Abstract

Preparedness is a series of activities carried out to anticipate disasters through organization and through appropriate and effective measures with the expected result being a significant reduction in the risk and losses caused by disasters. This study aims to explore nurses' perceptions regarding readiness to respond to disasters, nurses' preparedness in facing disasters, the role of nurses in disasters, obstacles and support in providing disaster nursing services. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this study. Purposive sampling was used to select 10 nurses for focus group discussions and four nurses for in-depth interviews. Data were collected from January to February 2024 and analyzed using content analysis. Readiness to respond to disasters includes two subcategories: disaster experience and reasons to immediately respond to disasters. Health workers' preparedness in facing disasters consists of four subcategories: early warning, collaboration, resources, development of specific training. The role of health workers in disasters consists of two subcategories: preparedness stage and response stage. In addition, obstacles and support in providing disaster services consist of two subcategories: obstacles experienced and support needed in providing nursing services when a disaster occurs. The findings of this study can serve as a basis for developing disaster preparedness enhancement programs for nurses and other health professionals. The results of the study can also be used as important evidence to encourage disaster health service policies in an effort to reduce risks caused by disasters with the involvement of stakeholders.

Abstract

The continuity of student learning in the midst of a pandemic is important. This encourages teachers to choose priorities in implementing distance learning. Teachers' efforts to accommodate inclusive learning in the midst of social and economic challenges and gaps in distance learning are a step in realizing student learning sustainability in the midst of a pandemic. The research conducted on 374 Mathematics teachers in Indonesia aims to determine the responses of Mathematics teachers to the continuity of student learning during the pandemic. These responses are seen from the teacher's priorities in distance learning and the efforts made in implementing inclusive learning during the pandemic. This research is descriptive research. Sampling was done using snowball sampling technique. Data collection was done by distributing online questionnaires. Several semi-open questions were asked which were then analyzed qualitatively using the Miles and Huberman framework and using descriptive statistics. The results showed that 81,18% teachers still prioritize the right of students to continue to acquire knowledge, by not pursuing the achievement of curriculum targets. To accommodate these student rights, teachers were encouraged to carry out inclusive learning. As many 100% teachers tended to apply the principles of flexible learning and 0,94% teachers collaborated with the student's parents by apllying the type of communication initiated by Epstein, namely by designing effective communication with parents through home visit activities.

Abstract

Incidents of sexual violence are like an iceberg phenomenon and continue to increase every year. However, this increase is inversely proportional to the rehabilitative efforts provided for victims of sexual violence. The impact of sexual violence is trauma that makes the victim feel helpless. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) is the therapy of choice to treat these impacts. This systematic review aims to determine the implementation and benefits of TF-CBT for trauma victims of sexual violence. The search used seven databases: Scopus, Sage Journals, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, PubMed, Clinical Key, and EBSCOhost. The research design used in the selected articles was three with RCTs, 5 with Quasy experiments, and 2 with cohorts. Selection is based on the criteria of article publication time in the last ten years, providing full text in English. The symptoms measured in trauma cases are PTSD, post-traumatic symptoms, mental problems such as depression, suicide attempts, and behavioral problems. The results showed that TF-CBT positively influenced all of these symptoms. Implementing TF-CBT also involves the role of parents and modifications with culturally sensitive principles. TF-CBT can reduce trauma symptoms. It is hoped that TF-CBT can be used in other trauma cases and apply modification principles that previous researchers have carried out by being culturally sensitive and involving the role of parents.

Abstract

Ineffective health management and adherence are the problems of mentally ill patients. Thus, if left untreated, they could create significant disadvantages for clients, their families, the community, and even the government. This case study aimed to identify the effect of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) on clients with Ineffective health management and to identify adherence, acceptance, and commitment to the regimen. The research approach used in this study was case study conducted on 5 respondents consisting of mentally ill patients with Ineffective health management. The ACT was given for 4 sessions through two to four meetings. The analyzed clients were measured using MARS (Medication Adherence Rating Scale). After the client was given ACT and nursing intervention, the adherence increased by 71% (14 points), and the acceptance ability and commitment increased to 70% on five clients. Medication adherence, acceptance, and commitment levels were lower in the younger clients, who get stigma and lack of family support. Mentally ill patients given ACT will survive more than others without ACT because they have agreed to stay healthy by taking medication regularly. So, this study recommended ACT to increase the health management of mentally ill patients as the approach to increase adherence and commitment to treatment.

Abstract

Background: Parents of children with intellectual disabilities face a lifelong caregiving responsibility with multidimensional burdens, including chronic stress, financial pressure, and limited culturally sensitive mental health support. Previous studies have focused more on psychological aspects, so the holistic understanding of resilience and cultural dynamics is still limited. Purpose: To examine the experiences of parents in caring for children with intellectual disabilities Method: Literature search using PRISMA guidelines on PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar (2015–2025) with related keywords. Quantitative studies on caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities were selected, while non-parents and non-intelectual disability were excluded. Study selection and methodological quality assessment (Joanna Briggs Institute checklist) were conducted by more than one researcher. Narrative synthesis was applied due to the heterogeneity of the data. Results: Analysis of 10 studies (2,473 participants) revealed high emotional burdens (stress and anxiety) due to children's behavior, stigma, and lack of support. Resilience strategies such as mindful parenting and recreational activities enhance parent-child bonding and self-efficacy. Culture influences coping mechanisms, while father involvement is often hindered by traditional norms. Compared to previous reviews, these findings emphasize cross-cultural resilience and the urgency of community-based gender-inclusive interventions. Conclusion: Caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities demonstrate resilience despite facing complex challenges. Interventions need to integrate psychosocial training, community support, as well as culturally sensitive policies and father participation.
