Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of characteristics of cervical mucus before artificial insemination (AI) as conception rate (CR). The study materials were 112 composite cattle in estrus. Fifty five composite heifers and 57 composite cows. Samples of cervical mucus were examined for amount and consistency. The amount of the cervical mucus was studied based on its much, little and nothing of secretion the cervical mucus while the consistency was based on the thinness and thickness of the cervical mucus. The measurement of vaginal temperature was conducted by digital thermometer. The pregnancy diagnosis was performed at the 60th days post insemination. Data was analyzed by descriptive and Chi-square. Findings showed that the conception rates of composite cattle with thin, thick, and nothing secretion of cervical mucus were 66.67%, 68.00%, 35.71% on composite cows and 37.03%, 50.00%, 37.50% on composite heifers. The vaginal temperature with thin, thick, and nothing secretion of cervical mucus were 38.7±1.0 oC, 38.9±0.7 oC, 38.6±0.5 oC. It was concluded that characteristics of servical mucus before artificial insemination (AI) gave effect to conception rate. It was suggested that optimum time to artificial insemination (AI) of composite cattle was on thick and thin secretion of servical mucus. Keywords: Cervical mucus, vaginal temperature, artificial insemination (AI), composite cattle, conception rate (CR).

Abstract

             Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan filtrat kecambah kacang hijau dalam pengencer susu skim terhadap kualitas spermetozoa pejantan sapi Madura pada penyimpanan suhu ruang. Materi dalam penelitian ini adalah semen segar sapi Madura berusia 6-11 tahun dengan persentase motilitas 50-65% diambil dari Balai Besar Inseminasi Buatan Singosari, Malang. Metode yang digunakann dalam penelitian ini adalah percobaan di laboratorium dengan rancangan acak kelompok yang terdiri dari empat level penambahan filtrat kecambah kacang hijau yaitu 0%, 2%, 4%, dan 6% dari jumlah 1ml pengencer susu skim dengan masing-masing 7 pengulangan dan disimpan pada suhu kamar selama 6 jam, setiap 2 jam dilakuakan evaluasi kualitas semen cair yaitu motilitas, viabilitas dan abnormalitas spermatozoa.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh level penambahan filtrat kecambah kacang hijau dalam pengencer susu skim pada penyimpanan suhu ruang tidak memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan (P> 0,05) padamotilitas, viabilitas, dan abnormalitas spermatozoa. Kata kunci: semen cair, susu skim, filtrat kecambah kacang hijau, penyimpanan suhu ruang

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan Body Condition Score dengan service per conception dan Calving Interval sapi Peranakan Ongole. Materi yang digunakan adalah 100 ekor sapi betina Peranakan Ongole. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi kasus, pengumpulan data dilakukan primer dan sekunder. Variabel yang diamati adalah Body condition Score (BCS), Service per conception (S/C), Calving interval (CI). Hasil penelitian menunjukan persamaan regresi hubungan  BCS dengan S/C Y=0,88+0,06X.  (R2) 1,6%. (r) 0,12. Nilai persamaan regresi BCS dengan CI Y=408,24+1,06X. (R2) 0,8%. (r) sebesar 0,08. Disimpulkan bahwa Hubungan BCS dengan S/C positif dengan Nilai R2= 1,6% dan BCS dengan CI positif dengan Nilai R2 0,8%. Kata Kunci : Sapi peranakan ongole, regresi, Body condition score (BCS) dan korelasi

Abstract

The objective of this research was to examine the effect of glycerol addition in different percentage to quality of swim up spermatozoa from Etawah Grade buck that frozen with vitrification method. This research was carried out at Frozen Semen Laboratory, Sumbersekar, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Brawijaya University from February 2016 to March 2016. This research design was experimental laboratory using completely randomized design and the data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) one way pattern, followed by the multiple test Duncan. There were four treatments in this research (P0= Tris-Yolk + 0% Glycerol, P1= Tris-Yolk + 7% Glycerol, P2= Tris-Yolk + 14% Glycerol, P3= Tris – Yolk + 21% Glycerol). Each treatment consisted of ten replications. The results showed that addition of glycerol was significantly different (P<0,01) on the percentage of post thawing motility, viability, and total spermatozoa motility. It was concluded that addition of glycerol 7% gave the best result on spermatozoa quality. Keywords : swim up, glycerol, frozen semen, vitrification, post thawing motility

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kecukupan nilai nutrisi untuk induk sapi potong di Desa Leran Wetan dan Leran Kulon, Kecamatan Palang, Kabupaten Tuban. Data diambil dengan metode survei menggunakan kuisioner kepada 15 responden di masing-masing desa. Sampel pakan diambil di masing-masing peternak responden kemudian dianalisis proksimat dan dilanjutkan uji kecernaan BK dan BO secara in vitro di Laboratorium Nutrisi dan Makanan Ternak, Fakultas Peternakan, Universitas Brawijaya.  Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil survei menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kepemilikan induk sapi potong di masing-masing desa antara 2-3 ekor, bobot badan 300-350 kg/ekor, dengan tujuan pemeliharaan untuk menghasilkan pedet. Jenis pakan yang sering diberikan bervariasi meliputi rumput gajah, rumput lapang, limbah pertanian seperti jerami padi dan jerami jagung serta dedak padi sebagai pakan tambahan. Konsumsi BK pakan di Desa Leran Wetan rata-rata adalah 5,853 ± 1,663 kg/ekor/hari dan di Desa Leran Kulon adalah 5,943 ± 1,325 kg/ekor/hari sedangkan kebutuhan berdasarkan bobot badannya adalah 7,4 – 8,3 kg/ekor/hari. Ransum dengan pakan basal limbah pertanian di Desa Leran Kulon memiliki KcBK sebesar 27,844 ± 0,679% sedangkan ransum dengan pakan basal rumput memiliki nilai KcBK lebih tinggi yaitu 44,919 ± 1,800%. Nilai KcBK Ransum berbasis jerami di Desa Leran Wetan adalah 27,918 ± 0,692% dan yang berbasis rumput adalah sebesar 44,434 ± 2,026%. Nilai KcBO di Desa Leran Kulon pada ransum berbasis jerami dan rumput berturut-turut adalah 30,234 ± 46,412% dan 46,412 ± 1,778% sedangkan di Desa Leran Wetan berturut-turut adalah 33,689 ± 1,081% dan 52,989 ± 3,139%. Berdasarkan hasil studi tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pakan yang dikonsumsi oleh ternak masih belum memenuhi kebutuhannya. Penggunaan limbah pertanian dapat menurunkan nilai kecernaan ransum maka sebaiknya diganti dengan hijauan seperti leguminosa dan rumput. Pakan dengan kualitas yang baik akan meningkatkan performa reproduksi induk sapi potong.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Antibody against progesgerone was produced from serum of local rabbit following low dose of progesterone injection: While a control group (Control; n=5) was injected with Freund's adjuvant solution in aquadest, the treatment groups were either firstly injected with progesterone conjugated to Freund's Adjuvant (P--CFA, 150 p.l : 150 pl) or progesterone conjugated to Freund's Adjuvant and bovine serum albumin (P-CFA-BSA; 135 p;l : 150 tt1 : 15 gl). Twice boostering injections were adminstered using incomplete Freund's Adjuvant on day 14 and 52 after first immunization. Weekly bleeding for serum collection were done from 1 week following first booster immunization to week 10, Using ELISA technique it was shown that the antibody titer to progesterone after first and second booster immunization in the P-CFA groug was higher than Control- and P-CFA-BSA groups. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui periode pemaparan yang tepat dalam proses vitrifikasi terhadap morfotogi dan viabiliitas oosit sapi. Larutan vitrifikasi terdiri dari krioprotektan intraseluler etilen glikol (EG) 20%, 37%, 40%, 50% dan masing-masing konsentrasi ditambah 0,5 M sukrosa sebagai krioprotektan ekstraseluler dengan lama paparan 1 menit, 3 menit dan 5 menit. Data dianalisisdengan analisa petak terbagi dalam waktu (split plot in time). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa kosentrasi krioprotektan dan periode pemaparan tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap struktur morfologi oosit sapi (P>0,05), akan tetapi dari analisis data viabilitas didapatkan perbedaan yang nyata pada konsentrasi EG 20% dan 30% (P<0,05). Selain itu terdapat pula interaksi yang nyata antara konsentrasi dengan periode pemaparan (p<0,05). Hasil uji BNT(5%) menunjukkan tingkat viabilitas tertinggi diperoleh pada EG 30% dengan pemaparan 1 menit dan konsentrasi 20% dengan pemaparan 3 menit

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effect of soybean extract (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) supplementation on tris aminomethane egg yolk extender to the post thawing quality of Simmental bull frozen semen. The fresh semen was collected from 3 Simmental bulls aged at 3 to 3.5 years for twice a week by using artificial vagina. The semen was then selected for sperm motility and abnormality, and the semen that had >70% motility and <15% abnormality was used for the research. The research was conducted in a completely randomized with 4 treatments and 30 replications. The research treatments include 0% (T0), 7.5% (T1), 10% (T2), and 12.5% (T3) soybean extract supplementation on tris aminomethane egg yolk extender. The observed variables include spermatozoa motility, viability, abnormality, and plasm membrane integrity. The collected data were analysed with ANOVA and followed with Duncan’s Multiple Range Test to determine significant differences. The results showed that soybean extract supplementation gave significant effect (P<0.05) to the post thawed quality of Simmental semen. The research concludes that 10% (v/v) soybean  supplementation on tris aminomethane egg-yolk extender was effective to maintain sperm motility, viability, and plasma membrane integrity of post thawed Simmental semen.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the effect of the simple modified freezing method, 1°C/minute freezing rate with different diluter ration on a post-thawing quality of local goat sperm namely Peranakan Etawah (PE). This work is aimed to study the quality of post-thawing sperm and to characterize the calcium intensity profile of both fresh and post thawing goat sperm. The method used is the experimental design of a laboratory. Freezing semen was performed in 2 main temperatures of -45°C then -196°C respectively using Mr. Frosty (®) System. Early Sperm characters of Ca+2 intensity was performed by Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM) through Fluo-3 staining and Ca++ intensity was analysis descriptively. The result showed that post-thawing qualities are considered as good as standard qualities, at least, more than 40% based on Indonesian National Standard (SNI, 2014). The different level diluents commercial of Andromeda used were influenced highly significant (P<0.01). The best diluents ration is 1:4 (v/v) for final sperms stocked at -196°C. However freezing sperm conserved in -196°C is better than in -45°C. Meanwhile, the sperm characters of two condition showed the important variation of Ca+2 intensity, with the length of region measurement of 39.06±4.595 and 32.696±9.011 µm each.  It was concluded that the calcium intensity pattern was varied more and higher in fresh sperm than in freezing sperms. This simple modified method of a freezing system was considered as a feasible alternative method for goat semen in a reason for both for sperm post-thawing quality and practical purposes.

Abstract

abstrak Suatu penelitian untuk mengevaluasi penampilan reproduksi yang diukur berdasarkan indeks fertilitas pada sapi potong telah dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Dalam penelitian ini digunakan sampel pemilik sapi yang diambil secara acak dari 11 kelompok peternak yang terdapat di wilayah kerja inseminator di Kecamatan Tambakrejo, Kabupaten Bojonegoro. Variabel yang diukur meliputi Days open (DO), Service per Conception (S/C), Calving Interval (CI), Conception Rate (CR) dan indeks fertilitas (IF). Hasil penetlitian menunjukkan bahwa IF sapi Peranakan Ongole, Limosin dan Simental masing-masing pada paritas 2 dan 3 adalah 47.5 dan 50.6. Disimpulkan bahwa indeks fertilitas masing-masing bangsa sapi maupun paritas tidak menunjukkan perbedaan. Kata kunci: indeks fertilitas, paritas dan sapi potong   REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF BEEF CATTLE IN BOJONEGORO REGENCY ABSTRACT The research for evaluation reproductive performance measured by fertility index of beef cattle has carried out at Bojonegoro regency. The materials used in this study is to beef cattle (Ongole, Limousin and Simental filial), used the gathering of secondary data from 11 farmer group in Tambakrejo district, Bojonegoro regency. The observed variables are Service per conception (S / C), Days open (DO), Calving interval (CI), Conception rate (CR) and Fertility index. The experiment showed that  fertility index for Ongole, Limosin and Simental filial in second and thirh parity is 47.5 and 50.6 respectively.  It was concluded  that there was  not  difference of fertility index between Ongole,  Limousin and Simental filial on 2nd and 3th parity.
