Abstract

Flies are insects and act as mechanical vectors for various diseases. These insects have always coexisted with humans. Preliminary survey results obtained 10.8 birds / flygrill categorized as high density. One effort to reduce the density of flies using four effective microorganism (EM 4). The research objective was to determine the effect of four concentrations of effective microorganism (EM 4) to the density of flies. The study design used is True Experiment with models pretest posttest with control group. This research was conducted in the village of cattle breeders Sidomukti Subdistric Bandungan District of Semarang. The real test with a concentration of 0.328%: 0.656%: 1.312%: 2.624%, and 5.246%. With the control and treatment carried out 5 and 5 repetitions needed 30 cowshed. From statistical test their mean level of concentration of the density of flies before and after use of effective microorganism 4 obtained sequentially is 43.70%: 52.30: 74.11%: 79.58%: 85.24% -1.73% while the average control. Furthermore, to examine differences in concentration and control test Kruskal Wellis test with significance level of 0.05 (p = 0.05) with a 95% confidence level (α) 0.05 p value (probalibilitas) 0.000 <0.05 shows there differences in the level of concentration of the density of flies. To determine the effective concentration level, then used mann whetney test with p <0.05, the analysis of the respective mean concentrations of p <0.05 showed no significant difference. As for suggestions for effective concentration is 5.248% with a mean of 85.24% decrease.

Abstract

Semarang city is endemic regions, with the highest incidence rate in the District Tembalang in 2014 (IR = 110.55 for 100.000 in population). Case of DHF in Kedungmundu Primary Health Service was just happen 2014 which amount 154 cases with 86% of cases in the age group of 6 months-14 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of host factors (age 6 months-14 years) and the existence of the vector with the incidence of DHF in Kedungmundu Primary Health Service Semarang. This type of research was quantitative with a case control approach. Total sample was 104 samples. Analysis of data using chi-square test. The results of this research showed that there were association using mosquito repellent (p=0.003), history of DHF illness (p=0.008), and the existence of larva (p=0.0001) with incidence of DHF. Meanwhile, there were no relationship habit of sleeping morning/noon (p=0.430), habit of sleeping afternoon (p=0.691), habit of hanging clothes (p=0.316), using of mosquito nets (p=0.339), and nutritional status (p=0.150) with incidence of DHF. It was advisable for the community to increase efforts to improve activities mosquito nest eradication (PSN), and for Kedungmundu Primary Health Service to increase efforts to control DHF, for example regular larva monitoring and thorough.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an endemic infectious disease in Tembalang District, Semarang. DHF is caused by dengue virus and transmitted by Aedes sp. mosquitoes especially Aedes aegypti. Patient characteristics, season, physical environmental factors and populations density is one of the risk factors for DHF transmission. This study aims to describe epidemiology of patient characteristics, time, physical environmental factors and population density on DHF incidence and analyze the correlation of factors and DHF incidence in Tembalang District. The type of this research is observasional descriptive with cross sectional study design. Samples of this research is 122 verified cases by Health Office Semarang City and they who live on Tembalang District. The epidemiological analysis obtained that the highest percentage of DHF patient is 61,5% in the male gender, 59% at the age of 4-12 years old and 63,1% during the rainy season. The result of statistical analysis show that there is no correlation between area height (p = 0,084), temperature (p = 0,823), rainfall (p = 0,692), land use (p = 0,655) and population density (p = 0,387) with DHF incidence in Tembalang District at 2019.

Abstract

Scabies generally attacks people who live in groups such as in dormitories Darussalam Islamic Boarding School of Banyuwangi found many students had a history of scabies.This study objected to describe the incidence of scabies, environmental sanitation, and behavior of moslem students in Darussalam Islamic Boarding School of Banyuwangi.This research is descriptive research type through cross-sectional approach.The research subjects were moslem students who settled in the dormitory Darussalam Islamic Boarding School of Banyuwangi. Samples taken as many as 102 moslem students using proportional random sampling technique.The results showed thatscabies had attacked 84.3% moslem students, most of the respondents have a good knowledge about scabies disease (48%), positive attitudetowards scabies disease (94.1%), exchanging personal equipments with other students, settled a room with relatively poor sanitary conditions (96.1%), and no evidence of mites in the water bathing pool moslem students. It is advisable to carry out activities to improve knowledge, encouragement to behave clean and healthy living, as well as the improvement of boarding facilities comply with health standards.

Abstract

This time, tea has been modified to kinds of drinks, one of them was ice Thai Tea. Based on the components and process of Thai Tea making is very possible occurrence of bacterial and fungal contamination. The purpose of this research is to analyze relations between hygiene sanitation with microbiological quality in ice Thai Tea in Tembalang. This study is observational-analytic with using cross sectional design. The samples were 31 samples of ice Thai Tea. Data were analyzed using Fisher Exact. The results showed that most of ice Thai Tea did not quality with 26 samples (83,9%) of unqualitified Coliform status, 21 samples (67,7%) were contaminated with Escherichia coli, and 5 samples (16,1%) were contaminated with yeast/ mold/ fungi. This study shows there is relations between personal hygiene (p=0,043) and sanitation equipment (p=0,043) with microbiological quality in ice Thai Tea but there is not relations between storage of raw materials (p=0,058) and sanitation place (p=0,631) with microbiological quality in ice Thai Tea. Traders should pay attention to personal hygiene and sanitation equipment when making ice Thai Tea so that bacterial contamination can be minimized.

Abstract

Desa Sukodono adalah salah satu wilayah di Kabupaten Demak yang endemik filariasis (angka rata-rata 1,39%). Penemuan kasus baru dan mikrofilaria pada tubuh penderita kronis meningkatkan potensi terjadinya penularan dan infeksi mikrofilaria pada nyamuk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui populasi Culex sp sebagai vektor filariasis. Penelitian ini adalah survei deskriptif dengan desain cross sectional. Sampel pada 155 rumah tangga. Nyamuk dikumpulkan menggunakan metode pengumpulan pendaratan dan pengumpulan istirahat pada pukul 6 sore - 6 pagi. Pengamatan lingkungan dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi kondisi lingkungan (tempat berkembang biak dan tempat peristirahatan) Culex sp. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa spesies Culex ditangkap di desa Sukodono termasuk Cx. quinquefasciatus (58,5%), Cx. vishnui (35,8%), Cx. tritaeniorhychus (4,2%). Tingkat infeksi 0%. Sedangkan dari parsial Cx quinquefasciatus 12%, Cx. vishnui 13%, dan Cx. tritaeniorhychus 36%. Rata-rata suhu dan kelembaban 33.190C dan 67,93%. Ada tempat berkembang biak dan tempat istirahat berupa semak (69,7%), rawa (83,2%), beras (100%), genangan air (53,3%) dan ternak (unggas (93,5%); kambing (11%)) yang mendukung kepadatan nyamuk. Kepadatan tertinggi dari larva ditemukan di parit (1,4 larva). Proses penularan filariasis di Desa Sukodono masih terjadi, sehingga perlu kewaspadaan dan peningkatan upaya pencegahan filariasis. Bagi masyarakat, kebutuhan untuk meningkatkan upaya pengendalian vektor dan perbaikan lingkungan. Kata kunci: Filariasis, Culex, Angka Infeksi, Parousitas POPULATION OF CULEX SP AS VECTORS OF FILARIASIS ABSTRACT Sukodono village is one of area in Demak district witch was endemic of filariasis (mf rate 1,39%). The discovery of new cases and microfilaria on chronic sufferers’ body raises the potential occurrence of transmission and infection microfilaria on mosquitoes. This research aims to know population of Culex sp as vectors of filariasis. This study was an descriptive survey by cross sectional design. The sample was on 155 households. Mosquito was collected using a method of landing collection and resting collection at 6 pm - 6 am. Environmental observations performed to identify environmental conditions (breeding places and resting places) of Culex sp. The results showed that the species of Culex were caught in Sukodono village including Cx. quinquefasciatus (58,5%), Cx. vishnui (35,8%), Cx. tritaeniorhychus (4,2%). Infection rate 0%. While of paroucity of Cx quinquefasciatus 12%, Cx. vishnui 13%, and Cx. tritaeniorhychus 36%. The average of temperature and humidity 33,190C and 67,93%. There are breeding places and resting places in the form of shrubs (69.7%), swamp (83.2%), rice (100%), puddle (53.3%) and livestock (poultry (93.5%); goat (11%)) that support mosquito density. The highest density of larvae found in ditch (1,4 larvas). The process of transmission of filariasis in Sukodono village was still happened, so that it takes vigilance and improvement of filariasis prevention efforts. Abstract

Background: Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by Sarcoptes scabiei. Scabies is still a neglected health problem in the world. In Indonesia, scabies ranks 3rd out of 12 of the most common skin diseases. Islamic boarding school students are generally prone to scabies because they live and sleep in the same place. Scabies can be caused by gender, level of education lack of knowledge and the extent of inadequate ventilation. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the relationship between gender, knowledge and extent of ventilation with the incidence of scabies at the Nurus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School Semarang. Research Metodes: This study is a quantitative study with an observational analytic approach and a cross-sectional study design. The sample in this study were 107 respondents with a purposive sampling technique. Data collection using google form and analyzed using chi square. Results: The results of this study indicate that there are 19.6% of respondents suffering from scabies. There was a sex relationship with the incidence of scabies (p-value = 0.001), there was no relationship between the level of education and the incidence of scabies (p-value = 0.557), there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and the incidence of scabies (p-value = 0.036), there was a relationship between the extent of ventilation. with the incidence of scabies (p-value = 0.023). Conclusion: There is a relationship between gender, knowledge and extent of ventilation with the incidence of scabies in students of the Nurus Sunnah Islamic Boarding School in Semarang in 2020.

Abstract

Background : Processed beverage powder is a drink that comes from fruit juice with a variety of flavors. Poor processing of powdered drinks can cause contamination, such as contamination of Coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli and fungi, which if consumed can cause diarrhea. The purpose of this research is to analyze correlations between hygiene sanitation and microbiological quality of powdered drink processed in Elementary School and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Gunungpati Public Health Center Semarang). Methods : This is an observational analytic study with cross sectional study design. The samples were 70 participants consists of 35 samples processed powdered drinks and 35 ready to drink samples . Data were analyzed using Chi Square and Mantel Haenszel. The result showed that 23 samples (65,7%) of processed powdered  drinks were contaminated with Coliform, 22 samples (62,9%) were contaminated with Escherichia coli and 4 samples (11,4%) contaminated fungus. While 5 samples (14,3%) of drink powder contaminated with Escherichia coli. Result : This study showed  correlation between personal hygiene and microbiological quality of processed powdered drinks b (p=0,023), but has no correlation between personal hygiene and microbiological quality of processed powdered drinks of an outside canteen (p=0,236). Mantel Haenszel  test showed  correlation between personal hygiene and microbiological quality of processed powdered drinks of inschool canteen and outside canteen (p=0,013). There is no relation between equipment sanitation with micorbiological quality of processed powdered drinks of inschool canteen (p=1) and outside canteen (p=1) and p value Mantel Haenszel 0,971. There is no relation between  sanitation and microbiological quality of processed powdered drinks of inschool canteen (p=0,371) and outside canteen (p=1) and p value of Mantel Haenszel was 0,783.Conclusion : Most of the powder drink preparations were found to be positive Coliform and Escherichia coli, but a small percentage of processed powder drink contaminated with fungus

Abstract

Vector control of the Aedes aegypti mosquito in the pre-imago stage is strategy to reduce dengue infection. The aim of this study was to analyze the difference domestic sewage water pH to the hatchability of Ae. aegypti. This was an experimental study with a posttest only control group design. Independent variables  were domestic sewage water media with pH of 6.5, pH of 7.5, pH of 8.5, and pH of 9.5 and dependent variable was egg hatchability of Ae. aegypti. The results showed that the most average number of Ae. aegypti eggs hatched into larvae was at pH 7.5 with  40.68% and the lowest at pH 5,5 with 0%. The results of the Kruskal Wallis test showed that there were differences in the pH of domestic sewage water to the hatchability of eggs of Ae. aegypti (p = 0.001). The results of the Mann–Whitney U test showed that there was a significant difference between the number of egg hatched in the pH of domestic sewage water at pH of 5,5. Research proves that the eggs of Ae. aegypti is able to hatch in domestic liquid waste media with  pH range at pH of 6,5 – pH of 9,5. In the future Aedes aegypti mosquito control program is not only focus on clean water container water but also on the environment, especially drainage which has the potential to become a breeding place for Ae aegyptiKeyword : Hatchability, Ae. aegypti, Domestic Sewage Water

Abstract

Semarang city is one of the endemic areas of DHF disease in Central Java Province. Mijen District is the endemic area of DHF in Semarang City, with a spike in cases in 2020. One of the potential places of transmission of DHF is public places where people gather from various regions, so this place is at high risk of DHF transmission. The purpose of this study was to find out the density and potential place of the Aedes sp larvae. in public places Mijen District semarang city. The method used is observational analytics with cross sectional research design. The larva survey method uses the single larva method.  The sample of this study is 100 public places. The results of this study were mostly larvae found to be Aedes aegypti 30 (55.6%) and Aedes albopictus 24 (44.4%), the type of public places most larvae found was restaurant and bus station. Density of larvae Aedes sp. based on HI 54%, CI 26.47%, BI 63% so that density figure is in category 6-9 which means that the density of larvae is classified as high with a high risk of transmission of DHF disease caused by vectors. The larva-free index of 46% shows that it is still well below the national standard of ≥95%. The density of mosquito larvae should be controlled by conducting regular larval inspection by the janitor at the pulic places.
