Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the pulmonary infectious diseases become a global threat, given the number of occurrences of cases, especially in Indonesia as one of the countries included in the 22 countries with major problems of tuberculosis disease (high-burden countries). Besides being the source of transmitting, one of the factors that can also affect the occurrence of pulmonary TB disease is the house physical environment (such as ventilation, natural lighting, flooring, and density of residential house) that does not qualify as a healthy home. Including the type of observational research with cross sectional study design. The target population is the population in West Java and the household members aged 15 years and above who became suspected pulmonary TB patients were successfully recorded/interviewed in Riskesdas 2013. There are some physical house environment variables significantly associated with the incidence of pulmonary TB in West Java that is the kitchen ventilation variable with an Odds Ratio (OR) of 1160, family room ventilation variable with OR 1.122, badroom natural lighting variable with OR 1148, and kitchen natural lighting variable with OR 1124. By knowing the variables that have a significant relationship to the occurrence of pulmonary tuberculosis so that people can pay more attention the efforts to improve the house physical environment into a better house.

Abstract

There have been many dissappointed tendencies that health services are currently biased to the more wealthy groups in the society. Corporatisms, competitions, and the emanation of more profit-oriented health institutions have put aside the public health service for the poor. Unfortunately, even the Department of Health have failed to stand for its fundamental functions in maintaining the public health and protecting the unfortunate people. The Department have been unable to respond the competitive environment and prevent the brain drain of qualified doctors from the public hospitals to the private institutions. It is suggested that the Department of Health should reorient its mission and tasks by applying strategic management approach. This new approach should also be accompanied with stronger external control of the public through the parliament and other pressure group; 'in the society. The author points out the importance of two elements of the society which would be effective as the control: 1) the researchers, who should be more assertive in contending the inequality of public health services; and 2) the NGO activists, who should be more sensitive and susceptible to various issues in public health. Finally, it is very important that the Department of Health has to comply with the public accountability so that their programmes would be more focused on objective issues of public health.

Abstract

PIYUNGAN LANDFILL, DIY The Piyungan Landfill with an area of 12.5 hectares is managed by DLHK DIY and accommodates waste from Yogyakarta City, Sleman, and Bantul. Since 2014, the capacity of the Piyungan Landfill is not sufficient to manage the rapidly generated waste. In early 2020, Piyungan TPA receives 560-580 tons of waste every day. At the end of 2020, the capacity of the Piyungan TPA will be increased to 438,000 tons which are expected to last for the next two years. WASTE REDUCTION FROM GENERATING SOURCES Garbage arises from various sources, so cooperation from various parties is needed. DLHK DIY needs to make a “garbage emergency” statement to raise public awareness. Especially for the Waste Sector, DLHK DIY, it is necessary to implement a policy of “only transporting sorted waste” by using a truck to separate each type of waste. The community must sort waste into four types, namely organic, inorganic recyclable, inorganic non-recyclable, and waste from the care of sick people in the household. The Health Office through the Sanitarian Health Center needs to mobilize the community to sort and utilize the existing land to make compost from organic waste. Sanitarians also need to socialize with the community to pack waste from patient care at home in separate containers. Disperindag DIY needs to urge shopping locations not to provide shopping plastic bags for consumers. Disperindag also needs to urge producers to use packaging with similar materials in one product to make it easier to sort waste. Disperindag can also require the recycling industry to use recyclable inorganic waste. PROCESSING OLD WASTE The pile of garbage in the Piyungan TPA needs to be reduced quickly using a large capacity incinerator. DLHK DIY needs to provide funds for the procurement of incinerators or can also open sponsorships from companies in DIY. The Piyungan landfill manager also needs to recruit human resources capable of operating the incinerator. PROCESSING NEW WASTE The Piyungan landfill manager can divide the waste processing area into four, according to the sorting criteria carried out by the community. Organic waste that is not reduced upstream can be processed into large-scale compost that has economic value. Recyclable inorganic waste must be utilized by the recycling industry. Non-recyclable inorganic waste and waste from household patient care are burned with incinerators to destroy pathogens. With complete management, domestic waste problems can be controlled. Awal 2020, setiap hari TPA Piyungan mendapat 560-580 ton sampah.

Abstract

Several public health center temporary closures due to antigen positive health workers in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta have been reported. Behind the scene, there was confusion among health workers when they were not sure about sources of transmission and concerns about wider transmission among health workers and their families. This paper reports the Yogyakarta City Health Office initiative to build health workers’ awareness and to protect health centers protected from transmitting all contagious conditions in the future, learning from the experience of the covid 19 pandemic. Kota Yogyakarta Health authority and Universitas Gadjah Mada held two focus group discussions to document (1) the experience of responding to cases of reactive antigens in health workers who need to receive future follow-up from the experiences of 18 puskesmas heads and elements of the health office, and (2) the puskesmas Covid 19 screening and testing capacity for the community and health personnel use. This report raises the importance of safe workplace operational rules that prevent disease transmission and urgent actions to enforce these rules in puskesmas and health offices.

Abstract

ies Trying out a presentation in a professional symposium is difficult for a beginner. Even novice writers have difficulty imagining what they will tell conference attendees. They even have difficulty distinguishing what questions they want to be answered and shared in scientific meetings. For example, they find it difficult to focus on something general (conceptual) or specific (operational); specific case stories different from others, failed cases, or best practice cases. This paper explores the importance of observing a preferred program and the potential of an open science approach in overcoming the difficulties of students and lecturers in starting their development as professionals. The primary failure of beginners is that they do not yet have a collection of one type of program from various countries, which they collect from day to day by comparing with each other. The second failure is that they do not have a discussion partner, which makes them open to finding hot points from their program, encouraging them to explore more exciting things. We emphasize that programming games and creating class assignments through an open science approach should be a writing strategy for students who analyze and apply the theory and framework of projects to help improve health programs in the field.

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting has decreased, but is not yet in accordance with WHO standards. There has been a lot of research on the role of the community through community based services in efforts to improve nutritional status and most of them recommend cross-sectors. The aim of this research is to identify and analyze forms of cross-sector support in preventing stunting. This type of research is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with mothers of toddlers, health workers at community health centers, posyandu and PKK cadres, as well as sub-district officials using a purposive sampling method. Data analysis was carried out by open coding using the OpenCode 4.03 application. The research results show that cross-sector support in preventing stunting is realized in the form of: health workforce, service delivery and financing. Health workforce is realized in empowering cadres and TPK in providing education, assisting toddlers and making posyandu reports. Service delivery is realized in measuring body weight and height, carrying out validation, following up on cases of malnourished toddlers by conducting examinations at community health centers, providing medicine and multivitamins, as well as PMT for toddlers. Financing is realized by high levels of community self-reliance in providing financial support for posyandu activities, Health Operational Assistance (BOK) from the Central government for socialization and cadre training activities, sub-district APBD for stunting PMT, and the Health Service for cadre incentives.

Abstract

Previous studies on maternal health have highlighted the need to improve health literacy, particularly among women from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Some crucial factors for improving maternal health literacy are midwife capacity and systems support that can help ensure women's ability and motivation to access timely health services. However, the extent of roles midwives need and the system that must be developed require further elaboration. The aim of this systematic review was to investigate approaches for enhancing maternal health literacy in low-income pregnant women. Using Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, the systematic search was conducted on two databases: PubMed and ScienceDirect. All English articles published from 2011 to 2023 were searched using the keywords pregnant, antenatal, prenatal, perinatal, midwife, health literacy, midwife-led care, helpline, and photo novel. Of the 1539 articles, 15 were included for final assessment. The results suggest that improving maternal health literacy among low-income pregnant women is related to empowering these women, midwives as frontline care providers engaging with them, and the health care system as a health literacy organization. In conclusion, improving the healthcare system and strengthening midwives' leadership as proximal caregivers is crucial for improving maternal health literacy among low-income pregnant mothers. These efforts could be realized with support from government roles, educational institutions, and professional associations.
