The objective of this study is to identify disparities in menstrual hygiene practices, premenstrual syndrome, and mood swings among female students who participate in sports and those engaged in non-sports extracurricular activities. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 129 female students in senior high school, consisting of 60 students involved in sports extracurricular activities and 69 students not involved in non-sports extracurricular (age= 16.62 ± 0.77 y.o., height= 155.24 ± 5.15 cm, weight= 47.26 ± 8.29 kg, first menstrual period 12.49 ± 1.21 y). The present study employed instruments socio-demographic characteristics, as well as validated questionnaires on menstrual hygiene practices, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and mood swings. Result: The results showed that poor menstrual hygiene practices in students who participated in extracurricular sports with those who did not participate in sports activities were 29 and 35 students, respectively. Students who were involved in non-sports activities exhibited more severe and moderate symptoms of PMS compared to sports students. Additionally, sports students experienced more positive mood swings, while non-sports students reported more negative mood swings. Furthermore, significant differences between female students engaged in sports and those involved in non-sports extracurricular activities were only found in mood swings, neither in menstrual hygiene practices (0.910) nor PMS symptoms (0.776). Conclusion: Schools should promote female students' participation in sports to enhance their emotional well-being. Additionally, they should emphasize menstrual hygiene education and awareness to ensure proper practices among all students. Developing targeted interventions to help students manage PMS symptoms and maintain positive mood swings is also crucial for improving menstrual health and emotional well-being among adolescents.

Abstract

are many ways to overcome and reduce the occurrence of stunting. One of them is doing water activities. The aim of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of water activities and food consumption on psychosocial disorders and anthropometry of stunted toddlers. This research used a one group pre-test and post-test design with a sample size of 7 toddlers and sampling used purposive sampling. Height and weight measurements were taken before and after water activities. Meanwhile, to look at food consumption and psychosocial disorders, the data collection technique is in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that anthropometric values between height and weight had increased compared to psychosocial disorder values. Apart from that, there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest height of stunted toddlers. The significance value for pretest height is 0.430 and posttest is 0.437 (Sig. >0.05). Then it was also proven by the Paired Sample T-test of 0.029 (Sig. <0.05), this means that there is a difference between pretest and posttest body height. Meanwhile, for body weight and psychosocial disorders, the pretest and posttest did not prove to be a significant difference. Apart from that, water activities can increase appetite. In this study, all toddlers were not identified as having any psychosocial disorders. However, the reality in the field is that there are still stunted toddlers who are afraid of doing water activities or getting introduced to water. Further studies regarding implementation and better measurement procedures are needed in future research.

Abstract

Parental support is needed to support the success of a child when practicing and competing. The covid-19 pandemic caused athletes to reduce the frequency and duration of their training resulting in a lack of monitoring from coaches and led to a decrease in motivation. This study has the goal of knowing the relationship between parental support and the motivation to train athletes. The study subjects were 20 karate athletes. Data collection through the dissemination of questionnaires in the form of google forms and disseminated online. Data analysis is carried out by looking for the relationship between two variables, namely by using correlation coefficient analysis with the Statistical Program for Social Sciences (SPSS) application version 20 and the level of significance (p value) < 0.05. It is stated that there is a correlation / relationship if the p value > r table and obtained a result of 0.609 > 0.444 so that the relationship of parental support with athlete training motivation falls into the category of strong correlation. This research can be used as a basis related to the determination of the program by the coach and parent's reference that the parent's support in the form of emotional support, appreciation, information, advice, and praise can make the child develop well, have a sense of trust, so that his hopes can achieve the desired achievement.
