Abstract

Etlingera rubroloba A.D. Poulsen (E. rubroloba) merupakan tumbuhan endemik di Sulawesi Tenggara, dan secara empris oleh masyarakat etnis Wawonii digunakan untuk menyembuhkan demam tifoid dan meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh (imunostimulator), secara ilmiah terbukti meningkatkan aktivitas fagositosis sel makrofag sehingga berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai imunomodulator alami. Tujuan penelitian yaitu mengetahui efek imunostilator ekstrak etanol buah E. rubroloba dengan, mengukur peningkatan kadar Interferon gama (IFN-?) pada tikus wistar. Metode penelitian ini yaitu eksperimental menggunakan 24 tikus wistar jantan, dibagi dalam 6 kelompok perlakuan yaitu ekstrak dosis 200, 300, 400 (mg/kgBB), kontrol positif (ekstrak meniran komersil), kontrol pelarut (Na.CMC 0,5%), dan kontrol normal. Perlakuan diberikan secara peroral setiap hari, selama 7 hari, hari kedelapan hewan uji diinfeksikan secara intraperitonial bakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Kadar IFN-? dianalisis dengan metode Elisa sandwich, dan data diuji statistik dengan ANOVA satu arah. Penelitian ini memberikan hasil bahwa, perlakuan ketiga dosis ekstrak etanol dari buah E. rubroloba berefek sebagai imunostimulator, dengan meningkatkan  kadar IFN-?, dan secara statistik berbeda bermakna terhadap kontrol pelarut (p<0,05), sehingga tumbuhan ini menjadi salah satu alternatif agen imunomodulator dari alam yang dapat dikembangkan.  Kata Kunci : Buah Etlingera rubroloba, ekstrak etanol, Interferon gama,  Imunodulator, tikus wistar.

Abstract

Etlingera alba is a plant in Southeast Sulawesi that has antioxidant activity. Natural ingredients such as herbal medicine require a delivery system that facilitates them to reach the site of drug action, especially for transdermal delivery. The elastic vesicle system is a transdermal delivery system that can increase the penetration of active substances at the skin through the act of phospholipids on the skin's lipid bilayer and the deformability of the vesicles. This study aims to formulate and evaluate Etlingera alba rhizome ethanolic extract's elastic vesicle gel to obtain the optimal concentration of Tween 60 as a vesicle former and carbopol as a gel base. Preparation of elastic vesicles of Etlingera alba ethanolic extract using the heat method through variations Tween 60's concentration, namely 5%(F1); 10%(F2); 15%(F3); and 20%(F4). Meanwhile, elastic vesicle gel formulation of the ethanol extract of Etlingera alba rhizome used various concentrations of 0.5% carbopol gel base (FGel 1); 1% (FGel 2); 1.5% (FGel 3); and 2% (FGel 4). The results obtained were the optimum concentration of Tween 60 as a constituent of elastic vesicles of 15% (F4) with spherical morphology using an optical microscope, vesicle size of 10.45 nm, and polydispersity index of 0.280 using a Particle Size Analyzer. In addition, the optimal concentration of carbopol as a base for elastic vesicle gel is a concentration of 0.5% (GGel 1) with white color, distinctive aroma, and thick texture, and has a pH of 6, a viscosity of 2,366 cPs, spread of 6.8 cm, and physically stable through cycling test.

Abstract

Indonesia has an incredibly high level of biodiversity, which makes it rich in various potentially medicinal plants. One of these is the family medicinal plant (Sari and Andjasmara, 2023). TOGA is a homegrown cultivated plant known for its herbal medicinal properties. Herbal medicine is derived from plants and processed or extracted in such a way that it becomes a powder, pill, or liquid without the use of chemicals. As it is commonly known, herbal medicines can treat diseases with minimal side effects because they are made from natural ingredients (Wulandari et al., 2017). The purpose of this community service activity is to enhance the understanding and skills of the community in utilizing plants found in the yards of the local households in the Pohara village, Sampara Subdistrict, Konawe District. These plants can be used in the production of herbal products such as herbal drinks and mosquito repellent sprays. This community service involved 31 community leaders and local residents. The method employed for community service was active participation, starting with socialization, herbal product preparation, and focused discussion sessions with community interaction. As a result of the community activities in the Pohara village, there was an improvement in skills, increased knowledge about herbal preparations, and an enhanced understanding of how to produce herbal products that are of good quality, hygienic, and safe for consumption.

Abstract

Penduduk Desa Lamomea Kecamatan Konda Kabupaten Konawe Selatan Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara sebagian besar masyarakatnya berpendidikan minimal rata-rata lulusan SMA, sehingga pengetahuan tentang budidaya dan pemanfaatan tanaman obat masih sangat kurang. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk membantu pelaksanaan program pemerintah terkait pemanfaatan tanaman obat. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk menyampaikan informasi tentang tanaman obat melalui sosialisasi, diskusi, dan praktik langsung budidaya tanaman obat keluarga di pekarangan rumah. Evaluasi peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dilakukan dengan pre-test dan post-test. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dasar tentang jenis, manfaat, dan cara membuat ramuan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan adanya keberhasilan dan sangat bermanfaat, karena adanya peningkatan pengetahuan dengan skor rata-rata lebih dari 60 yaitu skor rata-rata post-test 86.11 dibandingkan saat sebelum kegiatan dari nilai rata-rata pre-test 59.72. Masyarakat menunjukkan keterampilan yang memadai saat melakukan praktik langsung mulai dari penanaman, hingga pemeliharaan tanaman. Hasil budidaya tanaman obat ini, selain merupakan upaya pelestarian tanaman obat tradisional, juga mampu menghasilkan produk kosmetik yang kemudian dapat di manfaatkan sebagai produk herbal atau dijual untuk menambah nilai ekonomi.

Abstract

Laimeo merupakan sebuah wilayah yang ada di pesisir laut. dikarenakan hal tersebut, mayoritas mata pencaharian masyarakat setempat adalah nelayan. Sementara itu, terdapat kekayaan alam lain yang dapat dimanfaatakan potensinya dalam bidang kesehatan dan inovasi usaha lainnya. Obat-obatan tradisional Indonesia umumnya memiliki peranan yang sangat besar terutama dalam kaitannya dengan pelayanan kesehatan masyarakat. Namun demikian tampaknya pemanfaatan tanaman obat di Indonesia masih belum dilakukan secara optimal untuk kesehatan. Padahal saat ini biaya pengobatan modern cukup mahal di tambah lagi dengan krisis ekonomi yang belum sepenuhnya berakhir. Tujuan pengabdian ini untuk memberikan meningkatkan pemahaman terhadap potensi tanaman desa dalam bidang kesehatan dan beragam inovasi usaha. Metode Pengabdian dilakukan dengan memberi sosiaisasi (ceramah dan tanya jawab) pada kelompok masyarakat di desa Laimeo, Kecamatan Sawa, Kabupaten Konawe Utara. Hasil pengabdian yang dilakukan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat desa laimeo tentang tanaman obat yang ada disekitarnya.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of the gel formula based on it’s organoleptic properties, pH, viscosity, dispersion and homogenity by stability test carried out using the cycling test method and to determine the anti-inflammatory activity of the Xestospongia Sp. in male white mice (Mus musculus) by creating an artificial edema on the mice left foot induced by 1% λ-carrageenan. The gel formula from the ethanol extract of Xestospongia Sp. sponge was physically stable in terms of its organoleptic observation, homogenity, pH and viscosity test. However, the results that were obtained after dispersion test did not fulfill the requirements. In this study, the gel formula of the ethanol extract of Xestospongia Sp. sponge was administered on the mice left foot by using the variations in extract concentration of 0.02%, 0.03%, and 0.04%, and the gel without extract as a negative control and Galtaren®gel (1% Diclofenac Sodium) as a positive control. The evaluated data were in the form of mice leg edema volume measured based on its percent of inflammation and percent of inflammatory inhibition and observed for 360 minutes. The data were analyzed by using the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test with a confidence level of 95%. The results of this study showed that the gel formula of ethanol extract of Xestospongia Sp. sponge has an anti-inflammatory effect on each concentration and the formula that has a large anti-inflammatory effect was obtained at extract concentration of 0.04%.

Abstract

The previous study reported that Etlingera elatior (Wualae) has activity as immunostimulant with dose at 300 mg/kg BW and 400 mg/kg BW. Formulating natural product into effervescent granule (GE) can increase practicality and interest to consume traditional medicine. This study aims to investigate the immunostimulant activity of Wualae ethanolic extract in the effervescent granule. Wualae was macerated with ethanol then formulated into effervescent granule at dose 300 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW. Formulations were evaluated. Animals were divided into 4 groups and treated with: group I (positive control); group II (negative control); group III (GE dose at 300mg/kgBW); and group IV (GE at dose 400mg/kgBW) for 7 days and at days 8, groups were infected by Staphylococcus aureus intraperitoneally. Immunostimulant activity was measured by calculating the Specific Phagocytic Activity (SPA) of macrophage. Data collected from the evaluation and measurement of the SPA then analyzed using SPSS. Results from the evaluation were considered good except the moisture content of effervescent granule. Results from SPA was found that effervescent granule at dose 300 mg/kgBW and at dose 400 mg/kgBW have 26.33% and 32.5% consecutively with significance 0.02 (p<0.05). Thus, effervescent granule has comparable phagocytosis activity with positive control.

Abstract

Etlingera elatior (Jack) R.M Smith or locally in Southeast Sulawesi known as Wualae fruit has activity as an immunomodulator by increasing phagocytosis activity. Prior studies have been conducted to observe the effect of E. elatior as an immunomodulator, thus further study is needed to observe the production of cytokines such as IL-1β and IL-6 which are responsible for the immune responses. Etlingera elatior fruit macerated with 96% ethanol for three days and produced a total of ±74.6 g concentrated extract. Experimental animals used were divided into four groups (n=4) and treated orally once a day for seven days as follows: group I (0.5% Na CMC); group II (Stimuno®); group III (E. elatior fruit extract dose of 300 mg/kg BW); and group IV (E. elatior fruit extract dose of 400 mg/kg BW). On the eight-day, animals were infected with Staphylococcus aureus intraperitoneally and left for an hour. Thereafter, blood was collected and assayed using ELISA Kit (Elabscience rat IL-1β and Elabscience rat IL-6). Results demonstrated that group IV increased levels of IL-1β and group III and IV increased level of IL-6 (p<0.05). Increased levels of IL-1β and IL-6 are associated with phagocytosis in the immune response. In conclusion, E. elatior fruit extract at doses of 300 and 400 mg/kg BW increases levels of IL-1β and IL-6.

Abstract

Tanaman dari genus Etlingera terbukti memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Antioksidan memiliki peran dalam melindungi sel dari stres oksidatif dan peradangan yang disebabkan oleh kerusakan hati sehingga berkontribusi terhadap efek hepatoprotektif. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengevaluasi aktivitas antioksidan dan hepatoprotektor dari ekstrak etanol Etlingera calophrys (EEEC) pada mencit jantan galur BALB/c usia 8-10 minggu yang diinduksi karbon tetraklorida (CCl4). Pengujian antioksidan dilakukan menggunakan metode ABTS. Pengujian hepatoprotektor menggunakan tiga variasi dosis EEEC (100, 250 dan 500 mg/kgBB) yang diberikan secara oral selama tujuh hari berturut-turut dan kemudian dilakukan evaluasi parameter biokimia darah yaitu SGOT, SGPT dan ALP. Setelah itu, hasil yang didapatkan dianalisis menggunakan oneway ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan EEEC memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 20,03 mg/L. EEEC juga memiliki efek hepatoprotektor pada dosis dosis 100 mg/kgBB yang ditunjukan dengan adanya penurunan kadar SGOT, SGPT, dan ALP secara signifikan (p < 0,05). Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak etanol Etlingera calophrys memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat dan berpotensi sebagai hepatoprotektor dengan mekanisme yang melibatkan aktivitas antioksidan dan kandungan flavonoid serta fenolik yang ditemukan dalam ekstrak.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang efek imunomodulator ekstrak etanol daun galing (Cayratia trifolia L. Domin.) terhadap daya fagositosis makrofag mencit jantan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efek imunomodulator ekstrak etanol daun galing terhadap peningkatan aktivitas fagositosis sel makrofag mencit jantan. Ekstrak uji dibuat dengan dua variasi dosis 400 mg/kgBB dan 500 mg/kgBB. Hasil yang didapatkan menunjukkan bahwa semua pemberian perlakuan dosis ekstrak memberikan hasil yang baik terhadap peningkatan akivitas fagositosis sel makrofag, persen aktivitas sel makrofag tertinggi ditunjukkan pada pemberian dosis ekstak 500 mg/kgBB yaitu sebesar 65, 4%, dibandingkan dengan peningkatan aktivitas sel pada dosis 400mg/kgBB dan kontrol positif dengan masing-masing memiliki persen aktivitas sel sebesar 55, 4% dan 60, 5%. Sedangkan nilai aktivitas sel terendah ditunjukkan pada kelompok kontrol negatif (NaCMC) dengan persen aktivitas sel sebesar 37, 8%. Hasil analisis data statistik (ANOVA) menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak etanol daun galing (C. trifolia L. Domin.) dapat meningkatkan imunitas non spesifik (p0,05).
