Abstract

The lack of awareness of residents in Negeri Leahari to manage household waste and the non-functioning TPS3R (Reuse, Reduce and Recycle Waste Management Site) prompted the KKN team together with the PKM Unpatti Build Village team to offer a waste management program and protect the environment. The waste management program through environmental socialization activities and clean actions is carried out through several stages from location determination and review, preparation of work programs that include activities, waste education and its management, as well as environmental clean actions with the people of Negeri Leahari. The results of the work program include increasing knowledge about waste management and active participation of the local community in cleaning up the surrounding environment as a form of protecting the environment, starting from households to strategic locations in Leahari. In addition, this activity can help create a clean, comfortable, and healthy environment.

Abstract

The socialization of peaceful elections in Allang Asaude Village, West Seram Regency – Maluku Province, aims to create a common understanding among the community to become smart and responsible voters, as well as the importance of maintaining security and peace during the election process. This program is implemented to support peaceful elections, prevent potential conflicts and the spread of provocative information or hoaxes that can disrupt village social stability. It also provides education to novice voters regarding voting rights to choose leaders who serve the community, as well as avoid money politics. The socialization stage is divided into 3 parts, namely the preparation stage (coordination with village officials and the preparation of socialization materials), the implementation stage (material presentation), and the last stage (evaluation and documentation). The results of the activity showed an increase in public awareness of the importance of peaceful elections, a willingness to avoid provocative actions, and a joint commitment to maintaining a harmonious atmosphere during the elections. Through this socialization, it is hoped that Allang Asaude Village will be able to become an example of a village that prioritizes the principles of peaceful and democratic elections, as well as supporting the 2024 regional head elections later.

Abstract

Sago waste is a significant environmental problem in sago-producing areas, including Seruawan Village. This waste is often burned or simply dumped, which has the potential to cause environmental pollution and reduce soil quality. Therefore, the utilization of sago waste into biochar can be a sustainable and environmentally friendly solution. Biochar is a carbon product resulting from the pyrolysis process of organic matter, which can improve soil fertility and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By utilizing sago waste into biochar, the community in Seruawan Village can not only reduce waste, but also increase their agricultural productivity. The methodology used is through observation, interviews, technology utilization, and participatory action research. Through a systematic and participatory methodology, this service is expected to make a significant contribution to the management of sago waste into biochar, and improve the welfare of the community in Seruawan Village.

Abstract

Virgin coconut oil (VCO) is a form of processed coconut that is widely produced by people in Indonesia. VCO is often called pure coconut oil. VCO with good quality is by fermentation method using yeast. The quality of VCO can be measured by 3 types of analysis: water content, free fatty acids and peroxide number. The results of this analysis will be compared with the standards of the Asian and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC). VCO from fermentation method will be combined with the absorption method using nutmeg shell activated charcoal to see if there is a much better quality improvement. The results showed that there was a significant increase in quality with a decrease in the average water content from 0,1665% to 0,1005%. In addition, there was a significant decrease in the average free fatty acid content from 0,4681% to 0,3790% and significant decrease in average peroxide number from 0,1991 meq/kg to 0,0997 meq/kg. The results of the research on three VCO quality standards showed a value that was in accordance with the APCC standard.

Abstract

Southeast Maluku area, seaweed is the livelihood of the community. However, in its cultivation there are some common obstacles that are often experienced. One of them is ice-ice disease caused by the presence of bacteria such as Aeromonas hydrophilla. Therefore, prevention that can be used as a solution is antibacterial. One of the natural ingredients that can be used as an antibacterial is seaweed, because it contains compounds that can inhibit bacterial growth. In general, the most common bioactive compounds found are flavonoids, phenols, and tannins. In addition to seaweed, mangrove plants also have compounds that can be antibacterial. The extract method used in this study is a simple extraction method that uses only one type of solvent, namely distilled water. And a comparison of concentrations between 100%, 80%, 60% and 40% was carried out. Then the inhibition zone test was carried out using the paper disc diffusion method, where the disc paper was dipped into each extract with different concentrations and placed in a petri dish that had been overgrown with bacteria. Measurement of the inhibition zone formed was carried out after the plates were incubated for 24 hours at 37oC. The measurement results show that both aquades extracts have medium to strong inhibitory power. The conclusion of this research is that aquades extract of seaweed and mangrove leaves has inhibitory power against Aeromonas hydrophilla bacteria.
