Abstract

Purplecabbage(BrassicaoleraceaeL.)isoneoftheagriculturalproductsinIndonesiawhoseexistenceisstartingtobequitewellknownbythepublic.Purple cabbage contains secondary metabolites that are thought to have antioxidant activity, the name is flavonoids and phenolics. This study aims toexamine the effect of the drying process of purple cabbage extract on total phenolic and flavonoid using 3 drying methods, wind drying, light bulb andoven.Thetestresultsshowedthatthemethanolextractofpurplecabbageonwinddryinghadthehighesttotalphenolicandflavonoidcontentobtainedin the methanol extract of the wind drying method, then the methanol extract of oven drying and drying using a light bulb. Of the 3 methods of dryingpurplecabbagemethanolextract,itdidnothavea significanteffect (p>0.05)on thetotalphenolicand flavonoidcontent.

Abstract

Pegagan air (Hydrocotyle vulgaris L.) is one of the plants used as medicine, one of the contents of pegagan air (Hydrocotyle vulgaris L.) is asiaticoida. Asiaticosides are known having antioxidant and neuroprotective activities. This research aims at finding out the effect of immersion time before sonication of pegagan air (Hydrocotyle vulgaris L.) toward the leaf extract on asiaticoside levels. Extractions parameters used are immersion time and sonication time. The asiaticoside level was analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography by column C-18, the mobile phase of methanol : water (70:30), flow rate of 1 ml/min and detected at wavelength 206 nm. Calibration curves were made by using a series of concentrations of 2-14 ppm with a regression equation y = 11656x + 142673. Optimum asiaticoside levels in pegagan air (Hydrocotyle vulgaris L.) leaf extract were obtained at the time of immersion for two hours with sonication time for 15 minutes. The asiaticoside level obtained in the extract of pegagan air (Hydrocotyle vulgaris L.) leaf was 0,1699 mg/10 mg extract with a percentage of 1.6842%.Keywords: Pegagan air, Asiaticoside, Immersion, Sonication, HPLC.

Abstract

Sekunyit (Fibraurea tinctoria Lour) is plant species that has been using widely as traditional medicine such as a cure for diarrhea. This study was conducted to determine the antibacterial activity of extract and fractions of its root and stem against bacteria that cause diarrhea. The sample of root and stem were macerated with ethanol and then followed by ultrasonication process for 30 minutes. Fractionation process was performed by acid-base method using three different solvents which were n-hexane, chloroform and n-butanol. The extract and fractions were tested for its antibacterial activity using agar diffusion method at tested concentrations of 30; 15; 7.5; 3.75 and 1.88%. The result showed that the ethanol extract, n-hexane, chloroform A and chloroform B fractions of the root and stem provided antibacterial activity against all tested bacteria with weak to medium activity. Whereas the n-butanol fraction did not give any activity, either to Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus as well as Vibrio cholerae.

Abstract

Rice bran extract contains high antioxidant compounds. Formulation and antioxidant activity testing of cream preparations containing rice bran extract has been carried out. This study aims to formulate and evaluate cream preparations containing bran extract from two varieties of white rice and their antioxidant activity. The white rice varieties used were the Kalpatali variety (FI) and the Rice 64 (FII) variety. There were three cream formulas, namely the basic formula (F0) and the formula containing rice bran extract with a concentration of 3.1% each (FI and FII). Evaluation of cream preparations included organoleptic test, homogeneity, pH, washability, stability, irritation test, and antioxidant activity test. This study showed that FI has an antioxidant activity of 87.23% and FII has an antioxidant activity of 64.08%. Different varieties of rice show differences in antioxidant activity in cream preparations containing bran extract. The best formula is FI which has good physical properties and higher antioxidant activity compared to FII.

Abstract

Tumbuhan marpuyan merupakan jenis tumbuhan liar banyak tersebar di wilayah Indonesia. Secara empiris, marpuyan dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk berbagai pengobatan. Daun tumbuhan marpuyan berpotensi sebagai antioksidan. Hasil penelitian terdahulu melaporkan ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan mempunyai aktivitas tabir surya yang kuat. Formulasi sediaan topikal dalam bentuk gel lebih baik  karena memberikan efek nyaman dikulit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memformula ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan dalam bentuk sediaan gel dan menentukan aktivitas antioksidan. Formulasi gel ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan 3 variasi konsentrasi yaitu 0,5% (FI), 1% (FII) dan 2% (FIII). Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode DPPH. Evaluasi gel meliputi pengamatan organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, uji stabilitas freeze and thaw, uji daya sebar, uji daya lekat dan uji iritasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan gel ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan memiliki aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat kuat pada FII (1%) dan FIII (2%). Hasil uji stabilitas menunjukkan gel gel ekstrak etanol daun marpuyan tidak stabil setelah disimpan 8 minggu dan tidak memenuhi persyaratan uji daya sebar.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of ranitidine in generic and trade name tablet preparations by UV spectrophotometry. Based on the results obtained linearity value of r = 0.9999 with limit of detection (LOD) 0.1667 ppm and limit of quantitation (LOQ) 0.5558 ppm. Precision obtained RSD results of 0.641% and in accuracy obtained % recovery at 3 concentrations of 9, 12 and 15 ppm respectively 101.05; 100.63; and 100.33%. The results of the determination of levels in ranitidine tablet preparations with five generic tablets and five trade name tablets have met the requirements for levels in medicinal preparations for ranitidine tablet preparations according to the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia VI Edition, which contains ranitidine not less than 90.0% and not more than 110.0%. It can be concluded that the UV spectrophotometric method used in the study has met the parameters set in the validation test so that this method can be applied to the analysis of determining ranitidine levels in a laboratory. Abstract

The Kedabu fruit, scientifically known as Sonneratia ovata Backer, is a mangrove plant commonly found in Indonesia. This fruit is valued for its antioxidant properties and shows potential as a natural sunscreen. This study was conducted to determine the in-vitro activity of the extract and fractions of Kedabu fruit (Sonneratia ovata Backer) as a sunscreen, with the potential for development into a natural sunscreen preparation. Experiments were conducted on extracts and various fractions, including n-hexane, ethyl acetate, n-butanol, and water. The extracts and fractions of Kedabu fruit were prepared at concentrations of 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 µg/mL. Their absorbance was then measured in the UV A (320-375 nm) and UV B (290-320 nm) wavelength ranges. The n-butanol fraction, at a concentration of 1000 µg/mL, appears to be the most effective sunscreen, demonstrating a %Te value of 8.369% and %Tp of 50.345%. This performance places it in the standard Suntan range for UV B protection. Additionally, it has an SPF value of 10.58, categorizing it within the highest level of sun protection.

Abstract

Derendan (Lansium parasiticum (Osbeck) K.C. Sahni & Bennet) is a plant from the Meliaceae family that grows in the tropics, especially in Sumatra (Indonesia). It was reported that this plant has antimalarial, antimutagenic, and anticancer properties. This study aims to determine the cytotoxic activity of compounds isolated from the methanol extract of Lansium parasiticum bark. Extraction using maceration method with methanol solvent. Vacuum Liquid Chromatography (KVC) with 21 different eluent ratios (n-hexane : ethyl acetate and ethyl acetate ; methanol) was utilized for the fractionation. The result was 21 fractions. The washing technique was used to purify fraction 17. The obtained compound LPR17 with a melting point of 239-241ᵒC. Based on the UV spectrum, the wavelengths of the LPR17 compound were 277.0 nm and 205.0 nm. The FT-IR spectrum shows aliphatic OH, CH, C=O, C-H, and C-C functional groups. This compound reacts positively with the Liebermann-Burchard reagent. The compound obtained is a triterpenoid group. Cytotoxic test using BSLT method. LPR17 compounds provide very strong cytotoxic activity (LC50 = 67.15 g/mL).

Abstract

Penyakit kronis merupakan penyebab utama morbiditas dan mortalitas di seluruh dunia, termasuk di Indonesia. Penyakit seperti diabetes mellitus, hipertensi, penyakit jantung, dan penyakit paru obstruktif kronik (PPOK) tidak hanya berdampak pada kualitas hidup individu, tetapi juga memberikan beban ekonomi dan sosial yang signifikan bagi keluarga dan sistem pelayanan kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas kesehatan masyarakat melalui pemberian edukasi mengenai penyakit kronis, meliputi pemahaman tentang gejala, faktor risiko, serta strategi pencegahannya. Edukasi diikuti oleh 50 orang masyarakat yang menghadiri Car Free Day Jalan Sudirman, Pekanbaru, Provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah edukasi secara langsung menggunakan media leafleat dan diskusi tanya jawab. Materi edukasi adalah penyakit kronis seperti hipertensi, diabetes dan asam urat, dengan tema CERIA (Cegah Hipertensi Diabetes dan Asam Urat), mulai dari cara pencegahan, mengetahui gejala dan faktor risiko penyebab penyakit kronis tersebut. Untuk mengetahui tingkat pengetahuan masyarakat maka dilakukan pemberian lembar ceklis tes awal dan tes akhir. Hasil dari analisis tes awal dan tes akhir menggunakan uji Wilcoxon. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan p value sebesar 0,000 dimana nilai tersebut lebih kecil dari 0,05 sehingga dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan antara tes awal dan tes akhir pengetahuan responden. Kegiatan pengabdian ini telah berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang penyakit kronis. Diharapkan dengan adanya program pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat mencegah tejadinya hipertensi, diabetes dan asam urat serta dapat meningkatkan derajat kesehatan masyarakat.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that poses challenges during Ramadan fasting due to changes in dietary patterns and mediacation schedules. These conditions may increase the risk of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, thus requiring proper health education. This community service aimed to improve diabetic patients knowledge regarding medication use during fasting. The methods included lectures, distribution of leaflets, and evaluation using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The activity was carried  out at Raudhatul Jannah Mosque Pekanbaru, on March 16, 2025, involving 30 participants. The results showed an improvement in participants knowledge, where the “very good” category increased from 13,3% to 40% after the intervention, Statistical analysis using a T-test obtained a p-value of 0,014  indicating a significant difference. This program demonstrated that simple education through counseling and leaflet distribution is effective in enhancing public understanding of proper medication use for diabetic patients during fasting.
