Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the extender combination of dates and ringer lactate extracts on the quality of spermatozoa of some freshwater fish in the process of preserving spermatozoa. The process of sperm preservation depends on the nutrients provided by the extender material. Ringer lactate has been used as an extender in the process of preserving sperm which is useful as an energy provider. Other energy can be obtained from materials that contain fructose or glucose. Date palm juice is one ingredient that has a fructose and glucose content that is expected to help provide energy for sperm during the process of sperm preservation. In this study an experiment of sperm preservation of several freshwater fishes carp (Carassius auratus), Siamese catfish (Pangasius hypophthalmus), and Koi (Cyprinus carpio) using an extender made in combination from ringer lactate and date palm solution. This study used different concentrations of date extracts i.e. 0.5%, 1%, 2.5%, 2% used randomized group design with fish as group. The results showed that the average of the Siamese’s motility achieved the highest value (52,00%) while the highest average fertilization rate occurred on Carp spermatozoa with a value of 97,06%. Palm juice solution can provide nutrients to the spermatozoa during the preservation process because the juice of dates contains fructose and glucose so that preserved spermatozoa can still fertilize normally.

Abstract

Tilapia is euryhaline fish which is commonly cultivated in former shrimp ponds, and belongs to mouthbreeders. The purpose of this study was to determine the hatching success of Tilapia eggs outside the mother's mouth, which was carried out in the salinity medium added with bromelain and papain enzymes. The research method was factorial CRD with enzyme (factor A) and salinity (factor B), with three replications. The research was conducted at the Fish Cultivation laboratory of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Brawijaya University in January-February 2020. The results showed that papain had more effect on hatchability (93.77%), while the salinity of 5 ppt was the salinity that produced the highest hatchability (93.89%). Moreover, the hatchability was also influenced by the interaction between the enzyme and salinity, namely papain enzyme with a salinity of 5 ppt (98.89%). Meanwhile, bromelain had more effect on the survival of larvae (87.86%), and the salinity that produced the highest survival rate was at 5 ppt (85.75%), but the interaction between enzyme and salinity did not have an effect on the survival of larvae.

Abstract

Melambungnya harga pakan ikan buatan pabrik (Rp. 10.000,- per kg) mengakibatkan keuntungan budidaya ikan lele semakin bertambah. DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v1i1.1171

Abstract

Applications for handling hybrid grouper eggs (Epinephelus lanceolatus x Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) include the initial egg handling process, egg selection, egg counting and egg observation. The initial handling of hybrid grouper eggs (Epinephelus lanceolatus x Epinephelus fuscoguttatus) begins with stripping the female tiger grouper and male giant grouper to get eggs and sperm. Mixing eggs and sperm is done using chicken feathers. Egg selection is done to separate good and bad quality eggs. Good quality eggs will float on the surface, are round, transparent in color and have a core. Poor quality eggs will sink to the bottom and become milky white. The egg calculation technique uses the manual method with the help of a petri dish and a 20 ml beaker glass. Observation of eggs using a microscope magnification 40x. The fertilized egg has a transverse line between the nucleus of the egg which is a developing embryo. The unfertilized egg does not have a transverse line which indicates the egg does not have an embryo.

Abstract

Tilapia has several varieties produced from cross-breeding. The results of cross-breeding produce new varieties in tilapia with their respective advantages in terms of survival and growth. But until now there has been no research on survival studies and the growth rate of some of the best Tilapia fish varieties. This study used a completely randomized design, 4 treatments 3 replications. The treatments given were (A) Gift Tilapia, (B) Red Tilapia Fish, (C) Jatimbulan Tilapia Fish and (D) Solid Tilapia Fish. Tilapia seeds maintained in treatment B (red tilapia) gave the highest survival value of 88.87% and the lowest value in treatment A (gift tilapia) and D (stocky tilapia) were 83.33%. In treatment A (Gift Tilapia) gave the highest length growth value of 1.6-1.7 cm and the highest daily weight growth rate of 0.085 gr / day, while in treatment B (Red Tilapia) gave the lowest length growth value of 1.3-1.45 cm and the lowest daily individual weight growth rate of 0.062 gr / day. Water quality parameters such as pH, DO and temperature measured during the maintenance period are in the normal range, so they do not have a significant effect on the growth of tilapia fish. The highest FCR was obtained in treatment B (Red Tilapia) with an average of 0.90 and the lowest FCR was obtained in treatment A (Tilapia Gift) with an average of 0.69.
