Abstract

Escerichia coli is a type of bacteria that normally grows in the caecum of broilers and has the potential to become a pathogen that causes disease in broilers. This study aims to determine the effect of adding fermented sendunia leaf extract (EFDS) to drinking water on the population of Escherichia coli bacteria in the caecum of broilers. EFDS is obtained from the fermentation of fresh sendua leaves in a mixture of 1 kg of sendunia leaves + 1 l of EM4 + 16 l of sterile distilled water in a jerry can which is incubated for 2 weeks at room temperature. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments adding EFDS to drinking water at levels: A = 0% (control), B = 2%, C = 4%, and D = 6% with 5 replications. Lohman type broilers were kept for 5 weeks in cages measuring 60 x 100 cm containing 5 broilers for one treatment unit. The ration used contains 22% crude protein and 3000 Kcal/kg energy. The results of parameter measurements at the end of maintenance showed that the treatment with the addition of EFDS at levels of 4 and 6% showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone for Escherichia coli bacteria was classified as moderate level, namely 5.1-5.3 mm. A population decrease (P<0.05) was found at the EFDS level of 4% in drinking water with a population of 0.86 x106 CFU/ml with a decrease of 63.25% compared to the control. The addition of EFDS had no significant effect (P>0.05) on cecum pH and cecum length, but there was a tendency for pH to decrease (6.4-5.7) according to the level of EFDS addition. The addition of 4% EFDS in broiler drinking water is recommended in this study to control the Escherichia coli population in the broiler caecum.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh penambahan eco enzyme berbasis bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia Merr) terhadap organ fisiologis dan karkas broiler. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan. Broiler umur 1 hari sampai umur 35 hari terdiri dari 100 ekor. Setiap pengujian terdiri dari 20 ekor. Perlakuan adalah : A0= tanpa penambahan eco enzyme bawang Dayak, A1= penambahan 1% eco enzyme bawang Dayak, A2= penambahan 1,5% eco enzyme bawang Dayak, A3= penambahan 2% eco enzyme bawang Dayak, A4= penambahan 2,5% eco enzyme bawang Dayak. Variabel yang diamati yaitu organ fisiologis dan karkas. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa penambahan eco enzyme berbasis bawang Dayak tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase organ fisiologis dan karkas broiler. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penambahan eco enzyme berbasis bawang Dayak dengan level yang berbeda tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap organ fisiologis dan karkas broiler.   Kata kunci: Bawang Dayak, Broiler, Eco enzyme, Organ fisiologis, Karkas

Abstract

The purpose of this study was  to determine the effect of adding miana (Coleus atropurpureus, L) leaf fermented drink on performance, carcass and chicken liver.  Broiler DOC without sexual segregation totaled 196 tails.  The design used was a completely randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and three replications.  Each test consisted of  16 tails. The treatments were: A0 = without fermented miana leaves, A1 = 4 ml fermented miana leaves /l drinking water, A2 = 8 ml fermented miana leaves/ l drinking water, A4 = 12 ml fermented miana leaves /l drinking water.  The parameters observed were performance, percentage of carcass and chicken liver.  The result showed that was no effect (P>0,05) of the addition of miana leaf fermentation on the performance, percentage of carcass and chicken liver. Offering 8 ml fermented miana leaves/liter provides better performance.

Abstract

Pemakaian antibiotik komersial yang digunakan secara terus menerus akan mengakibatkan adanya residu antibiotik pada daging broiler. Hal ini akan memberikan efek samping terhadap konsumen yang mengonsumsinya. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan alternatif pengganti antibiotik komersial. Enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen adalah salah satu alternatif yang berasal dari tanaman herbal dan metode terbaru yaitu enkapsulasi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah  penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen berdampak positif terhadap organ limfoid dan berapa dosis yang dapat diterima broiler. Materi penelitian adalah DOC broiler sebanyak 100 ekor unsexing. Menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap, 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan. Perlakuan adalah T0 = 0% (tanpa penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen), T1 = Penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen 0,5% dalam air minum, T2 = penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen 1% dalam air minum, T3 = Penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen 1,5% dalam air minum, dan T4 = pemberian amoxitin 0,05% dalam air minum. Variabel yang diamati yakni persentase bobot relatif timus, bursa fabricius dan limpa. Hasil akhir yang diperoleh dari penambahan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap persentase semua organ limfoid broiler (timus, bursa fabricius, dan limpa) yang menandakan pemberiannya tidak berdampak negatif dan broiler dapat menerima asupan enkapsulasi ekstrak daun kersen hingga dosis 1,5%.   Kata kunci: Timus, Bursa fabricius, Limpa

Abstract

This study evaluated the effect of incorporating stingless bee honey (Trigona spp.) into butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) kombucha in drinking water on cholesterol levels, abdominal fat, and carcass yield in broilers. A completely randomized design with five treatments (T0: control; T1-T4: kombucha with 2%, 3%, 4%, and 5% stingless bee honey) and four replicates were used. Treatments were administered through drinking water for two weeks. Results showed that honey-enriched kombucha significantly reduced cholesterol levels, with the best result observed in T4 (95±4.63 mg/100 g). Abdominal fat decreased and carcass percentage increased, although not statistically significant. These findings suggest that stingless bee honey-enriched kombucha has potential as a natural feed additive to produce healthier broiler meat, likely mediated through enhanced antioxidant activity and inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase.

Abstract

Background: Rayakemo probiotics (tape yeast, yakult, old coconut water and molasses) contain beneficial microorganisms such as Lactobacillus casei and Saccharomyces which can provide health benefits to the host. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of adding Rayakemo probiotics to drinking water on the weight percentage of the spleen, liver, heart, small intestine and length of the small intestine of KUB chickens. Method: This research was carried out for two months, from March to May, in the Payakumbuh State Agricultural Polytechnic chicken coop. A total of 100 KUB chickens were used without separating gender and randomly divided into 20 experimental units, with each unit consisting of 5 KUB chickens. The chickens were kept for 8 weeks and data was collected in the 8th week at harvest. The method used in this research was the RAL method (Completely Randomized Design) with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each treatment is: A: drinking water without Rayakemo probiotics, B: 3% Rayakemo probiotics + drinking water, C: 6% Rayakemo probiotics + drinking water and D: 9% Rayakemo probiotics + drinking water. Results: The results showed that the addition of Rayakemo probiotics to drinking water on the weight percentage of spleen, liver, heart, small intestine and small intestine length of KUB chickens had no significant effect (P>0.05). Conclusion: The addition of Rayakemo probiotics in drinking water did not significantly affect the spleen, liver, heart, small intestine weight and small intestine length. The addition of Rayakemo probiotics in drinking water up to 9% can be tolerated by broilers against the spleen, liver, heart, small intestine weight and small intestine length.

Abstract

Background: Common farmers use feed additives such as acidifiers, phytobiotics, and probiotics to replace antibiotics. African leaves are   traditional plants that can be used as a  commercial substitute for feed additives. Purpose: This study aims to determine the impact of adding African leaf encapsulation and the best dose of African leaves in drinking water on the percentage of abdomen fat, carcass, and lymphoid organs of broilers. Methods. The study was conducted experimentally using RAL (Completely Randomized Design) which included 5 replications and 4 treatments, all treatment units consisted of 5 chicks. The treatments was the addition of African leaf extract  encapsulation in drinking water, namely without encapsulation of African leaf extract (EEDA)(A), 0.5% EEDA (B), 1% EEDA (C), and 1.5% EEDA (D). The research parameters included carcass percentage, abdomen fat percentage, thymus, Bursa fabricius, and  broiler thyroid. Results: The resut of the study showed that the addition of african leaf extract encapsulation in drinking water had no significant effect (P>0,05) on the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs. Conclusion: Based on the research result, it can be concluded that the addition of african leaf extract encapsulation in drinking water as a feed additive does not effecet (P>0,05) the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs of broilers. The addition of EEDA in drinking water can be reduced to 1,5% on the percentage of carcass, abdomen fat, and lymphoid organs of broilers.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbedaan berat telur terhadap bobot tetas, susut tetas, daya tetas, dan mortalitas embrio pada telur ayam kampung (Gallus domesticus). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Produksi Ternak Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh selama 3 bulan. Penelitian menggunakan RAL dengan lima perlakuan berdasarkan kelompok berat telur dan empat ulangan. Parameter yang diamati meliputi bobot tetas, susut tetas, daya tetas, dan mortalitas embrio. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa variasi berat telur memiliki pengaruh yang sangat signifikan (P < 0,01) terhadap bobot tetas, di mana telur dengan bobot lebih besar menghasilkan bobot tetas yang lebih tinggi. Namun demikian, berat telur tidak memberikan pengaruh signifikan terhadap susut tetas, daya tetas, maupun mortalitas embrio. Perlakuan terbaik dicapai pada kelompok telur dengan berat lebih dari 50 gram, yang menghasilkan bobot tetas tertinggi sebesar 44,02 gram. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya seleksi bobot telur sebelum proses penetasan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas hasil penetasan.   Kata kunci: ayam kampung, bobot tetas, daya tetas, mesin tetas, berat telur

Abstract

Pemanfaatan bahan pakan lokal sebagai feed additive alami menjadi salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan performa broiler secara ekonomis dan berkelanjutan. Daun ara sungsang (Asystasia gangetica L.) diketahui mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid dan antioksidan yang berpotensi mendukung pertumbuhan ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan tepung daun ara sungsang (Asystasia gangetica L.) dalam ransum terhadap performa broiler serta menentukan level penggunaan yang tepat. Penelitian dilaksanakan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan, masing-masing ulangan terdiri atas lima ekor broiler serta total 100 ekor. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah A0 (ransum basal/kontrol), A1 (ransum basal + 1% tepung daun ara sungsang), A2 (1,5%), A3 (2%), dan A4 (2,5%). Variabel yang diamati meliputi pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi pakan, dan efisiensi pakan. Data dianalisis menggunakan analisis varians, dan apabila terdapat perbedaan nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan tepung daun ara sungsang hingga level 2,5% tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi pakan, dan efisiensi pakan broiler. Namun secara angka, pertambahan berat badan tertinggi cenderung diperoleh pada level 1%. Disimpulkan bahwa tepung daun ara sungsang dapat digunakan hingga 2,5% dalam ransum tanpa menurunkan performa broiler, dengan level 1% menunjukkan kecenderungan terbaik.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penambahan eco-enzyme yang berbasis lidah buaya ke dalam air minum mempengaruhi kinerja broiler. Faktor-faktor ini termasuk konsumsi air, konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, dan rasio konversi pakan (FCR). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan dan empat ulangan. P0 menunjukkan kontrol (tanpa menambah eco enzyme lidah buaya ke dalam air minum); P1 menunjukkan penambahan 1% eco enzyme lidah buaya ke dalam liter air minum; P2 menunjukkan penambahan 2% eco enzyme lidah buaya ke dalam liter air minum; dan P4 menunjukkan penambahan 4% eco enzyme lidah buaya ke dalam liter air minum. Performa broiler termasuk konsumsi pakan, pertambahan berat badan, konsumsi air, dan rasio konversi pakan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) dari penambahan eco enzyme berbasis lidah buaya ke dalam air minum broiler terhadap konsumsi ransum, pertambahan bobot badan (PBB), konsumsi air minum, dan nilai konversi ransum.   Kata kunci: eco enzyme, lidah buaya, performa broiler
