Abstract

Background of the study: The rapid development in the field of educational leadership and management (EDLM) recently has led to an increase in the number of publications. In line with this, bibliometric analysis has been widely conducted to assess various fields of study, particularly in Indonesia. The abundance of publications also necessitates an examination of the extent to which authors' productivity levels contribute to the field of EDLM in Indonesia. Purpose: This research aims to explore the pattern of author productivity by testing Lotka's Law on publications in the field of EDLM in Indonesia. Method: The testing is conducted using the complete count and straight count methods to compare the results obtained from both approaches. The data for the study were collected from all 44 Indonesian accredited journals in the EDLM field. A total of 7,796 articles were screened based on specific criteria, resulting in a final sample of 5,158 articles with 6,604 authors (complete count) and 4,301 authors (straight count). Findings: The results of the study indicate that the productivity levels of authors in the field of EDLM in Indonesia do not align with Lotka's law. While, most productive authors tend to publish their publication in a single journal only. Conclusion: The study also reveals a disparity in the productivity levels between the two methods, as well as a tendency for productive authors to publish their work in a single journal.

Abstract

This study evaluates the efficiency of Indonesian Library and Information Science journals indexed by SINTA by applying Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) using a Variable Return to Scale (VRS) model. The primary aim is to assess the performance of these journals to identify areas of strength and inefficiency. The study encompasses twenty-one journals, which served as decision-making units (DMUs). The input variables considered include Article Processing Charges (APC), Editorial Team, Number of Authors, and Number of Publications, while the output variables were Number of Citations and H5-Index. Data were collected from journal websites and the Sinta database covering 2018 to 2022. The analysis was conducted using MaxDEA software. An efficiency score of 1 indicated an efficient journal, whereas scores below 1 denoted inefficiency. The study reveals six journals as efficient: Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan, Khizanah Al-Hikmah: Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan, Informasi, dan Kearsipan, IQRA': Jurnal Perpustakaan dan Informasi, Bibliotech: Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi, PUBLIS (Publication Library and Information Science), and Imam Bonjol Journal: Kajian Ilmu Informasi dan Perpustakaan. However, most journals were found to be inefficient, with an average efficiency score of 0.809. These findings are significant as they provide valuable insights for journal editors and policymakers. The results offer guidance on optimizing resource allocation and developing strategies to enhance the quality and impact of scholarly publications within the Library and Information Science field.

Abstract

Balinese batik, a traditional cloth, is rich in motifs and philosophical meanings that reflect the culture of the Balinese people and need to be preserved. Preservation efforts aim to ensure that the knowledge contained in Balinese batik can be sustainable in the long term. This study examined the knowledge and preservation of Balinese batik cloth to preserve indigenous knowledge. This study used a qualitative method by analyzing the knowledge contained in Balinese batik cloth using Peirce's semiotic approach and a case study to explore the preservation efforts carried out by the UPTD Bali Museum. The data collection technique used interview and observation methods, which were conducted from May to June 2024. Data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation (data display), and conclusion. Study results showed that if examined more deeply, Balinese batik contained philosophical meanings that reflected the culture of Balinese society due to the influence of Hinduism and local values. Balinese batik motifs were also inseparable from the influence of Chinese cultural elements that contain spiritual and mythological values. The Bali Museum conducted preservation efforts through processes such as identifying and validating knowledge in local communities and academic circles, recording and storing this knowledge in a database, and disseminating it to the broader community. This study concludes that Peirce's semiotics can assist in identifying the indigenous knowledge of Balinese batik, and in this case, the Bali Museum plays an important role in preserving local wisdom.

Abstract

South–South student mobility has emerged as a significant yet underexplored phenomenon within international education. This study examines the development of South–South mobility research by analysing publication trends, thematic emphases, and research gaps. Drawing on a Bibliometric–Systematic Literature Review (B-SLR) approach, a systematic mapping of 81 empirical studies was conducted, combining descriptive analysis, bibliometric visualization, and thematic clustering techniques. The findings reveal that research remains geographically concentrated on Africa–Asia and Asia–Asia flows, with China, Malaysia, and South Africa serving as dominant destinations. However, newer host countries such as Indonesia and Vietnam are gradually entering the landscape, suggesting emerging shifts in mobility patterns. Thematically, existing scholarship is heavily oriented toward structural factors such as affordability and institutional reputation, while more recent studies begin to explore students’ digital journeys and experiences of transnational belonging. Methodologically, qualitative approaches dominate, although there is a growing need for longitudinal and mixed methods designs to capture the dynamic trajectories of student mobility over time. Significant silences persist, including the underrepresentation of intra-Latin American mobility and limited attention to digital environments shaping students' experiences. The study argues for future research that expands regional coverage, embraces more diverse methodologies, and moves beyond Global North-centric frameworks. By doing so, South–South mobility scholarship can better reflect the complexity and evolving realities of student movements within and across Global South contexts.
