Abstract

Low birthweight babies are babies with a birth weight of 1,500 grams to less than 2,500 grams. Low birthweight babies are the cause of increase in babies’ mortality (death) and morbidity (pain). One of the primary risk factors of low birthweight babies is poor pregnant mother’s nutrition. Iron can provide a reserve or storage of nutrition that is very much needed by pregnant mothers to prevent anemia and maintain optimal growth of fetuses. The occurrence of low birthweight babies in Aceh Barat Regency is still very high. The design of this research was observational with an intervention of providing iron for 90 days to pregnant mothers and nutritional guidance for pregnant mothers in the effort of reducing the prevalence of low birthweight babies. The research was done in 10 villages from 3 rural sub-districts that contribute to high rates of low birthweight babies in Aceh Barat Regency, with 146 pregnant mothers. The results of the research showed that the application of the informal guidance strategy in a non-formal setting accompanied with discussions among family members and guidance targets resulted in 69.2% of guidance targets becoming motivated to consume Fe tablets and maintain eating patterns, while guidance targets that have been motivated yet did not consume Fe tablets and maintain eating patterns gave low income of guidance and Fe tablets were observed for 3 months; the result was 13 mothers (86.7%) gave birth to babies of normal weight and 2 mothers (13,3%) gave birth to underweight babies. The application of the guidance strategy in the effort to reduce the occurrence of low birthweight babies, from the results of this research, requires commitment from the Department of Health to provide suitable funds, facilities, and infrastructure to provide services to pregnant mothers, and commitment of all health officials in particular village nurses and health cadres, as well as involving the husband in the role to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Abstract

Anemia in Pregnant Women is a health problem during pregnancy. Where the state of decreased hemoglobin levels and the number of red blood cells below normal values. Increased need for iron nearly tripled for the needs of mothers and fetuses during pregnancy, anemia in pregnant women has an impact on morbidity and maternal death, the risk of low birth weight, premature birth. Anemia can also be avoided by consuming foods that often contain animal protein and vegetable protein. Iron (Fe) intake, knowledge, and family support have an important role in the incidence of anemia in pregnancy. This type of research is a cross sectional survey. The study was conducted in Johan Pahlawan Sub-district, West Aceh District. The population is all pregnant women trimester II and III of 54 pregnant women. Taking in total sampling, data analysis used Univariate analysis and Bivariate (Chi-Square test). The results of the study obtained a relationship between the knowledge factor with the P-value = 0.001 and the Family Support factor with a P-value = 0.004 with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women. Expected mothers are expected to know the importance of consuming iron (Fe) intake, extensive knowledge about the dangers of anemia during pregnancy and the importance of family support for pregnant women to avoid anemia.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a disease with changes in the shape and concentration of feces, which softens until melted, and increases the frequency of bowel movements more than normal (3 times or more a day). Data from Tanoh Manyang Village in 2014 showed the proportion of diar-rhea in infants was 12% of 144 children, in 2015 26% of 156 children, in 2016 as many as 40% of 343 children. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of maternal culture on the incidence of infectious diseases (diarrhea) in infants. The population in this study 138, with sampling using total sampilng. This type of analytic survey research with cross sectional approach, data analysis using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Chi-square test results showed that mothers 'knowledge and attitudes as well as clean and healthy life behaviors of mothers affected the incidence of diarrhea in infants (p <0.05), while the results of multivariate logistic regression tests showed that mothers' clean and healthy life behavior had a stronger influence on incidence of diarrhea in toddlers with Exp (B) value of 38, 201. Conclusions from the results of multivariate regression tests the mother's clean and healthy behavior has a strong influence on the incidence of diarrhea in infants. It is suggested that related agencies can increase health promotion in the form of counseling to the community so as to increase knowledge of clean and healthy living behavior in preventing infectious diseases, especially the incidence of diarrhea in infants.

Abstract

The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the world economy, including in the food and agricultural sectors. A 1% decline in China's economic growth in 2020 could have an impact of around 0.3% on the economy in Indonesia, and Aceh is no exception. Therefore, the creative economy stimulus is one of the most appropriate alternatives in overcoming the community's economic problems, by utilizing local commodities through innovation of tempeh powder broth as family food security in Purwodadi Village, Nagan Raya Regency. The purpose of this activity is to provide the importance of creative economic education for coastal communities, especially for poor families towards family food security during the COVID 19 pandemic. The method in this activity uses the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) approach and the PALS (Participatory Action Learning System) method. FGD is a process involving participants (local government, MSME actors and the community) where they exchange messages in a dialogical manner within the framework of a common understanding of the social situation. The results obtained in this activity are the existence of a local business development model based on tempeh innovation that can foster a spirit of independence to form Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in coastal communities towards family food security during the COVID-19 pandemic.
