Abstract

The equilibrium of the money market within both conventional and Islamic economic systems. Using the IS-LM theoretical framework, it outlines the fundamental differences between the two systems, particularly in terms of the motives for money demand, monetary policy instruments, and their implications for economic stability. In Islamic economics, speculative motives are prohibited, and financial instruments must be free from usury (riba). The discussion also highlights the role of zakat and social responsibility in maintaining monetary equilibrium

Abstract

Exchange rates play an important role in the global economy. In the conventional system, exchange rates are determined by market mechanisms that can cause economic instability due to speculation and currency fluctuations. In contrast, Islamic economics emphasizes stability, fairness, and the prohibition of speculative practices (gharar) in transactions. This study aims to compare the concept of exchange rates between Islamic and conventional economic systems. The method used is a literature study with a qualitative approach, using Islamic and conventional economic literature sources. The results of the analysis show that the exchange rate system in Islamic economics emphasizes stability and fairness through the support of intrinsic value and the avoidance of speculation, while the conventional system tends to be influenced by free market forces that are vulnerable to uncertainty. In conclusion, the Islamic approach to exchange rates offers a more stable and ethical alternative in maintaining economic balance.

Abstract

The Indonesian capital market is facing a digital era that brings various challenges as well as opportunities to increase public investment interest. Technological transformation, especially through digital platforms, has provided wider and more practical access for the public to invest. However, public participation is still low due to various factors such as lack of financial literacy, limited number of issuers and investment products, and the prevalence of unhealthy practices such as gorengan shares. This study uses a qualitative approach with analysis of relevant literature, and aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the actual conditions of the Indonesian capital market, the structural challenges faced, and potential strategies to encourage the growth of domestic investors. The results of the study show that with the support of inclusive policies, collaboration between stakeholders, and optimal use of digital technology, the Indonesian capital market has the potential to become one of the main pillars of inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Currency exchange rates are important for many economic activities, including capital flows, international trade, and investment. These activities have an impact on the competitiveness of domestic goods, the welfare of individuals, and the stability of the economy as a whole. The economic system in use determines how exchange rates are handled.  The notion of exchange rates in conventional and Islamic economics, as well as its effects on economic stability, are examined in this study using a qualitative approach and a literature study methodology. Descriptive analysis is performed on secondary data gathered from different literature sources and fatwas. The results demonstrate that, in order to lower the risk of exchange rate volatility, the Islamic economy places a strong emphasis on the values of justice, the prohibition of usury, and transparent cash transactions. In contrast, the conventional economic system depends on market mechanisms and interest rate-based monetary policies that are susceptible to fluctuations and speculation.  More socially just and durable stability may be possible with this Islamic economic strategy.  Consequently, using Islamic economic concepts to manage exchange rates can be a useful substitute for preserving the stability of the national economy.

Abstract

The goods market is a key component in macroeconomic analysis, as it determines the equilibrium between output and national income, in conventional economics, the equilibrium of the goods market is analyzed using the IS Investment-Saving curve, which shows a negative relationship between interest rates and national income. However, this approach is not aligned witah Islamic economic principles, as it relies on interest (riba), which is prohibited under Sharia law. Instead, Islamic economics employs a profit-sharing mechanism through instruments such as mudharabah to determine investment returns. This approach also emphasizes the importance of moral values, ethics, and social justice as integral parts of a more civilized economic system. Within the Islamic framework, the IS curve still reflects the relationship between investment and savings, but without involving elements of riba. It is instead grounded in principles of justice, transparency, and public welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the use of village funds in rural infrastructure development in Lampung Province. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through literature review, the research analyzes various official documents, government reports, and relevant previous studies. The findings indicate that the increase in village fund allocation from 2016 to 2018 had a positive impact on infrastructure development, such as village roads, irrigation channels, and other public facilities. However, the effectiveness of fund utilization is still influenced by several internal village factors, including human resource capacity, the functionality of village institutions, and community involvement. The main challenges in managing village funds include the lack of technical training for village officials, weak oversight systems, and limited public participation in the development process. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the capacity of village officials, strengthen accountability systems, and optimize community participation to ensure that rural infrastructure development can be carried out more effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.

Abstract

Abstract This study analyzes the effect of inflation and exchange rates on the demand for money in Indonesia using qualitative methods. Data were obtained from interviews with economic experts, monetary policy analysis, and literature studies from official sources such as Bank Indonesia and the Central Bureau of Statistics. The results of the study indicate that high inflation tends to reduce public confidence in the value of money, thus encouraging them to switch to more stable forms of assets. Meanwhile, changes in exchange rates have an impact on the level of transactions and liquidity in the economy. These findings provide insight for policy makers in designing economic stabilization strategies that are more adaptive and responsive to macroeconomic conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine monetary policy from the perspective of the three major schools of thought in Islamic economics Mainstream, Alternative, and Revivalist schools with a focus on the concept of money demand. These schools differ significantly in their epistemological foundations, methodologies, and approaches to economic theory and policy within the Islamic framework. This research employs a qualitative-descriptive method through a literature review of various prominent Islamic economic thinkers. The findings reveal that the Mainstream school is adaptive to the modern economic system, accepting conventional monetary instruments adapted to Sharia principles, and interprets money demand through a modified Keynesian approach that excludes speculative motives. In contrast, the Alternative school rejects interest-based monetary systems, emphasizes the role of the real sector, and views money as a tool for productive transactions that must avoid accumulation and speculation. Meanwhile, the Revivalist school takes a normative and idealistic stance, advocating a return to the dinar and dirham (gold and silver currency) system and rejecting fiat money, aiming to establish monetary justice based on intrinsic value. The study concludes that the differences among these schools reflect the rich diversity of thought within Islamic economics. No single school offers a definitive solution to monetary issues, making an integrated approach across schools more contextual and applicable in formulating Islamic monetary policies that are just, stable, and responsive to the challenges of the global economy.
