Abstract

Butterflies are well-established bio-indicators for assessing biodiversity and monitoring ecosystem responses to environmental disturbances. Understanding their habitat preferences can help identify critical areas that require conservation to sustain their populations. This study aimed to determine butterfly habitat preferences across six land-use types in Lore Lindu National Park (natural forest habitats: primary forest, secondary forest, agroforestry, and river streams) and the Lindu and Besoa Enclave areas (anthropogenic systems: cocoa plantations and settlements). Butterflies were collected using insect nets with sweep netting techniques along transect lines in each habitat. Each habitat was divided into three 200-meter-long transects, sampled using purposive sampling. Butterfly habitat preferences in natural and anthropogenic habitats were evaluated by comparing the number of individuals and species, the percentage of families, and species composition across habitats. 1,786 individuals from 85 species across five butterfly families were recorded in Lore Lindu National Park and the surrounding enclave areas. The highest number of individuals and species was found in agroforestry habitats (527 individuals, 46 species). In contrast, primary forests had the lowest number of species (14 species), and river streams had the fewest individuals (76 individuals). The highest diversity index was found in agroforestry habitats (H' = 3.33, E = 0.75), while the lowest was in primary forests (H' = 2.27, E = 0.51). The Nymphalidae family had the highest percentage of species and individuals, distributed across all habitats. Species composition similarity among butterfly habitats grouped them into three categories: primary forest‒river stream, cocoa plantation‒settlement, and secondary forest‒agroforestry. Natural habitats (primary forests, secondary forests, agroforestry, and areas around river streams) supported a higher number of species compared to anthropogenic systems like cocoa plantations and settlements. Therefore, natural habitats are crucial for supporting butterfly populations in Lore Lindu National Park and its surrounding areas.

Abstract

Large body of researches has been consistently linked L2 motivation to L2WTC, indicating a significant positive correlation between the two. Yet, the influence of teacher-student relationships on this correlation remains understudied. This research investigates how teacher-student relationships influences the correlation between L2 motivation and L2WTC, as well as to investigate the variations in this influence across varying qualities of teacher-student relationships. Utilizing established scales, questionnaires were distributed to the entire population of SMP Negeri 51 Surabaya, resulting in 222 responses for analysis. Moderation analysis via regression analysis was employed to analyse the data. The findings showed that teacher-student relationships do not significantly moderate the correlation between students' L2 motivation and their L2WTC, nor do they significantly differ in influence across varying qualities. Although statistical significance was not achieved at the conventional threshold, the study hints the potential significance of teacher-student relationships in sustaining L2WTC, particularly in contexts where L2 motivation may be lacking. Thus, while not meeting statistical significance at conventional thresholds, the results underscore the importance of fostering positive teacher-student relationships in language learning contexts.

Abstract

This study compares DANA and OVO users in West Kalimantan to investigate the factors affecting e-wallet adoption. To ascertain the impact of compatibility, ubiquity, and social influence on behavioral intention with trust and satisfaction as intervening variables. Data was gathered from 300 respondents using a quantitative comparison approach and analyzed using PLS-SEM. The findings demonstrated that compatibility significantly affects trust and satisfaction, particularly for DANA users, raising their behavioral intention. On the other hand, there was no discernible variation in the impact of ubiquity on satisfaction. Furthermore, social influence had a different effect on trust in the two user groups, with DANA users being more affected. These findings emphasize compatibility and trust in promoting e-wallets, although ubiquity and social influence still need more study.

Abstract

Background: Schistosomiasis is endemic in Central Sulawesi, namely in Lindu, Bada, and Napu Valley. In the Napu Valley, schistosomiasis not only attacks humans but also mammals such as cattle and buffalo. Purpose: The aim of this research was to determine the prevalence of schistosomiasis in cattle (Bos sp) and buffalo (Bubalus sp.) in extensive livestock systems in the Napu Valley, Central Sulawesi. Methods: Sampling of cow and buffalo feces. Next, a stool examination was carried out to see the type of worm eggs microscopically using the Kato-Katz method at the Schistosomiasis Laboratory of the North Lore Health Service, Poso Regency. The number of samples used was 10 each, consisting of female cows, male cows, female calf cows, and male calf cows, as well as female buffaloes, male buffaloes, female calf buffaloes, and male calf buffaloes. Results: The research results found more than 1 species of worm eggs that infect cattle and buffalo, namely Schistosoma japonicum, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura, and hookworm. The prevalence of schistosomiasis is higher in cows compared to buffalo; this is because cows have more attack power with more pores, so cows are more easily infected by parasites. Apart from that, cows also roam further in search of food than buffalo. When it rains, most buffalo just lie in a wallow. Unlike cows, even though it rains, cows still walk to look for food. Conclusion: The conclusion is that the prevalence of schistosomiasis is more common in cattle, namely 11 positive cases, and in buffalo there are only 2 positive cases.
