Abstract

Community service activities can reduce disaster risk in Srengsem Village, Indonesia, which is prone to floods and landslides during the rainy season. A survey and analysis of the disaster conditions in Srengsem was conducted to develop structural and non-structural mitigation recommendations, which were then conveyed to affected residents and local regional leaders. Structural mitigation recommendations included, for example, reinforcing buildings and installing drainage systems. Non-structural mitigation focused on increasing community preparedness for disasters through activities such as landslide/flood surveys, outreach, coordination, presentations at community meetings, and distribution of posters and pocket books. These activities helped residents and sub-district officials who previously did not have an understanding of disasters and preparedness to become more knowledgeable and able to carry out mitigation actions independently at the community level.

Abstract

The West Lampung area is an area that is prone to landslides, this is due to the high intensity of rainfall and unstable soil structure. In 2022 and 2023, landslide disasters occurred in the West Lampung area which resulted in many losses, so it is necessary to carry out a landslide vulnerability analysis as an anticipatory measure for landslide control measures. By utilizing a geographic information system, geological data, slope, soil type, rainfall and land cover to display areas that are indicated to be prone to landslides. Based on the results of spatial analysis of each landslide-causing parameter, it produces 3 levels of landslide susceptibility classes, namely areas not prone to landslides (95.48 km2), areas prone to landslides (85.85 km2) and areas very prone to landslides (155.43 km2). In areas that are indicated to be vulnerable and very vulnerable, it is necessary to carry out mitigation on sloping areas and land use in these areas.

Abstract

Indonesian tourism has developed in various sectors and regions in Indonesia. Various types of tourism have been presented in modern, traditional and rural forms. One of them is related to the development of geotourism in Indonesia. Geotourism has benefits, namely the welfare of the people who live around it, encouraging local people to participate in maintaining and developing geotourism, realizing sustainable tourism development, giving a distinct impression and experience for every tourist who comes. Pandan Cave is one of the geosites in Giri Mulyo, East Lampung. The Pandan Cave area is included in the Sukadana Lava lithology unit (Qbs). Pandan Cave in geomorphological studies includes structural landforms formed as a result of endogenous processes, in the form of lifting, folding, and faulting. This endogenous force is constructive. Pandan Cave has geotourism potential because of its unique geology, the various rock forms that make up Pandan Cave and its morphology are interesting things for tourists to study geology. In addition, the location of Pandan Cave which is in the plantation of residents close to the village, makes this tourist attraction an interesting place to visit.

Abstract

Kerinci Regency is located on the western to the southwestern part of the capital city of Jambi Province, Indonesia. It has interesting geomorphological sites consisting of the physiography of the Barisan Mountain Zone associated with the Sumatran Fault System known as a volcanic-tectonic complex. Geomorphology has an important role in providing information of the landscape in an area. This paper aims to determine the geomorphological characteristics of the area which can provide information regarding disaster mitigation, the direction of land-use innovation, and infrastructure development strategies. This research uses analyses of morphographic, morphometric, morphogenetic, morphoconservation, and morphochronological aspects. Analysis of satellite images and topographic contours is a method used to determine the characteristics of drainage patterns and geological mapping. A significant result of this research is a geomorphological map of Kerinci that divides the area into several geomorphological units, namely volcanic-denudational, karst, structural, volcanic-structural, structural-denudational, and fluvial morphologies. Based on the geomorphological map, the area has a very high potential hazard consisting of volcanic structural landforms, which are Tanco Isolated Hill (TIH), Kerinci Fault Escarpment Undulation (KFEU), Kerinci Fault Escarpment Volcanic Undulation (KFEVU), structural landforms (Alang Structural Valley (ASV), Kumun Fault Hills (KFH), and Pengasih Fault Undulation (PGFU)). This map can be used to design the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for regional development in Kerinci.

Abstract

Bandar Lampung is a densely populated urban area consisting of land and water with several plateaus and mountains that stretch across this region. To support sustainable development in a city area, it is necessary to have a regional arrangement concept that considers all aspects, one of which is the potential disaster aspect. One of the potential disasters in Bandar Lampung, especially in Panjang District is a mass movement/landslide. Based on previous research, this area has been recorded as having several historical points of landslides, but there is no mitigation/response specifically for this type of disaster. The purpose of this study was to determine the arrangement of rocks that are in the landslide-prone zone in Panjang District using the geoelectric resistivity method and to analyze the soil engineering assessment obtained from the results of lithological analysis using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The results of the geoelectric analysis indicate that there are three lithological layers in the study area; namely tuff sediments with resistivity values and depths between (1–40 Ωm; 0.4–4 m), clay sand (40–120 Ωm; 2–4 m), and solid breccias with igneous rock components (>120 Ωm; 2–22 m). Furthermore, based on the results of the analysis of soil engineering assessments, tuff sediment as a surface layer that has experienced landslides has been identified as having susceptible lithological engineering properties because it has undergone quite intensive oxidation and weathering. The data obtained is expected to be used as supporting data for disaster potential-based regional planning.

Abstract

The construction of the National Capital City (IKN) is currently being carried out in East Kalimantan, resulting in increased demand for construction materials. Basalt is among the rocks that can be used as construction material in IKN. This rock has a high economic value due to its high demand but limited quantity. Basalt exploration around IKN is carried out to acquire rock resources and reduce construction costs due to its proximity to the site. This study aims to determine the distribution of basalt in the Kuaro area, East Kalimantan. The geology of the research area is composed of the Ultramafic Complex Formation, which comprises gabbro, basalt, serpentinite, and harzburgite. This research uses the Wenner-Alpha configuration geoelectric method to identify the distribution of basalt in the subsurface. Geoelectric measurements were carried out on six measurement lines, each line length of 470 m and electrode spacing of 10 m. The results of geoelectric data analysis show that the basalt has a specific resistivity value ranging from 200–4022 Ωm. Basalts were identified at depths of 10–75 m with 145 m, 325 m, 165 m and 183 m thicknesses in lines 1, 2, 5 and 6, respectively. The presence of basalt in lines 3 and 4 is at a depth of 10–75 m with an average thickness of 153 m and 125 m, respectively. Economically, basalt rocks in this area are classified as medium to highly recommendable for exploitation.

Abstract

The tsunami is a worrisome natural disaster typically in coastal areas, including Batu Balak Village in South Lampung. The Selat Sunda tsunami on December 22 2018 hit the Batu Balak Village residents and resulted in material and non-material losses. The unpreparedness of the residents who experienced this incident is a reminder of the urgency of the need to increase community preparedness in facing this threat. On this basis, service activities were carried out to strengthen mitigation and education on tsunami emergency response in Batu Balak Village, South Lampung. This service activity aims to strengthen the mitigation process and educate the community regarding the potential for a tsunami disaster in the Batu Balak area. Another purpose is to increase public knowledge of disaster management. The methods used in this service are needs analysis, solution design, program assistance, and implementation. Based on the problem analysis, we carried out a workshop event on tsunami disaster mitigation, how to increase the social economy by utilizing geotourism, and made a recommendation map for tsunami evacuation routes and zones. The workshop event was attended by several residents and community leaders. The results obtained from this activity are an increased understanding of the people who present regarding the tsunami disaster, what mitigation processes need to be implemented when a disaster occurs, and how to handle the loss after the disaster.
