Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was aimed to study the role of local innovator in communication activities of micro-hydro innovation adoption. Data was collected by using questionnaires in census principle to 99 household heads of the innovation adopter. The result showed that majority of the microhydro electricity adopters in Kedungrong, Blumbang, and Jarakan Villages were observing first the positive development before they finally adopted it. Majority of them adopted micro-hydro electricity at first 3 years since the local micro-hydro installations were built completely in their respective villages. Few other adopter family heads then followed adopting micro-hydro electricity at 4-6 years since the local micro-hydro installations were built completely in their respective villages. Eventually fewer other adopter family heads then followed adopting micro-hydro electricity at 7-10 years since the local micro-hydro installations were built completely in their respective villages. Majority of the respondents only used cellphone as communication channel with WhatsApp application in it to communicate between one and another.

Abstract

Waste management in South Tangerang City faces serious pressure due to limited landfill capacity and low community participation in waste sorting. The waste bank program implemented by the Environmental Agency in partnership with the PERBAS Waste Bank in Kedaung Village is one strategy to reduce waste going to the landfill while empowering the community. This study aims to analyze how leadership communication practices at the institutional and community levels shift residents from passive recipients of socialization to active participants in waste management. A qualitative approach with case studies was used through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document review. Data were analyzed using the stages of reduction, display, and conclusion. The results show that leadership communication combines the framing of the landfill crisis, narratives of economic and environmental benefits, role models, intensive interpersonal communication, and the innovation of thematic savings schemes close to household needs. These practices form a transformation stage from informative socialization, participatory socialization, collective participation, to co-creation and social entrepreneurship. These findings confirm that the success and sustainability of waste bank programs are determined not only by technical and regulatory aspects, but also by the design of dialogic, adaptive, and multi-layered leadership communication between institutional and community leaders.

Abstract

Komunikasi kolaboratif merupakan pendekatan dalam mencapai keberlanjutan bisnis melalui peningkatan kompetensi kolaboratif pelaku Usaha Mikro Kecil (UMK). Pelaku UMK merupakan bagian dari komunitas lokal di wilayah Geopark yang memiliki prinsip melestarikan alam dan mensejahterakan warga. Pelaku UMK memiliki peran strategis dalam pengelolaan Geoproduct, yaitu komoditas yang memiliki keunikan dan keunggulan di wilayah Geopark. Geopark Nasional Pongkor terletak di Kabupaten Bogor dan ditetapkan dengan tujuan untuk konservasi edukasi dan pengembangan ekonomi. Keberlanjutan bisnis UMK dapat tercapai dengan adanya dukungan pemangku kepentingan peningkatan, kompetensi digital, geoliterasi, dan kompetensi kolaborasi.

Abstract

Background: Citizen journalism is an alternative form of media that voices marginalized issues in society. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are studied as a representation of regional development, supported by news-value elements in citizen-journalism reporting on Instagram. Purpose: This research analyzed the trend of citizen journalism reporting that represents SDGs by measuring frequency based on topic and news value. Methods: This study used quantitative content analysis. The citizen journalism Instagram accounts studied were @hay.kalimantan and @seputarbanjarbaru. The data collection period spanned five months, namely December 2025 and January through April 2026. The five months were selected because they present the diversity of current events related to development issues, such as social, economic, and legal matters, as well as adequate housing and so on. The selected news samples must be posts by ordinary citizens (not institutions). A total of 455 news posts meeting the criteria were selected as samples. Data collection techniques included documentation and literature review. Results: The highest frequency of citizen journalism news on SDGs was SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) at 40%; non-SDGs at 32.5%; and SDG 3 (healthy and prosperous life) at 9.9%. Meanwhile, the news values were dominated by bad news at 50.1%. Meanwhile, the news values were dominated by bad news at 50.1%. Conclusion: Citizen journalism news on the Instagram accounts @hay.kalimantan and @seputarbanjarbaru is dominated by SDG 11 with a news value of bad news. Implications: Mapping citizen journalism reporting on both Instagram accounts shows that citizens are actively voicing SDG 11 in the form of information about residential fires, month-long flooding, fallen trees, and road accidents. Instagram has become a channel for democratic public participation in the digital space, as anyone can become a journalist producing news.

Abstract

Majority fish processing business in Indonesia is carried out by households of a micro-small scale using traditional methods. This research is aimed to measure the level of wellbeing of the fish processing household using objective and subjective indicators. The research approach is carried out with a census in selected locations using questionnaires as a means of data collection. Indicator of wellbeing from the Statistics Bureau (BPS) is used to measue the level of objective wellbeing, while subjective wellbeing is measured from the fish processors’ own perspective concerning their satisfaction on their living condition. The number of research samples was 75 fish processors in two districts namely Pagelaran District and Pringsewu District, in Pringsewu Regency, one of fish processing centers in Lampung Province. Data were collected from March to April 2018. Then the data were analyzed descriptively using Excell and Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) ver 24. The results showed that  the level of wellbeing of the fish processing households was high, when it was measured using an objective indicator. However, when the objective indicator was asked subjectively to a respondent, it showed a low level, such as satisfaction on the house condition, finance, and asset ownership. Although the economic aspect showed unsatisfactory, the social living condition and psychological mental of the fish processors showed satisfactory. This shows that wellbeing condition cannot be measured only by economic objective aspects, but also by subjective condition of the community, including social and mental condition.
