Abstract

The rapid evolution of agricultural technology offers unique opportunities and challenges, particularly for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the food crop sector. This study investigates the adoption of agricultural technology among rice farmers in Pamijahan, an area pivotal for rice production in Bogor Regency. The study's objectives are to analyze the extent and factors influencing agricultural technology adoption among rice farmers in Pamijahan. The methodological approach begins with cross-tabulation to analyze the extent of technology adoption across various processes in the agribusiness management system and followed by multiple linear regression analysis based on the simplified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), integrating variables such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, and attitudinal tendencies. Data were gathered over a period of five months. Primary data collection involved structured questionnaires targeted at rice farmers, while secondary data was obtained from institutional reports. The results reveal a moderate adoption level, with significant use of staple seed, hand tractor, and simple grinding technologies, but a persistent reliance on manual methods for planting and harvesting. The TAM analysis shows that perceived usefulness, ease of use, and attitudes towards technology are key influencers of adoption, accounting for 67.7% of the variance in farmers' intention to use technology. These findings underscore the importance of farmers' perceptions of technology adoption and suggest that improving technology understanding and accessibility could significantly enhance adoption rates, promoting agricultural productivity and sustainability in smallholder farming.

Abstract

The agricultural sector, as the cornerstone of food security in Indonesia, is predominantly managed by smallholder farmers who are still accustomed to conventional methods. The challenges of climate change will affect the upstream agricultural industry, necessitating farmers to digitally transform their operations to enhance productivity. Digital-based agricultural applications have been introduced by several technology service developers to farmers, but their adoption rates are still relatively low. One common model used to study the acceptance and use of technology is the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). The UTAUT model has not been widely applied in Indonesia, specifically among smallholder farmers with specific characteristics. This research aims to analyze the factors influencing the intention and behavior of smallholder farmers to adopt and use digital agricultural application technology using the UTAUT model. The research was conducted from March to April 2024 in the agricultural hub region of Tuban Regency, with 124 smallholder farmers as respondents, using purposive sampling technique. This research utilized a descriptive data analysis method based on cross-tabulation with an SEM-PLS approach. The findings indicate that performance expectations, effort expectations, and facilitation conditions collectively influence the behavior of using digital agricultural applications through farmers' behavioral intentions. Differences in age levels were found to moderate the relationship among variables. Younger farmers need to be fully engaged in utilizing the dissemination of digital agricultural application technology through training practices supported by improved facilities

Abstract

The adaptation of the Halal Japan Application System is able to serve as a model to promote halal awareness in the Philippines. This is because the country has a Muslim minority and significant potential for the growth of the halal industry. The concept of Halal, derived from Islamic teachings, covers more than dietary restrictions by influencing lifestyle choices and consumer behavior across diverse sectors, including food, cosmetics, and tourism. Therefore, this research aimed to discuss the challenges and opportunities within the halal certification landscape in both Japan and the Philippines. The trend is associated with the persistence of issues such as the lack of a centralized regulatory body and varying standards among certifying agencies in Japan despite the advancements in halal certification since 2010 and the development of the Halal Japan app. Meanwhile, the Philippines faces infrastructural and awareness challenges in its burgeoning halal sector. The implementation of a similar halal app could bridge these gaps, enhancing accessibility and reliability for local and international Muslim communities. This comparison showed the need to improve the certification processes and community engagement strategies to establish the Philippines as a key player in the global halal market in order to foster economic growth and cultural integration.

Abstract

The research objective of the study is to analyze and confirm the influence of leadership styles, incentives, and organizational culture on agents' performance in social security acquisition. The information was gathered from 190 BPJS Ketenagakerjaan agents across 21 branch offices in the East Java region. The research data obtained by filling out online questionnaires were then processed using a structural equation modeling (SEM) partial least squares (Smart PLS Version 4.0) approach. The findings show that there is an influence of leadership style and incentives toward organizational culture on agents, and leadership style is more dominant than incentives toward organizational culture. Furthermore, the effect of the incentives variable and organizational culture variable on performance has a positive and significant effect. The leadership style variable, however, has a negative effect on performance. Organizational culture affects performance more than leadership style and incentives. In addition, organizational culture as an intervening variable fully mediates the effect of the leadership style variable on performance. Furthermore, the organizational culture variable can partially mediate the relationship between incentives and performance. These findings are expected to provide direction for organizations to improve agents' performance by inspiring a shared vision, modeling the way, providing awards or recognition, and developing standards of attitudes that clearly and measurably describe the organization's vision and mission. Further studies are needed in the same model applied to the national level of samples.
