Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the representation of objectification of teenage female characters in Sofia Coppola's film, The Virgin Suicides (1999). The study employs feminist theory, focusing on Martha Nussbaum's (1995) classification of objectification and Laura Mulvey's (1975) theory of the male gaze. Mise-en-scène is the primary framework for describing the representation of objectification experienced by the Lisbon princesses. The analysis shows that the film consistently uses mise-en-scène to depict the objectification of the Lisbon princesses as objects for the fulfillment of male desires and fantasies. The study identifies six of the seven forms of objectification defined by Nussbaum, with instrumentality, inertness, and fungibility as the most dominant.

Abstract

Abstract : Land sales and purchases are explained in Article 37 paragraph 1 of Government Regulation No. 24 of 1997 which states that land sales and purchases carried out underhand can be registered if they can be proven with a deed issued by a Land Deed Official (PPAT) or other authorized officials based on applicable laws. Land sales and purchases underhand have been carried out by people in Indonesia because of the ease of the process and the low costs incurred. However, underhand sales and purchases can cause various land problems because there is no sale and purchase deed issued by the PPAT as one of the requirements for registering the transfer of rights. With these conditions, this article aims to examine the legal consequences of underhand land sales and purchases by taking the example of the case : Decision No. 107/Pdt.G/2021/PN Srp using a qualitative method with a case study approach. The results of this study indicate that there are four provisions for the validity of sales and purchases according to the Civil Code. In this case, the underhand land sale and purchase in Decision No. 107/Pdt.G/2021/PN Srp is valid under customary law and according to UUPA, but is not valid according to the Civil Code because it does not meet the requirements for validity, namely 'certain matters', namely that the Plaintiff is unable to pay within the time period written in the sales and purchase agreement.

Abstract

Adlay (Coix lacryma-jobi L.) is a potential source of starch but has not been utilized optimally. Native adlay starch has several weaknesses such as functional properties of low swelling volume and solubility, prone to retrogradation, and low stability. Physical modification of ultrasonication and chemical modification by oxidation using ozone can be an alternative to improve the functional properties of adlay starch through the formation of porous starch. The aim of this research was to produce porous adlay starch by ultrasonication and ozonation. The study consisted of several different treatments on hanjeli starch (ozonation starch, ultrasonication of 15 minutes, ultrasonication of 30 minutes, combined ultrasonication of 15 minutes and 30 minutes with ozonation). The results showed the appearance of pores on the surface of the granules of modified adlay starch with the best results being modified combination of ultrasonication 30 minutes and ozonation, which resulted in a decrease in swelling volume from 18.13 ± 3.98 mL/g to 15.71 ± 0.35 mL/g, an increase in solubility from 6.76 ± 0.62% to 9.59 ± 0.44%, and a decrease in water absorption capacity from 1.25 ± 0.02 g/g to 1.13 ± 0.02 g/ g. Modification of adlay starch by ultrasonication, ozonation, and their combination effectively produced porous starch granules, but did not cause the formation of new functional groups in starch.

Abstract

The high prevalence of stunting and low fiber intake among toddlers in Indonesia led to the development of cookies as a supplementary food to support adequate protein and fiber intake. Therefore, this study aims to determine the optimal cookie formulation based on sorghum, moringa leaf, and bran flours. This study used an experimental method based on response surface methodology (RSM) with a central composite design (CCD). The resulting responses were protein (Y1) and crude fiber (Y2), which were maximized. The optimal formula for cookies was 29.04% sorghum, 2.34% moringa leaf, and 18.74% bran flours. This formulation produces cookies with protein content of 10.01%, crude fiber of 2.36%, moisture of 4.89%, ash of 3.21%, fat of 22.29%, and carbohydrate of 59.61%. The physical characteristics were hardness 4,219.53 g, fracturability 5.62 mm, °hue 84.15, and sensory with an attractive overall appearance. The results indicate that the cookies’ protein and fiber content met the supplementary food requirements of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Indonesia. However, the values were lower than predicted by the optimization, while maintaining favorable physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics.
