelor. kewirausahaan, pelatihan.

Abstract

Berdasarkan Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) tahun 2018 menyatakan bahwa kasus gizi kurang pada tahun 2018 sebanyak 13,8%, dan hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar NTB, prevalensi baduta tahun 2018 dikabupaten Lombok Utara adalah 11,24%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh Edukasi Pemberian MP-ASI menggunakan media buku saku terhadap tingkat pengetahuan gizi seimbang ibu balita gizi kurang usia 6 – 24 bulan di Desa Tanjung Kecamatan Tanjung Kabupaten Lombok Utara.Desain penelitian menggunakan pra Eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pre test and post test design terhadap 33 responden (penyuluhan dengan media buku saku) yang diberikan selama 1 minggu dan diuji menggunakan uji Paired T Test dengan data berdistribusi normal dengan derajat kesalahan yang dapat ditoleransi α 0,05.Hasil penelitian p value=0.00 (p<0,05) yang berarti terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan. Dilihat dari hasil post test yang diberikan lebih baik dari hasil pre test yaitu kategori tingkat pengetahuan baik sebanyak 25 orang dengan presentase (76%), kategori tingkat pengetahuan cukup sebanyak 6 orang dengan presentase (18%) dan kategori tingkat pengetahuan kurang sebanyak 2 orang dengan presentase (6%). Dan hasil pengetahuan post test pada presentase terbesar pada kategori tingkat pengetahuan baik sebanyak 33 orang dengan presentase (100%).Ada pengaruh edukasi pemberian MP-ASI dengan menggunakan buku saku untuk ibu balita gizi kurang usia 6-24 bulan di Desa Tanjung, Kecamatan Tanjung, Kabupaten Lombok Utara.

Abstract

Ampas tahu adalah limbah kedelai yang sedikit sekali orang menggunakannya untuk dikonsumsi, padahal nilai gizinya masih cukup baik, terutama protein. Praktek membuat jajanan dari daun kelor yang dikenal tanaman superfood,  dapat divariasikan dengan ampas tahu. Kelurahan Abian Tubuh Baru Kota Mataram,NTB merupakan pusat produsen tahu tempe yang belum pernah dilakukan pendampingan praktek membuat jajanan dengan inovasi tersebut. Metode yang dilakukan berupa penyebaran informasi dan praktek pembuatan produk. Peserta yang mengikuti kegiatan sebanyak 30 orang. Sedangkan produk yang dipraktekkan adalah Sempol Kelor Ampas Tahu dan Puding Kelor Sari Kedelai. Terdapat komposisi nilai gizi produk yang semula rendah zat gizi menjadi lebih tinggi Sempol Ampas Tahu setiap 100 gram mengandung Protein= 7.9 gram, dan Puding  Kelor Sari Kedelai mengandung Protein = 12, 6 gram.

Abstract

Alumni Jurusan Gizi Politeknik kesehatan Mataram sudah mampu membuat produk  yang inovasi dan bernilai gizi tinggi, masih kurang dalam kemampuan mengembangkan menjadi produk komersial karena  pengetahuan berwirausaha dan ketrampilan manajemen masih perlu dikembangkan. Sehingga upaya agar alumni bisa mengembangkan jiwa wirausahanya melalui program pengembangan kewirausahan pada kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat. Sasaran dalam kegiatan ini adalah alumni yang sedang merintis usaha dibidang makanan sebanyak 10 orang.  Pendekatan yang dilakukan menggunakan modifikasi metode PALS (participatory action learning system).
