Abstract

Primary education plays an important role in shaping the foundation of students' knowledge, especially in Natural and Social Sciences (NSP) subjects in grade 4. Choosing grade 4 as the focus of learning is very strategic because at this age, children are in a critical stage of cognitive development where they begin to be able to think logically and understand more abstract concepts. LKPD is a learning tool designed to provide guidance and steps to students in the form of worksheets that contain instructions, steps, and tasks to be completed. LKPD serves as a medium that helps students organize and internalize learning material more effectively, as well as develop analytical thinking skills and problem solving through hands-on and exploratory activities. The photosynthesis material in the 4th grade Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) subject of the Merdeka Curriculum was chosen for research because photosynthesis is a basic concept that is very important for students' understanding of the plant life cycle and the basics of ecosystems. Photosynthesis teaches students about how plants produce food and oxygen, which are essential for the life of all living things. A solid understanding of the photosynthesis process can help students appreciate the importance of protecting the environment and increase their awareness of environmental issues. In addition, it lays the foundation for more complex science lessons later in their education. Conventional learning methods are often unable to optimally motivate students, resulting in low learning outcomes. To overcome this problem, the development of Discovery Learning-based Learner Worksheets (LKPD) is an alternative solution. This study aims to determine the initial picture of student learning outcomes using LKPD. The method used is descriptive research. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument. The results of the study were an average of 55. This result shows that the average value of students does not yet have a basic understanding of the concept of photosynthesis. The follow-up of the results of this study is the need to develop Discovery Learning-based LKPD.

Abstract

Development and Validation of ADI-STEM-Based Biotechnology e-Liveworksheets to Enhance Student Argumentation Skills. Objectives: Despite its enormous potential, ADI-STEM-based electronic worksheets are still rarely used. In the face of the challenge of integrating STEM, ADI-based worksheets should be centered on authentic engineering issues. Designing real-world, challenging, yet still solvable problems for students with digital tools (Technology & Math) and relevant Science concepts. The purpose of this study is to fill this gap by developing and validating a reliable teaching material called the ADI-STEM-Based Biotechnology e-Liveworksheets (ASBL), which is intended to train the argumentation skills of Indonesian junior high school students. Methods: The research employed a development method using the Thiagarajan 4-D model, which includes the stages of Define, Design, and Develop, without the Disseminate stage. The ASBL underwent rigorous validation by experts and field testing in junior high school students in Indonesia. The Sampson & Clark framework is used to measure students' argumentative skills. Two biology education experts reviewed the content to ensure its validity. Two media experts reviewed the content to ensure its validity, and a senior teacher assessed the feasibility and practicality of ASBL. Researchers got real-world data for descriptive-quantitative analysis from 30 9th-grade students at a junior high school in Lampung, Indonesia. This data demonstrates the practicality of teaching materials, as evidenced by the increase in the average value of argumentation skills between before and after learning, as well as the responses of educators and students to the learning process. Data were collected using validated questionnaires and written tests. Findings: The results of the study showed that the ASBL was stated as very high validity (93%) by material experts, high validity (87%) by media experts, very practical to uses in learning by students (98%), with in improving students’ argumentation skills with N-gain in the high cateogry of claim (0,82), evidence (0,78), and reasoning (0,79). The majority of students (over 85%) found ASBL easy to use, engaging, and helpful in guiding their learning process. Teachers reported that the platform enabled efficient progress tracking and assessment of students’ argument construction at each learning phase. Conclusion: This research develops valuable and valid teaching materials to train students' argumentation skills. As a teaching material that aligns with the Independent Curriculum, ASBL is quite useful for Indonesian teachers. This encourages a shift from memorizing things by rote to understanding them more deeply and learning how to conduct science. Future research could explore scaling this model across different science topics, educational levels, or through longitudinal studies to assess retention and transfer of argumentation skills.     Keywords: biotechnology, liveworksheets, argumentation, argument-driven inquiry, STEM.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence of the Education for Sustainable Development-oriented Collaborative Problem Solving model on Critical Thinking Skills and Sustainability awareness at MAN 1 Metro in 2024/2025 on ecosystem material. The population in this study were all class X students at MAN 1 Metro. The research sample was students in class X-1 as the experimental class and X-2 as the control class with the sampling technique being purposive sampling. This research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. Data collection was obtained through pretest-posttest and sustainability awareness questionnaires. The type of data used is quantitative data in the form of students' critical thinking skills and sustainability awareness. The research results show that the n gain value obtained in the experimental class and control class is in the medium category, but the experimental class has a larger number, namely 0.70. Meanwhile, the results of sustainability awareness in the experimental class showed an average of 84.44 with a high interpretation. This indicates that teachers need to adopt a collaborative and sustainability-oriented learning approach so that science education, especially biology, can be more meaningful, contextual, and relevant to environmental issues both globally and locally. Thus, the results of this study imply the need to develop learning strategies that position students as critical problem solvers who have sustainability awareness to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) through education. So it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Collaborative Problem Solving model oriented towards Education for Sustainable Development in improving critical thinking skills and Sustainability Awareness students. The implications of the results of this study indicate that the application of Collaborative Problem Solving oriented towards Education for Sustainable Development can be an effective learning strategy to improve critical thinking skills while fostering sustainability awareness in students, so that it is relevant to be applied in 21st century education.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Flash floods in tropical regions have shown an increasing trend in frequency and impacts over the last two decades, particularly in vulnerable watersheds and areas experiencing rapid land-use change and urban expansion. This study focuses on mapping the development of scientific research on flash floods in Sumatra, specifically Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, by examining the linkages among climate change, land cover change/deforestation, watershed dynamics, and both structural and non-structural mitigation strategies, including disaster education and ecological literacy. A systematic literature review (SLR) combined with bibliometric and thematic analyses was applied. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database for the 2016–2025 period, yielding 68 documents as the initial dataset. The selection process followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, resulting in 53 full-text documents retrieved, while 15 reports were not retrieved due to limited access. Of the 53 documents assessed, 41 were retained as relevant literature, comprising 25 core studies and 16 conditional supporting studies. Bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer identified six dominant thematic clusters centered on floods, flash flood, and indonesia, strongly connected to extreme rainfall, landscape change, geospatial technologies, spatial planning, and mitigation. The thematic synthesis indicates that flash flood risk in Sumatra is shaped by the interaction of hydrometeorological triggers, watershed degradation driven by land cover change, increasing exposure due to urbanization, and social capacity to respond to early warning information. This study concludes that integrated watershed-based mitigation, adaptive spatial planning, geospatial technology utilization, and strengthened risk literacy through disaster education and ecological literacy are essential to enhance long-term resilience.
