Abstract

This research aims to find out how the reading corner is used to foster students interest in reading in science learning at SDI Dhereisa. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive methods, aiming to see and determine the use of  reading corners to foster students interest in reading in improving science learning at SDI Dhereisa. The targets of this research were all SDI Dhereisa. Students, from grade 1 to grade 6, with a total of 125 students. The problem that researchers found was the lack of students interest in reading in science learning which was still very low. The results of the research show that there has been an increase students interest in reading in science learning at SDI Dhereisa, this can be seen from the increasing number of students who spend time reading in the reading corner. Based on the increase in the number of students visiting the reading corner, it has been shown that having a reading corner can increase students interest in reading in science learning

Abstract

This research aims to apply poster media to increase student’s understanding of science learning at SD Inpres Dhereisa Elementary School. The problem found by researchers was the lack of use of science learning media for student’s, which had an impact on student’s low learning outcomes. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) design. The subjects in this research were 21 grade 5 student’s at SD Inpres Dhereisa. The data collection technique used was an observation sheet on student activities in science learning using posters on human respiratory system materials. The problem found by researchers was the lack of use of science learning media for student’s, which had an impact on student’s low learning outcomes. The results of the research show that there is an increase in student activity in learning science using posters. Student activities that experienced an increase were observing material on the respiratory system in humans using posters, which increased by 24%. Explaining activities increased by 38%, activities responding to and answering questions increased by 34%, activities doing group assignments increased by 28%, and activities presenting group assignments increased by 33% using poster media. Based on student’s activities using poster media, it is proven that poster media can increase student’s understanding of science material

Abstract

Science learning at SDK Majamere is still conventional using the lecture method and without using learning media. This causes low student motivation to take part in learning, thus affecting students' understanding of science learning. This research aims to improve students' understanding after participating in learning using audio-visual media. The subjects of this research were 13 grade VI students at SDK Majamere. The type of research used is classroom action research. Research data was obtained through observation sheets. This research data consists of observed student activity data, namely asking questions, answering, recording important material, and providing suggestions. The results of the research showed that the results of questioning activities had increased, namely from 23.07% in cycle I to 84.61% in cycle II. Answering activity increased from 30.76% in cycle I to 76.92% in cycle II. The activity of recording important material has increased from 38.46% in cycle I to 92.30% in cycle II. The activity of providing advice increased from 15.38% in cycle I to 61.53% in cycle II. Based on the results of this classroom action research, it can be conclude that the application of audio visual media can improve the understanding of class VI students at SDK Majamere, Mauponggo District, Nagekeo Regency

Abstract

This study aims to develop and test the validity and practicality of a light properties box as a learning media for students at UPTD SDI Ngoramawo. This teaching aid is designed to help students understand concepts of light properties, such as light traveling in straight lines, being reflected, refracted, and passing through transparent objects. The research uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a 3D development model (Define, Design, and Develop). The study was conducted at UPTD SDI Ngoramawo, Bajawa Subdistrict, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, involving 5 fourth-grade students and 1 teacher. Data analysis was performed by subject matter experts, design experts, and language experts, all of whom are IPAS teachers. The data used includes quantitative data from expert validation results and responses from students and teachers through questionnaires, as well as qualitative data in the form of suggestions and feedback from the evaluators. The validation results showed a percentage of 90% from the subject matter expert, indicating that the teaching aid is considered highly valid for helping students understand the concepts being taught. This result shows that the teaching aid aligns with the learning objectives and can be easily understood by students. A score of 87% from the design expert reflects the evaluation of the visual and functional aspects of the teaching aid. With this value, the teaching aid is deemed to have a good and effective design in delivering the material, although there may still be small aspects that can be improved. The language expert gave a score of 82%. Teacher responses through the questionnaire reached 90.7%, while student responses reached 88%. The developed light properties box demonstrates high validity and practicality for use in IPAS learning in fourth-grade classrooms. The light properties box developed shows high validity with validation percentages of 90% from the subject matter expert, 87% from the design expert, and 82% from the language expert, indicating that the teaching aid aligns with the learning objectives, has an effective design, and uses clear, easily understandable language. Its practicality is confirmed through positive responses from teachers (90.7%) and students (88%), showing that the teaching aid is easy to use in daily learning and effective in helping students understand the concepts being taught

Abstract

This study is motivated by the low level of science literacy among students, which leads to suboptimal understanding of Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) material, particularly regarding changes in the states of matter. Additionally, in the learning process, teachers have not utilized instructional media that support the comprehension of these concepts. Therefore, the aim of this research is to develop a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) media focused on the topic of changes in the states of matter, to enhance the science literacy skills of fifth-grade students at SDK Wolowio, Beiwali Village, Bajawa District, Ngada Regency. With a total of 19 students involved, determining the sample size and sampling technique is crucial to ensure the validity and reliability of the research findings. This study employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach by implementing the ADDIE development model, which includes the phases of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. To collect relevant data, the researcher utilized several techniques, including initial observations to assess the learning conditions, interviews with related parties to gain in-depth information, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the developed instructional media is feasible for use and has a positive impact on improving the science literacy of students at SDK Wolowio The research findings indicate that implementing the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on the topic of changes in the states of matter effectively enhances the science literacy skills of fifth-grade students at SDK Wolowio. This is evident from the improvement in students' science literacy scores, increasing from 55% in the pre-test to 75% in the post-test, reflecting a significant 20% gain. The feasibility of this learning media is also supported by validation results from experts, with scores as follows: media expert at 83.3%, material expert at 83.75%, and language expert at 88%, all categorized as very valid. Additionally, positive responses were received from both teachers and students, with questionnaire scores of 86.25% and 80%, respectively. Students demonstrated enthusiasm in using the props for changes in the states of matter and were able to better understand the types and characteristics of these changes

Abstract

This research aims to improve students' reading literacy at UPTD SDI Waewaru through the implementation of science wall magazine media. The method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of two cycles, where each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study are 30 students selected as respondents. Data were collected using observations and tests in the form of multiple-choice questions to measure the students' reading literacy levels. The research results show a significant improvement in students' reading literacy after the implementation of the science wall magazine program. In the first cycle, as many as 20 students had a low reading literacy level. However, after the implementation of cycle II, the number decreased to only 8 students. This shows that the science wall magazine media is effective in improving students' reading literacy skills. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of science wall magazines can be an effective solution to improve students' reading literacy in elementary schools. Therefore, this program is recommended as a learning medium that can be applied to support literacy improvement efforts in schools

Abstract

This study aims to describe the science learning media based on scientific literacy on the simple respiratory system material at SDI Pemana. The low scientific literacy at SDI Pemana causes students to be less responsive to developments and problems that occur in the surrounding environment, especially those related to natural phenomena. The type of research used in this study is the ADDIE research and development model which consists of five stages, namely (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The subjects in this study were 30 fifth grade students. The sample in this study was taken as a total sample (total sampling), where all fifth grade students were used as respondents in the trial of science literacy-based science learning media. The results of the study conducted at SDI Pemana showed that science literacy-based science learning media on the digestive system material was very feasible to be used in science learning. The feasibility of this product was analyzed through a validation process by material experts and media experts, and reinforced by the results of field trials that showed a positive response from students and teachers to the use of the media in learning activities. Based on the research conducted related to the development of science learning media based on scientific literacy on simple respiratory system material at SDI Pemana which has been carried out, it can be concluded that the development of this learning media has been successful and very useful in improving students' scientific literacy at SDI Pemana
