ABSTRACT Iron deficiency is a problem that often occurs in the elderly as a result of the aging process. The use of Moringa oleifera leaf to occupy the need of nutritious meal which highly in vitamin and mineral especially iron was scarce. This research aim was to determine the influence of Moringa oleifera leaf powder on hemoglobin levels in the elderly. The pre-experimental research design was used to the sample of 16 respondents which were selected by consecutive sampling technique. The result showed the majority of the respondent were female within average of 65 years old. The paired T-test analysis obtained the hemoglobin levels was 13.76 g/dL (before Moringa oleifera leaf powder consumed) and increase after consumption to 15.13 g/dL (p-value of 0.031 0.05). It indicates there is an influence of Moringa oleifera leaf powder on hemoglobin levels in the elderly. It is recommended to further study the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf powder on the blood chemistry and SpO2 levels among the elder population.

Nutrition includes various components of nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats and minerals. These components in the body undergo metabolism to be stored and used by the body, so the adequacy of these components determines nutritional status, especially in the pandemic era it is known that all aspects of life including students and their families are also experiencing global effects, even in consuming nutrients. Nutritional status can be measured by various parameters, one of which is using Body Mass Index (BMI) by comparing body weight and height. The purpose of the study was to determine the correlation between nutrient consumption and body mass index during the pandemic. Correlation and cross-sectional is the design of this study. The population of professional students and their families, the sample is 44 respondents, using purposive sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire. with bivariate analysis in the form of chisqure. The results showed that most of the nutritional consumption was 70.5% (31 people) in the good category, the nutritional status was mostly 56.8% (25 people) with normal nutritional status, the results of chiquare p = 0.125 p value 0.05, meaning that there was a relationship between nutritional consumption and body mass index obtained 0.125.

Diabetes mellitus is a collection of metabolic symptoms starting with insulin secretion or insulin resistance. Insulin resistance in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) sufferers causes a decrease in the absorption of glucose levels. The liver cytosol is a source of glucose energy obtained from fatty acid synthesis. This synthesis event causes "fatty liver", namely the accumulation of lipids in the liver, this is very dangerous and in an effort to prevent the severity of this disease it is necessary to check liver enzymes, namely SGPT and SGOT in T2DM sufferers. This study aims to analyse the correlation of liver enzymes SGPT and SGOT in T2DM sufferers. This research has a collative design with an approach to collecting data on variable blood sugar levels and liver enzymes SGOT and SGPT at one time which is called a cross-sectional approach. The total sample was 25 patients taken using purposive sampling technique. The observation sheet is used as an instrument to collect data. This research resulted in the highest number of studies showing 56% of abnormal blood glucose levels with abnormal SGPT liver enzymes. There is no correlation between blood glucose levels and the liver enzyme SGPT in T2DM sufferers with a p-value of 0.54. The highest abnormal blood glucose level is 4% with abnormal SGOT liver enzymes. There is no correlation between blood glucose levels and the liver enzyme SGOT in T2DM sufferers with a p-value of 0.28. The conclusion of the study was that there was no correlation between the liver enzymes SGPT and SGOT in T2DM sufferers.

This article examines the challenges and opportunities for students of English Literature in Indonesia amidst forces of globalization and technological advancements in most aspects of life. Demographic transition of users and providers of the English language has brought about such challenges as observable lack of maturity in English scholarship and automation’s impact on education today. It can be argued that such challenges can be seen as opportunities by a creative rather than product-oriented curriculum. Given that studying literature is not only to train cognitive skills of interpreting texts, English Literature teaching in Indonesia should also impart values so as to inspire learners into becoming autonomous, self-fulfilled and emancipated global citizen. Opportunities are open if studying English Literature can include humanistic-contextual topics, discerning use of technology and transformative research method.

This article is of reflection category exploring the common mistakes often occur in translating Indonesian literary texts into English by a non-native speaker of English. It argues that translation of literary texts is meticulous as it should involve interpretation and fluency in both source and target languages as well as creativity in order that the translated texts communicate equally well. It is the communicative power of translation that makes this undertaking of language transfer miraculous. Applying sufficient principles in translation and creative writing method, this article exemplifies the translation process of Mochtar Lubis’s short story “Kuli Kontrak” into “The Contract Coolies” that appears in the Your Story page of California-based Dalang Publishing bi-lingual website. Autoethnography is the method used in reporting the results. Three main problems that ensue in the Indonesian-English translation of this short story include (1) the concept of time, (2) the non-idiomatic use of body-parts, and (3) the unnecessary use of object construction/ passive voice that often do not translate well in English. By tackling these problems, the English reader may hopefully obtain the meaning-message of the short story as closely as possible to that acquired by Indonesian readers.

This study looks at how rivers, resistance and women’s struggle intertwine with each other in 3 fictions set in, respectively, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Not only has a river become life-giving forces, but it is also a locus of diverse social conflicts where women are often the most victimized yet survived. Making use of ecofeminism and related theoretical concepts such as Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’ on the environment and human ecology, this study examines the female characters and their ordeals in the three fictions discussed. This study reveals that first, ecological economy depends on water sustainability where women try very hard to protect nature against degradation. Secondly, abuse of women is seen in parallel with abuse of nature. In the end, this study concludes that the women’ resistance against patriarchy confirms the theoretical relevance of ecofeminism for the reading of Southeast Asian fictions.
