Abstract

In type 2 diabetes mellitus, lipid profile is often found in the form of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) decrease. TNFa and IL-6 are proinflammatory cytokines that are elevated in the blood in many patients with diabetes mellitus. Turmeric is one of the natural ingredients that have anti-cholesterol and anti-inflammatory effects through the work of its active substance, curcumin. This study aims to evaluate the effect of turmeric extract combined with metformin on HDL, TNFa, and IL-6 levels in diabetic rats. Twenty-four Wistar rats were injected intraperitoneally with streptozotocin and niacinamide. The diabetic rats were divided into control, metformin, turmeric, and combination groups. The dose of metformin and turmeric were given, respectively, 45mg/KgBW/day and 200 mg/KgBW/day. At the same time, the combo group was given a half dose of each. Blood serum was taken to examine the HDL, IL-6, and TNFa levels. The levels of HDL, IL-6, and TNFain diabetic rats that received the combination of metformin and turmeric extract (p0.05) were the best among all the groups. It indicated that the combination of metformin and turmeric was better in increasing HDL and reducing IL-6 and TNFa levels better than metformin or turmeric extract alone.

Abstract

Purpose: The current study investigated the protective potential of Apium graveolens extract (APE) against lead-induced brain injury in rats by exploring anti-inflammatory and antiapoptotic mechanism. Methods: Twenty male Wistar rats were randomly allocated into four groups (n=5). The control group was orally administrated with distillate water. The second group received lead acetate 200mg/kg body weight orally for 14 days, the third group were orally administered lead acetate 200 mg lead acetate/kg body weight and vitamin E 50IU/kg body weight for 14 days. The fourth group was administrated with leas acetate like second group and APE 300mg/kg body weight for 14 days. The TNF-a levels and caspase-3 expression was analyses under ELISA and flow cytometry assay, respectively. Results: The phytochemical analysis of APE indicated the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. Leads acetate increased the serum levels of TNF-α and caspase-3 expression, as well as altering the brain tissue architecture. Conclusion: In conclusion, the presence of APE inhibited the lead acetate toxicity by inhibition of TNF-α proinflammation protein and caspase-3 proapoptosis protein.

Abstract

Background To determine the effect of Apium graveolens L (Celery) extract in the TNF-α and caspase-3 gene expression on the lead poisoning-induced renal injury rats’ model. Methods This study is experimental research with post test only control group design. Twenty male Wistar rats were randomly allocated into four groups (n=5). The control group was orally administrated with distillate water. The second group received lead acetate 200mg/kg body weight orally for 14 days, the third group were orally administered lead acetate 200 mg lead acetate/kg body weight and vitamin E 50IU/kg body weight for 14 days. The fourth group was administrated with leas acetate like second group and celery extract 300mg/kg body weight for 14 days. The TNF-a and caspase-3 gene expression was analyses under qRT-PCR. Results The phytochemical analysis of APE indicated the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids. Leads acetate increased the TNF-α (3.87±0.09) and caspase-3 (7.95±0.23) gene expression. The celery extract was significantly decrease in the TNF-α (3.13±0.34) and caspase-3 (2.48±1.23) gene expression. Conclusion: In conclusion, the presence of celery extract inhibited the renal injury-induced lead acetate toxicity by inhibition of TNF-α proinflammation protein and caspase-3 proapoptosis protein

Abstract

Karies gigi atau gigi berlubang merupakan masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut yang paling sering ditemui pada anak sekolah. Gambir (Uncaria gambir [Roxb.]) merupakan salah satu obat tradisional yang dimanfaatkan bersama daun sirih untuk memperkuat gigi. Akan tetapi, tidak semua warga mengetahui manfaat rebusan gambir untuk kesehatan gigi. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PkM) bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan mengetahui manfaat air rebusan gambir sebagai obat kumur pencegah plak gigi bagi kader PKK di Kelurahan Bandardowo, Semarang. Edukasi berupa penyuluhan diberikan dalam bentuk presentasi dengan power point kemudian diikuti oleh tanya jawab interaktif. Kegiatan dimulai dengan pembukaan yang menjelaskan tentang tujuan umum edukasi pencegahan plak gigi. Untuk mengetahui tingkat pemahaman awal peserta sebelum edukasi dilaksanakan pre-test yang diberikan melalui kuesioner. Kegiatan PkM diikuti oleh 20 orang Ibu-Ibu kader PKK yang berusia 30-50 tahun (60%) bekerja sebagai Ibu Rumah Tangga. Pemberian edukasi berpengaruh secara signifikan (p<0.05) dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta sebelum dan sesudah edukasi. Nilai rerata post-test mengalami peningkatan 2,84 poin dibandingkan dengan nilai pre-test. Edukasi bermanfaat meningkatkan rerata nilai tingkat pengetahuan peserta mengenai manfaat air rebusan gambir dalam mencegah terjadinya karies gigi, khususnya pada anak-anak.Dental caries or cavities are schoolchildren's most common dental and oral health problems. Gambir (Uncaria gambir [Roxb.]) is a traditional medicine used with betel leaves to strengthen teeth. However, not all residents know the benefits of gambier decoction for dental health. Community service activities (PkM) aim to increase knowledge about the benefits of gambier boiled water as a mouthwash to prevent dental plaque for PKK cadres in Bandardowo Village, Semarang. Education in the form of counseling is given in the form of a PowerPoint presentation followed by interactive questions and answers. The activity began with an opening explaining the general objectives of dental plaque prevention education. A pre-test was administered via a questionnaire to determine the participants' initial level of understanding before education. The PkM activity was attended by 20 PKK cadre mothers aged 30-50 years (60%) who worked as housewives. Providing education significantly effect (p<0.05) in increasing participants' knowledge before and after education. The average post-test score increased by 2.84 points compared to the pre-test. Education helps increase the average value of participants' knowledge level regarding the benefits of gambier boiled water in preventing dental caries, especially in children.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease, which is often abbreviated as PGK, is a serious disease that is of major concern to society and the medical world. This disease can cause various serious complications if not treated properly and early. Therefore, accurate prediction of CKD is very important to support early intervention that can slow disease progression, prevent further complications, and increase the patient's chances of recovery. This research aims to increase the accuracy of PGK predictions by developing a hybrid model that combines the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm with optimization using the Genetic Algorithm (GA). In this approach, the KNN algorithm is used to build a prediction model, while GA acts as an optimization tool that improves model performance. The effectiveness of the optimized model is evaluated using key metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and area under the curve (AUC). The results show a significant increase in performance, with accuracy increasing by 17.75%, precision increasing by 23.84%, and recall increasing by 5.34%. This research makes an important contribution to the development of data mining technology for clinical applications and opens up opportunities for further improvements in the future in increasing the prediction accuracy of chronic diseases such as CKD

Abstract

A  decrease in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) happens in type 2 diabetes mellitus. The cytokines TNFa and IL-6 are proinflammatory cytokines that are elevated in the blood in many patients with DM. Turmeric is one of the natural ingredients with antioxidant, anti-cholesterol, and anti-inflammatory properties through its active substance, curcumin. Objective: To prove the effectiveness of the combination of metformin and turmeric extract on HDL levels, TNFa levels, and IL-6 levels in Streptozotocin-Nicotinamide-induced Wistar rats. Methods: The study used a post-test-only controlled group design. The subjects were 24 male Wistar rats which were randomly divided into four groups, namely K1, K2, P1, and P2. The whole group was a type 2 DM model induced by streptozotocin-nicotinamide. Group K2 was given metformin 45mg/KgBW/day, group P1 was given turmeric extract at a dose of 200 mg/KgBW/day, and group P2 was given a combination of metformin and turmeric extract. On day 15, blood was drawn for HDL, IL-6, and TNFa examination. The data were analyzed using the one-way Anova test. Results: The mean HDL level in the P2 group (72,4±33,31) was the highest compared to the other three groups. The lowest mean TNFa level among the four groups was the P2 group (7,56±0,44). The lowest mean levels of IL-6 were obtained in the P2 group (58,82±2,15). One-way Anova test on HDL, IL-6, and TNFa levels showed a significant difference between groups with p-value = 0.000. Conclusion: The combination of metformin and turmeric extract can increase HDL levels and reduce IL-6 levels and TNFa levels better than giving metformin or turmeric extract alone.Keywords:  turmeric extract, HDL, IL-6, TNFa

Abstract

Pertumbuhan dan perkembangan bayi merupakan aspek penting yang dipengaruhi oleh stimulasi dini. Salah satu masalah yang sering terjadi adalah kurangnya stimulasi pada bayi, khususnya dalam posisi tengkurap, yang mempengaruhi kemampuan motorik kasar, seperti mengangkat kepala. Tummy time exercise adalah metode stimulasi untuk meningkatkan kekuatan otot leher, bahu, dan punggung bayi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh tummy time exercise terhadap kemampuan motorik kasar mengangkat kepala bayi usia 0 – 4 bulan di Puskesmas Bangetayu Kota Semarang. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Data diperoleh dari 60 bayi yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi melalui teknik consecutive sampling di Puskesmas Bangetayu Kota Semarang. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner. Data dianalisis menggunkan uji chi square dengan nilai sig (p<0,05) untuk mengetahui pengaruh tummy time exercise terhadap kemampuan motorir kasar mengangkat kepala bayi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa bayi yang secara teratur melakukan tummy time exercise memiliki kemampuan motorik kasar yang lebih baik dibandingkan yang tidak teratur melakukan tummy time exercise. Sebanyak 86,1% bayi yang teratur melakukan tummy time exercise memiliki kemampuan motorik kasar nomal, dibandingkan dengan 45,8% bayi yang tidak teratur melakukan tummy time exercise. Hasil analisis dengan uji chi square diperoleh nilai sig (p-value): 0,001 (p<0,05); PR: 1,879. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa tummy time exercise berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan motorik kasar mengangkat kepala bayi usia 0 – 4 bulan di Puskesmas Bangetayu Kota Semarang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tingkat Pengaruh Citra Merek Produk Kacamata Terhadap Minat Beli Konsumen Pada Optik Cirebon Eye Center (CEC). Dimana yang menjadi repon den adalah konsumen Optik Cirebon Eye Center (CEC) yang berjumlah samplenya 85 responden. Kuesioner yang dibagikan terdiri dari 17 pertanyaan mengenai citra mereka dan terdiri dari 18 pertanyaan mengenai minat beli konsumen. Mempunyai lima pilihan jawaban yaitu sangat setuju (5), setuju (4), ragu-ragu (3), tidak setuju (2), sangat tidak setuju (1). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian survey yang dilakukan penulis melalui observasi lapangan dan pengolahan data menggunakan program SPSS menunjukan bahwa ada pengaruh positif dari citra merek terhadap minat beli konsumen, dilihat dari persamaan regresi sederhana Y = 34.747 + 0,237x dapat penulis analisis bahwa persamaan tersebut menunjukan suatu pengaruh yang positif dari variabel X terhadap Y, karena hal ini berarti setiap kenaikan variabel X sebesar 1, maka efektivitas pengendalian minat beli konsumen akan terwujud sebesar 0,237. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang peneliti ajukan diterima, yaitu ada suatu pengaruh positif dari variabel citra merekkacamata terhadapminat beli konsumen di Cirebon Eye Centre. Untuk pengujian secara parsial, dari hasil perhitungan SPSS didapatkan hasil T hitung untuk variabel X (kualitas pelayanan) sebesar 1,679 dan dapat diketahui nilai ttabel sebesar 1,663 (dk= n-1, 85-1 = 84) dimana tingkat signifikan sebesar 5% (0,05), sehingga thitung lebih besar dari pada ttabel (1,679 > 1,663) maka H1 akan diterima dan Ho ditolak. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan ada pengaruh signifikan secara parsial dari variabel citra merek kacamata terhadap minat beli konsumen di Cirebon Eye Centre.

Abstract

In the world of education, multimedia is used as an effective, attractive, efficient, and easy-to-use learning media in terms of learning assessment. Currently, the method of learning English at YPK Karya High School is still face-to-face and textbooks, the difficulty of students cannot listen to the speech and vocabulary sentences conveyed by the teacher and cannot write the vocabulary sentences correctly, therefore researchers make alternative English learning with multimedia, as an easy and interactive learning solution. The model used is ADDIE, and there are 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects in this study were 1 principal, 2 teachers, 3 students. The methods used to collect data were interviews and observations. After obtaining the results of the analysis, the researcher designs the device requirements and multimedia design with the aim of providing a complete picture of the application. The design was performed using the Flash Professional CS5 application, an application specifically designed to create animation, and Photoshop 7.0 for image creation. Finally, the application for failures, system errors, and application maintenance. The results of the research on interactive learning English with multimedia are very helpful for students of SMA YPK Karya Tangerang because it is simpler and easier to repeat.

Abstract

Post-menopausal osteoporosis is a degenerative disease among post-menopausal women. In Indonesia, women over 50 years old get post-menopausal osteoporosis.The therapy should be comprehensive and continous. Bisphosphonate therapy is one of the most preferable therapeutic option for maintaining bone density. Calcium and vitamin D have a role in increasing osteoblastic activity. The objective of this study was to describe the vitamin D and calcium in bone mineral density (BMD) of hip and spine in postmenopausal woman with biphosphonat therapy. This study is a cross-sectional, observational analytic. The subject were female patients with post-menopausal osteoporosis treated in clinic of RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang, who had received routine bisphosphonate for at least 1 year. The method was collecting the patient data, who received oral and injectie bisphosphonate therapy, serial BMD test,hip and spine, vitamin D and calcium level in serum test. Total sample 25 participan, the association between BMD change (Δ BMD), vitamin D and calcium level, were analyzed.with Chi Square test then continued using Spearman correlation test. Vitamin D levels in Δ BMD Spine in participants was less <30 ng/ml, mean 16.8+6.95 14 respondents (56%), and 6 respondens (24%) 10.05+5.28, normal vitamin D levels were 5 respondents (20%) mean 34.16+5.10. Vitamin D levels in Δ BMD Hip in participants was less <30 ng/ml, mean 15.19+7.7 12 respondents (48%), and 8 respondens (32%) 12.30+5.57, normal vitamin D levels were 5 respondents (20%) 33.66+5.40. Calcium levels in BMD spine 9.60+0.45, 14 respondents (56%), and 11 respondens (44%) 9.59+0.52. There is a significant and moderate relationship between vitamin D levels with Δ BMD spine (p=0.009, r=0.564) and Hip (p=0.039, r= 0.480) T Blood calcium levels with Δ BMD changes unrelated (normal). There is a significant association between vitamin D levels spine and Hip Δ BMD. Blood calcium levels with Δ BMD changes unrelated.Keywords: Osteoporosis, Bisphosphonate, Vitamin D levels, Calcium levels.
