Abstract

In designing material requirements, it is very important to do so that the use of materials becomes effective and efficient. Building materials are an important component in producing a reliable quality building structure. One of the efforts made to ensure the quality of building materials is to carry out material tests in the laboratory. The Palembang Aviation Polytechnic materials laboratory performs the testing procedure manually using a calculator or Microsoft Excel. Manual test calculations pose potential problems (error calculation) and must be well-documented. A materials testing calculation application is made for data processing to get better results and more efficient and effective calculations. The research aims to optimize the data processing of building materials testing using an application so that it is more efficient and effective and the data can be well documented. The material was used to calculate fine aggregate and coarse aggregate tests. The research has implemented a web-based Smart Material Test application using the programming language PHP Version 7, Laravel 8 Framework, and MySQL Database to optimize material testing that is more accurate and well-documented. The results show of testing the application, as many as 50 trials for each test found no application errors, and the average calculation difference was 0.0005 or 0.01744%. Thus, the application is very useful in assisting the calculation of building material testing.

Abstract

ICAO document 9859 mandates that six stakeholders in its member countries are required to implement a Safety Management System (SMS). The support of all personnel in the organization's efforts to achieve aviation safety must be supported by safety management training. The implementation of online SMS training provides a pedagogical challenge for the instructor, so, methods are needed to stimulate the 4Cs: critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. These challenges must be faced, one of which is using a simulator media that has pedagogical advantages that not only help teachers but are also expected to provide a more realistic learning experience. This research has succeeded in implementing a web-based Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) application product that is integrated with safety reporting and can be accessed by all students. The product presents tables and graphs that are used as evidence of formal processes in safety documentation and safety monitoring activities with real conditions in the field. This product also has a General Risk Assessment Process simulation feature that can be used for risk mapping activities for training participants as well as standardized presentation materials. The results of the user experience test show a positive response with an average value above 0.8, representing an application's pragmatic and hedonic aspects.

Abstract

Firefighting Robotic technology has been used for a long time to achieve aviation safety and security goals. The research is deemed necessary because of some related issues: 1) A pressing need for lecturers and students to have access to learning media; 2) A lack of practical media that are pertinent to industries needs; and 3) Practical learning of Firefighting Robotics necessitates learning media that are by the needs of cadets. This research aims to create an innovative learning media for a firefighting robot course based on the Internet of Things (IoT) with a Proportional-Integrative-Derivative (PID) control system using a multisensor according to learning outcomes. The research method used the Plomp Model with initial data collection techniques using literature study and observations of Firefighting Robot designs and course outcomes. The research results are an automatic fire extinguishing Firefighting Robot that works in a labyrinth with a web-based main control system as a server connected to the client, namely the Firefighting Robot and fire alarm. The PID control system test result is Kp = 100, Kd = 100, and Ki = 10, which makes it stable in maneuvering the labyrinth. Validation results from material and media experts were conducted, and the learning media application successfully carried out system instructions. The material experts resulted in a quality aspect of the material content score of 4.8 with the category "Very Good". As a prototype, the researchers hope the firefighting robot concept can be developed on a large scale to support firefighting activities in real field situations in further research.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop an innovative learning tool, AIRLIT, as an alternative practical system to enhance the learning of Airfield Lighting System (ALS) among Diploma IV Airport Engineering Technology (DIV-TRBU) cadets. The motivation behind this research stemmed from the necessity to address the challenges faced in ALS practical learning due to limited access to airport facilities. The research methodology is Waterfall Model, encompassing phases: analysis, design, implementation, system testing, and maintenance. User needs were thoroughly analyzed, particularly those of DIV-TRBU cadets, through observations and interviews with subject matter experts. The resulting AIRLIT application offers immersive simulations of ALS operations, including AR recognition of lighting tools/materials and VR visualization of airport layouts. This research succeeded in developing the AIRLIT application, and system testing revealed positive outcomes,  with the significant value for pair 1 is 0.000 < 0.05, so there is a difference in the average learning outcomes of cadets for the experimental class pre-test and the experimental class post-test. The significant value of pair 2 is 0.000 < 0.05, so there is a difference in the average learning outcomes of cadets for the control class pre-test and the control class post-test. The Independent sample test shows a difference in cadet learning outcomes between the learning model using AIRLIT and the conventional model, and this result indicates the effectiveness of AIRLIT in improving cadets' learning experiences and outcomes. Overall, this research underscores the significance of incorporating innovative technologies into educational practices, paving the way for enhanced learning experiences and outcomes in airport engineering training programs. The theoretical implication of this study lies in its contribution to integrating AR technology into educational settings, enhancing engagement and experiential learning. Practically, AIRLIT provides a valuable tool for ALS learning, addressing the limitations of traditional practical training methods.

Abstract

Infrastructures are increasing as the population grows. The demand for building materials from the construction industry is also improving. Building materials like fine aggregates come from nature, such as sand. This research aims to partially replace natural fine aggregates in concrete mixes using plastic waste combustion residues. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The test specimens used in this study were 24 pieces with a replacement percentage of 0, 5, 10, and 20% residue. The results of this study show that the average concrete strength for replacement of 0, 5, 10, and 20% is 23.77; 23.15; 19.47; 17.77 Mpa. At 5% replacement of fine aggregate, the percentage of concrete strength reached 97.4% of normal concretes. It can be concluded that concrete strength affects the partial replacement of fine aggregates with residues from the combustion of plastic and textile waste.
