Abstract

Landscape Linguistics is a study that focuses on the use of language in public spaces, both monolingual, bilingual and multilingual. The purpose of this study is to analyze the linguistic psychology of landscapes in public spaces on Buru Island. The research method used is qualitative. In this study, researchers took sources from the nameplate or baleho found on Buru Island, precisely in Namlea Village. The data sources are several photos in public places on Buru Island. Analysis of research data, namely when researchers collect the results of information board documentation scattered on Buru Island, all of the documentation is classified according to their respective characteristics, namely, signboards, billboards and other information. Then the meaning and function are determined by using Landscape linguistic studies. The results of the study found that in the public space of the Buru Island community there were two variations of the language used, namely Indonesian and the Maluku dialect, as well as the Landscape function, namely Formal and Informal

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of personification figurative language in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis techniques. The research data is in the form of quotations of verses or sentences that use personification in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta. Data were analyzed by identifying the meaning and impact of using personification figure of speech on readers. The results showed that Habiburrahman El Shirazy often uses personification figure of speech in the novel Ayat-Ayat Cinta to describe the beauty of nature and give the impression that nature has awareness and an important role in human life. Personification figure of speech is also used to convey a moral message about the importance of preserving nature and respecting the existence of other living things on earth. This research contributes to understanding the use of personification figure of speech in literature and enriches the study of literary techniques used in the novel “Ayat-Ayat Love". In addition, the results of this study can also be used as a reference for further research that wants to explore the use of personification of figurative language in literature. Abstract

Artikel ini merupakan paparan dan analisis berdasarkan sebuah studi kasus pada dua buah sekolah negeri di kota Kupang. Data diperoleh melalui observasi dan angket yang disebarkan kepada guru yang mengajar pada sekolah tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pembelajaran tetap berlangsung meskipun pandemi covid-19 memaksa pembelajaran berlangsung secara virtual. Guru tidak mnegalami kesulitan untuk menyampaikan materi ajar kepada siswanya karena ketersediaan teknologi beserta dengan berbagai aplikasi dan fiturnya. Guru menemukan tantangan baru dalam mengelola pembelajaran. Meskipun demikian, terdapat berbagai kendala yang andil dalam keefektifan pembelajaran. Kendala tersebut berasal dari siswa, ataupun infrastruktur teknis yang juga menjadi kendala guru. Temuan dalam penelitian ini dianalis dari lima aspek, yaitu aspek pedagogis, aspek penguasaan teknologi, aspek kesiapan sumber daya manusia, aspek ekonomi, dan aspek sosial. Semua aspek tersebut saling terkait oleh karena itu dibutuhkan intervensi dari semua pemangku kepentingan untuk mewujudkan pembelajaran dalam lingkungan kelas virtual yang efektif. Abstract

Sebuah komunikasi dapat berlangsung apabila bahasa yang diguakan dapat dipahami sehingga pesan yang disampaikan dapat diterima. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis alih kode dan campur kode Pada Novel Menjemput Cinta Ke Australia Karya Afif Mushofa. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dilakukan dengan tidak mengutamakan angka-angka, tetapi mengutamakan kedalaman penghayatan terhadap interaksi antara konsep yang sedang dikaji secara impiris. Adapun jenis penelitian dalam adalah kepustakaan. Sumber dan jenis data penelitian ini adalah data tertulis pada novel Menjemput Cinta Ke Australia karya Afif Mushofa Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada novel Menjemput Cinta ke Australia karya Afif Mushofa terdapat 30 kutipan Alih Kode dan 15 kutipan Campur Kode. Alih Kode dan Campur Kode yang paling dominan digunakan adalah alih kode dengan mencampurkan bahasa Indonesia, bahasa Inggris bahasa arab. Dengan kata lain pengarang Afif Mushofa senang menggunakan Alih kode. Oleh karena itu, dapat dikemukakan bahwa alih kode merupakan kekhasan Afif Mushofa sebagai pengarang Novel. Abstract

This study focused on middle voice in Uab Meto. The point of this study is to describe the morphosyntactic element of the middle voice in Uab Meto. There are three forms of middle voice constructions in Uab Meto, namely reflexive, reciprocal, and lexical. A subject-reflective enclitic demonstrates the middle's reflexivity. Ma-, which is usually linked to the verb, signifies reciprocity. es nok es "each other" (lit. "one with one") is an additional signal that the construction is reciprocal, but its use is optional. There is a lexical middle verb type that is unmarked and syntactically intransitive. The argument's interpretation depends on the speaker's perceptions of the circumstances.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of media images on the initial reading ability of group A children at Pembina State Kindergarten, Waikase sub-district in 2022. This study used a quantitative experimental Pre-experimental Design method with a one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study were group A children a total of 23 people consisting of 9 boys and 14 girls. Sampling in this study using nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling technique. Analysis techniques include normality test, hypothesis testing and statistical hypothesis. The results of the normality test obtained a significance value of 0.071 pretest and 0.122 posttest more than (>) 0.05 meaning that the data is normally distributed. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the use of media images on the initial reading ability of group A children. It can be seen from the significance value of initial reading ability of 0.000, less than 0.05 (0.000 <0.05) with a t-count value of 18.40 > t table 1.717 which means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted there is a significant effect of the use of media images on children's early reading ability

Abstract

This research aims to describe the curses used by teenagers in the coastal area of Sandi Village, South Kaledupa District, Wakatobi Regency. The study is expected to contribute to the researcher's knowledge in the field of linguistics. The research data consists of utterances containing curses. The informants for this study were 15 individuals, comprising 8 females and 7 males aged between 12 to 18 years. This field research utilized a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including recording, listening, and note-taking. The study reveals that there are two forms of curses used by teenagers in Sandi Village, namely curses in the form of words and phrases. Curses used by teenagers in coastal families of Sandi Village can be categorized into three types: first, curses in the form of words, consisting of 14 words such as Pei (fool), Deppe (snub-nosed), kumbou (monitor lizard), Tajo (genitals), Kaffiri (infidel), Kajilo (cross-eyed), Dhobba (fat), Onitu (devil), Beka (cat), Jahannamu (damned), setani (devil), pogko (skink), Te saa (snake), and Te ibilisi (demon). Second, curses in the form of phrases, with 10 instances such as Mata kajilou (Your eyes are cross-eyed), Kapatuli pei (naughty fool), Usauri Kabeo-beo (extremely foolish), Kaleau (your genitals), Te ngarou (your mouth), Lengka nuyi ina (your mother's genitals), Teyi ama (your father), Botau (your bald head), Morusu koppe (skinny and bony), Morusu dao (ugly and skinny), Unimmiu (your vagina), sauri konduo (too crazy), teana harramu (illegitimate child), Lombu nu ngaro (mouth hole). It is important to note that some words and phrases might have specific cultural or regional meanings that are crucial to understanding the context of this research.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis kontribusi khotbah Jumat dalam memelihara kerukunan antar umat beragama di Kota Baubau, daerah dengan keragaman agama tinggi. Dengan metode kualitatif deskriptif, wawancara mendalam dilakukan terhadap lima imam masjid dan sepuluh jemaah untuk mengeksplorasi peran khotbah Jumat dalam memupuk toleransi, menghormati perbedaan, dan meningkatkan dialog lintas agama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa khotbah Jumat berkontribusi pada tiga ranah utama: (a) keluarga, melalui penguatan nilai toleransi antar anggota keluarga; (b) sesama Muslim, dengan menekankan persatuan dan solidaritas; dan (c) antar umat beragama, melalui promosi dialog konstruktif dan kerja sama lintas agama. Temuan ini menegaskan peran strategis khotbah Jumat sebagai media dalam membangun kesadaran pluralisme dan harmoni sosial di masyarakat multireligius seperti Kota Baubau. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi panduan bagi para khatib dalam menyusun khotbah yang relevan dan mendukung perdamaian antar umat beragama.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of a functional pragmatic approach in developing students' contextual understanding of literary works. The functional pragmatic approach emphasizes the importance of context in interpreting text meaning, considering the social, cultural, and situational backgrounds that influence communication in literature. In literature education, this method helps students go beyond understanding the literal content of a text. It encourages them to explore the deeper layers of meaning by considering the relationship between the author, the reader, and the broader societal context in which the text was produced. The research employs a qualitative case study design, engaging literature students as participants to examine how this approach is implemented in real classroom settings. The study utilizes several data collection techniques, including observations, interviews, and document analysis. These methods allow the researcher to comprehensively understand how the functional pragmatic approach is applied during literature lessons and its impact on students' comprehension. The findings indicate that this approach significantly enhances students' ability to critically analyze the meaning of texts and deepen their understanding of the social and cultural contexts embedded in the literature.Additionally, it fosters an appreciation for the values and messages conveyed through literary works. The study's implications suggest that incorporating a functional pragmatic approach in literature instruction could powerfully support the development of students' contextual understanding and critical thinking skills. By emphasizing the importance of context in literary analysis, this approach can help students engage with texts on a deeper level, making literature more meaningful and relevant to their lives.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah memiliki peranan penting dalam mengembangkan bakat siswa untuk itu sebagai bentuk penerapan metode seorang pengajar harus mampu kreatif agar mata pelajaran yang diajarkan dapat dipahami oleh siswa. Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini yakni Kegiatan “Kemah Sastra” bertujuan untuk menumbuhkembangkan pengetahuan dan minat tentang bahasa dan sastra kepada siswa SMA di kota Namlea untuk lebih kreatif dalam berkarya. Selain itu, melalui kegiatan ini mahasiswapun dapat membiasakan diri dalam melakukan berbagai kegiatan yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Kegiatan ini juga menjadi ajang unjuk kreatifitas mahasiswa dalam bidang sastra. Kemah sastra yang dilaksanakan di Desa Lala, Kecamatan Lilialy, Kabupaten Buru selama tiga hari yakni pada tahun 2020. Hari pertama para peserta dikumpulkan di tengah lapangan untuk dibagi berdasarkan kelompok dalam hal ini memberikan edukasi kepada siswa tentang pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Hasil Pengabdian Kegiatan kemah sastra memberikan hasil yang sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. Melalui kegiatan kemah sastra, pemahaman dan pengetahuan para siswa dan mahasiswa tentang bahasa dan sastra dapat meningkat. Selain itu, para peserta kemah sastra dapat menumbuhkan minat dan bakat tentang seni sastra.
