Abstract

Background: The data reveal a consistent decrease in the overall immunization coverage for babies in Kota Pariaman over a span of four years. Specifically, the coverage rates were recorded as 81.8% in 2018, 78.6% in 2019, 55.7% in 2020, and 66.7% in 2021. Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the factors that contribute to the decrease in the achievement of complete basic immunization among children in Kota Pariaman. Methods: The present study used the quantitative research method with a cross-sectional design. The study sample comprised of mothers with infants aged 12 months residing in Pariaman City. A purposive sampling method was employed to choose a total of 154 participants. The research was carried out between March 2022 and October 2022. Univariate analysis describes variable frequency, bivariate examines relationships using chi-square (p<0.05) and multivariate employs logistic regression, identifying influential variables. Results: Key findings include a lack of knowledge (40.3%), non-supportive attitudes of mothers (56.5%), mistrust by mothers (42.9%), limited access to health resources (52.6%), and inadequate family support (48.1%). There was significant support from healthcare workers (94.2%) and moderate backing from community leaders (56.5%). Significantly, a noteworthy association was observed between knowledge (p < 0.05), attitudes (p < 0.05), and family support (p < 0.05), and the successful attainment of fundamental vaccinations. Conclusions: Factors leading to the decreased rate of complete basic immunization for infants in Kota Pariaman include attitude, family support, and knowledge. As a remedy, local governments and health workers are urged to proactively provide health education on the significance of full basic immunization for infants. This preventive measure is paramount in safeguarding against severe acute illnesses, benefiting both the child and the broader community

Abstract

Hospital is a stressful experience for both children and their families. The main stressors could be in the form of separation from family, loss of control, bodily injury, and pain. In clinical practice, nursing assessments in identifying anxiety in children and parents were often challenging. Nurses tended to focus on the physical problem of children than on physicological respond. This research aimed to test the validity and reliability of parents' perception scale about hospitalization anxiety of children aged 1-6 years. The research used a descriptive-analytic research design with a cross-sectional study approach. The sample in this research were 34 parents taken by accidental sampling technique. The sample criteria were children undergoing hospitalization aged 1-6 years and being treated for more than one day. Data were collected using a questionnaire for parents' perceptions about the anxiety of hospitalization for children aged 1-6 years. This questionnaire consisted of 18 items ranging from never to often. The researcher used the Cronbach alpha test and Pearson product-moment to analyze the data. The results showed that 15 items were valid and reliable (r> 0.339) and Cronbach's Alpha value = 0.885). We could conclude that the scale was valid and reliable in measuring parents' perceptions about the anxiety of hospitalization for children aged 1-6 years. Further research was needed to test the effectiveness of this scale in a practical setting. Keywords: Children, hospitalization anxiety, reability and validity

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls is very dangerous for both the short and long term. If it happens in the long term, after becoming a mother it will be detrimental to the baby in the future. Babies of anemic mothers will tend to give birth to premature babies later in the productive period of the teenager. Babies born to anemic adolescents are very at risk for malnutrition, then stunting. The purpose of this health education is to prevent anemia in adolescent girls as the primary prevention of stunting in toddlers. The implementation of this activity is carried out through 4 stages: situation analysis, preparation of needs for implementation of activities and evaluation of activities. The health education activities on anemia prevention were attended by 50 young women with pale conjunctiva criteria and often felt dizzy. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. The results of this activity in general can increase the knowledge of young women about anemia by 76%. Good knowledge before the activity was only 20%, after the activity increased to 96%. While the knowledge that is lacking before the activity is 80%, after the activity it is only 4%. Health education given to young women can increase knowledge in young women. It is hoped that young women can always eat balanced meals and blood-boosting tablets and disseminate this information to other young women. To the local health center to provide education on a regular basis every time they carry out youth posyandu activities.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transition period from childhood to adulthood, where in adolescent girls it is marked by menstruation, breast enlargement, hips, and so on. As a result of these changes, adolescent girls are at risk of experiencing nutritional deficiencies in their bodies which can lead to anemia. Anemia is a condition where there is a lack of hemoglobin levels in the body, the impact of which will be seen now and in the future. Dysmenorrhea is also the most common disorder experienced by women, especially adolescents, during the menstrual cycle. Dysmenorrhea can have an impact on daily activities, but many adolescent girls still do not know the factors related to the occurrence of primary dysmenorrhea, so health education is needed. The purpose of this activity was to provide health education about the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in adolescent girls and to conduct Hb level checks. This community service activity was carried out by providing education with slides and videos related to the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia in 100 female students at SMP N 31 Padang. Adolescents will complete a knowledge and attitude questionnaire regarding anemia and primary dysmenorrhea before and after the intervention. The results of this activity showed an increase in knowledge and attitudes of adolescent girls regarding the risk factors for primary dysmenorrhea and anemia. The results of Hb examinations in adolescent girls found that 6% of adolescent girls had anemia. It is hoped that this health education can be carried out periodically so that young women can have the right knowledge and a positive attitude in dealing with problems such as dysmenorrhea or anemia.

Abstract

Stunting masih menjadi tantangan besar bagi Indonesia. Angka balita stunting di Indonesia tahun 2021 sebanyak 24,4% (SSGI, 2022), sementara WHO menetapkan angka prevalensi stunting hanya 20% (Direktorat P2PTM Kemenkes RI, 2018).
