Abstract

Sustainability reporting is  one of the company’s efforts to present non-financial information to stakeholders. It is hoped that this will increase the company’s transparency in all its activities related to the environment, social and economy. This study used a bibliometric analysis related to the previous studies related to the issue of sustainability reports. The current study was conducted by using data from the Scopus sources. The keyword used is sustainability reporting with a total data of 428 documents. The current study was carried out only for the ASEAN countries. The research identified several things including research contributions by countries, journals, topics, keywords, authorships, and affiliations. The finding shows that the ASEAN countries dominating the so-called studies related to the sustainability reporting is Malaysia and Indonesia. The mostly-used keywords are sustainability and sustainability reporting. This study also presents the data on journal affiliations and publishers who contributed to this study. The results have limitations including data sources and supporting software used. Sources of data only come from articles accredited by Scopus, then the data obtained is processed using only 1 software. The novelty of this research is to analyze the sustainability report issues by using a Bibliometric model in the ASEAN countries. It is expectedly used to provide more insight towards researchers and academia interested in discussing under sustainability reporting issues.

Abstract

Noblemen, generally, appreciate their own language as social status in a community. However, Noblemen in Mambalan village have different attitude toward their language. This research aims at finding out the attitude of noblemen in Mambalan village towards their own language. It implements qualitative methods to explain the results of the research. Data are collected via questionnaire which are given to the selected informants; they are about 50 informants with age range between 21-50. The questionnaire is divided into two parts; the first questionnaire aims at confirming their social status and the second questionnaire relates to the language they use in daily communication. The results show that the noblemen of Mambalan village have negative attitudes toward the high Sasak language. This negative attitude induces a gradual decrease in the existing values which eventually influence the pride of the member of the aristocracy of Mambalan village to use high Sasak language. A predominant example of this decreasing value is apparent in their preference for utilization of Bahasa Indonesia and low Sasak language rather than the use of high Sasak language. They regard Bahasa Indonesia and low Sasak language to be more prestigious than high Sasak language and consider it as the appropriate tool of communication in their daily interaction and social communication.

Abstract

There are differences of opinion arising from the results of research on the use of WhatsApp in ELT. The results revealed that the use of WhatsApp software contributed positively to the development of English writing proficiency, and the other results considered that the use of WhatsApp has many weaknesses and difficulties in writing and other language instructions. This controversy allowed the researcher to conduct research aimed at finding out whether there was a correlation between the use of WhatsApp as a tool in writing activities and EFL student writing performance and to find out how close the relationship between the two variables is. The statistical correlation from Pearson Product Moment revealed that the correlation of the independent variable (X) with the dependent variable (Y) showed a sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, and the correlation rate was very strong with a correlation coefficient (r = 0.832), along with the hypothesis tested showing Ho: ?1 ? 0. This study shows a very strong correlation between the use of WhatsApp as a tool in English writing activities and writing performance. WhatsApp interventions into ELT in the form of group WhatsApp and individual WhatsApp’s text message interactions have contributed to EFL students’ writing skills as the correlation of two variables goes parallel. The more students do the writing activity through WhatsApp, the higher the writing achievement they acquire.

Abstract

The motivational aspect has great influence on the urge to develop as does self-efficacy brings optimism towards attaining learning goals. High self-efficacy results to motivation for success in learning activities since the individual believes in his or her ability to accomplish a task. The current study indicates the importance of motivation and self-efficacy as the primary indicators of English learning proficiency. Therefore, the present study is aimed at assessing the correlation between motivation, self-efficacy, and language proficiency, with a particular focus on gender. The study employs a quantitative study by using a correlational method, using two types of questionnaires to obtain the data from the sample consisting of 71 participants, both 48 males and 23 females. The interplay of motivation, self-efficacy, and language proficiency across gender was statistically analyzed by using a Pearson correlation and a Multiple regression was used to explore the predictive ability of psychological variables. In male students, the correlation analysis found motivation demonstrated a strong correlation to self-efficacy of (R=0.680, p < 0.01) with a Sig.value (0.000 < 0.05), motivation with language proficiency also demonstrated a strong correlation (R=0.735, p < 0.01) with a Sig. value (0.000 < 0.05), and self-efficacy and language proficiency revealed a strong correlation (R=0.662, p < 0.01) with a Sig. value (0.000 < 0.05). In female students, motivation is closely-related to self-efficacy with a sig. value (0.000 < 0.05) and showed a very strong correlation (R=0.831, p < 0.01), while motivation and language proficiency resulted a strong correlation (R=0.748, p < 0.01) with a Sig. value (0.000 < 0.05), and self-efficacy is also correlated strongly with language proficiency (R=0.692, p < 0.01). The regression model for both genders demonstrated that motivation and self-efficacy significantly predict language proficiency; for male students, the adjusted (R2= 57.1% > 0.33 or < 0.67), while for female students, the adjusted (R2= 53.3% > 0.33 or < 0.67). The results reveal that moderate levels of motivation and self-efficacy must have been associated with language proficiency. Undoubtedly, motivation and self-efficacy are moderate indicators to predict language proficiency in ELT. The study can assist English and non-English teachers, students, etc. to increase motivation and self-efficacy theories, gender pedagogies and classroom learning climate and student language achievement.
