Abstract

The learning process that is carried out optimally is a learning process that involves students actively. One of the learning approaches that can actively involve students is the contextual approach or Contextual Teaching & Learning (CTL). This qualitative research aims to determine students' activities during the implementation of CTL principles with GeoGebra assisted in a cartesius coordinate system at SMP Negeri 9 Palembang. The subjects were four students of VIII.3 SMP Negeri 9 Palembang. Data was collected online using observation sheets, questionnaires, interviews, & analyzed descriptively. From this research, it is concluded that the principles of CTL that appear in GeoGebra-assisted mathematics learning were constructivism, inquiry, modeling, authentic assessment, & learning community. Then the CTL principles that rarely appear during learning were questioning, & reflection.

Abstract

Mathematical thinking involves how individuals present, understand, and critically examine mathematical truths, considering how their relation to representation or imagination. However, students often exhibit low mathematical thinking skills. Previous research shows that digital worksheets based on creative problem-solving can foster these skills, yet the relationship between mathematical thinking and learning styles remains unexplored. This study aims to develop innovative digital worksheets based on creative problem solving, categorized as valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' mathematical thinking with audio-visual learning styles. The study employs a development method comprising two main stages: a preliminary study (analysis and design) and a formative study (evaluation and revision). Data collection instruments include tests, observations, validation sheets, questionnaires, and interviews. The analysis integrates both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The study involved 15 audio-visual learners from 24 eighth-grade students at SMP Srijaya Negara Palembang. The results indicate that students excel in specializing and identifying problems based on given information. Their generalizing skills, including finding patterns and relationships are strong. However, their conjecturing and convincing skills require improvement, particularly in making connections and reasoning. The digital worksheets were deemed 93% valid and practical, significantly enhancing students' mathematical thinking, particularly for those with an audio-visual learning style. While students demonstrated excellent skills in specialization and good skills in generalization, there is still a need for improvement in conjecturing and convincing due to errors in mathematical reasoning.

Abstract

The research is aims to describe the level of a student's academic proficiency in mathematics learning cooperative model of reciprocal teaching. Subjects in this study were students VIII.5 SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya totaling 36 people. Data collected through observation and tests. Based on the analysis of observational data show the average score of their academic ability of students is 85.26 and classified in the high category. The average score of student learning outcomes is 83.01 and classified in the high category. In connection with these conclusions, the math teachers should be able to apply reciprocal teaching models in order to train the student's academic skills.

Abstract

National Council of Teacher of Mathematics (NCTM) stated five basic mathematics skills: problem solving, proof and reasoning, communication, connections, and representation. In an effort to explore and develop students' mathematical communication ability, mathematical modelling approach was used in mathematics learning of VIII-grade SMP Negeri 13 (state Junior High School) Palembang. This research is a development research aims to develop student worksheet based on mathematical modelling approach. Document analysis shows that the worksheet is valid and practical. Test data shows potential effect with some categories of students’ mathematical connections ability: 66.67% “good”, 21.21% categorized as "enough", 12.12% were categorized “low”. Data test shows the most frequent indicator is the first indicator: recognize and use the relationships between ideas in mathematics. While the indicator: to recognize and apply mathematics in other topics or daily life is less frequent.

Abstract

This research aimed to get an overview of the students’ learning result in polyhedral subject through a scientific approach of VIII.11 students in SMP 9 Palembang. Scientific approach is an approach in which students were invited to perform the process of searching the knowledge, to find their own facts, to construct the knowledge, the concepts, and the new values which are necessary for life. This research was descriptive. The results showed that the learning activities using a scientific approach to the polyhedral subject categorized into good with a percentage of 77,46% and the learning result for students’ attitude mastery achieved 70,37%, the learning result for the students’ performance skills mastery achieved 77,78%, and the results of learning for the students’ knowledge mastery achieved 92,59% of 27 students. It can be concluded that the results of learning by using a scientific approach was categorized into good category in learning in terms of the students’ attitudes, skills and knowledge mastery. Abstract

Penggunaan teknologi seperti symbolab dalam proses pembelajaran sejalan dengan perkembangan era digital. Symbolab sebagai salah satu aplikasi yang menyediakan solusi matematika yang membantu siswa memahami langkah-langkah penyelesaian SPLTV secara bertahap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penggunaan aplikasi symbolab dalam membantu siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Indralaya Utara menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan melalui tes tertulis berupa 2 soal uraian yang dirancang untuk mengukur kelancaran prosedural matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah mengenai SPLTV dengan bantuan aplikasi symbolab. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata kelancaran prosedural siswa memiliki kategori sedang dengan persentase sebanyak 46,7%. Hasil tes kelancaran prosedural siswa terbagi menjadi 3 kategori yaitu 16,7% berkategori tinggi dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 5 orang, 46,7% berkategori sedang dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 14 orang, dan 36,7% berkategori rendah dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 11 orang. Dengan demikian, aplikasi symbolab efektif dalam meningkatkan kelancaran prosedural matematis siswa sehingga memudahkan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah SPLTV.

Abstract

Kemampuan representasi matematis merupakan aspek penting dalam pembelajaran matematika karena memungkinkan peserta didik untuk memahami konsep dan mengomunikasikan ide matematis secara efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan representasi peserta didik dengan berbantuan Desmos Graphing Calculator. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian merupakan peserta didik SMP Kelas VIII. Subjek terdiri dari 3 orang dengan 1 orang berkemampuan tinggi, 1 orang berkemampuan sedang, dan 1 orang berkemampuan rendah yang dilihat melalui hasil tes yang telah dilakukan peserta didik. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan representasi matematis yang mencakup aspek visual, simbolik, dan verbal dan setelah itu dilakukan wawancara. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa rata rata kemampuan representasi matematis peserta didik tergolong sedang dengan 10 peserta didik berkategori kemampuan representasi tinggi, 11 peserta didik berkategori kemampuan representasi sedang, dan terdapat 8 orang peserta didik berkategori kemampuan representasi rendah. Desmos Graphing Calculator membantu peserta didik dalam menggambarkan dan menginterpretasikan grafik persamaan garis lurus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran operasi bilangan melalui permainan tepuk bergambar pada siswa tunagrahita ringan di YPAC Palembang. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII YPAC Palembang yang berjumlah 4 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah rekaman video dan observasi. Rekaman video dilakukan untuk mengamati kegiatan siswa selama proses pembelajaran dan membandingkannya dengan lembar observasi. Selama proses pembelajaran operasi bilangan melalui permainan tepuk bergambar, guru membantu siswa tunagrahita ringan menterjemahkan peristiwa penjumlahan berulang sebagai operasi perkalian. Sehingga, pada akhir pembelajaran, siswa bisa mengerjakan soal-soal yang diberikan. This qualitative descriptive research aims at describing the operation of number learning through picture clapping conducted to students with light mental retardation at Institute for physically and mentally handicapped children in Palembang. This study involves four students at the eighth grade as the subjects. Video recording and observation are undertaken to collect the data. The students' learning process will be recorded in video and later compared to the results of the observation. During the learning process using the selected strategy, teachers' role is as the facilitator to help the pupils translating the repeated adding question to be the multiplying operation. Thus, in the end of the class, students are able to do the exercises given.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan representasi matematis siswa pada materi Persamaan Linier Satu Variabel (PLSV) setelah diterapkan model Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan analisis data secara kuantitatif dan kualitatif sesuai dengan indikator representasi matematis. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 6 Indralaya Utara di kelas VII.1 dengan melibatkan sebanyak 16 siswa sebagai subjeknya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan tes tertulis berupa soal uraian dan hasil wawancara dengan siswa. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi memeriksa tes uraian merujuk pada indikator representasi matematis yaitu visual, simbolik dan verbal. Data yang telah terkumpul kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan pedoman penskoran yang merujuk pada indikator representasi matematis. Hasil analisis data selanjutnya dikelompokkan menjadi tiga kategori yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data didapatkan bahwa kemampuan representasi matematis siswa pada materi persamaan linier satu variabel setelah diterapkannya model CPS berada dikategori sedang dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 59,687 dan skor rata-rata untuk indikator representasi visual yaitu sebesar 71,093, representasi simbolik 60,156, dan verbal 35,937. This study aimed to look at and describe students' mathematical representation abilities in the One Variable Linear Equation (PLSV) material after applying the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model. The research method used was descriptive with quantitative and qualitative data analysis according to the indicators of mathematical representation. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Indralaya Utara in class VII.1 involving 16 students as participants. Data collection was carried out by giving written tests in the form of description questions and the results of interviews with students. The data analysis technique used included examining the description test referring to indicators of mathematical representation, namely visual, symbolic and verbal. The data were then analyzed based on scoring guidelines that refer to indicators of mathematical representation. The results of the data analysis were later categorized into three categories, namely high, medium, and low. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that students' mathematical representation abilities in the material of one-variable linear equations after the implementation of the CPS model were in the moderate category with an average score of 59.687 and an average score for visual representation indicators that was 71.093, symbolic representation 60.156, and verbal 35.937.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to describe the results of designing number pattern questions used to measure the mathematical thinking abilities of students with a kinesthetic learning style. The research subjects consisted of 5 class VIII students with a kinesthetic learning style. The type of research is design research with 5 stages, namely: Preliminary Design, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), Trial, Interview, and Retrospective Analysis. The data collection techniques are learning style questionnaires, tests and interviews. The data analysis used in the research is qualitative. Based on the results of the FGD, number pattern questions can be used to measure mathematical thinking abilities, because each question leads students to bring up specializing, generalizing, conjecturing and convincing aspects. Based on the test results, it is known that students can write specializing, generalizing, conjecturing, and convincing forms. Specializing is seen when students write the form of adding numbers for each term. Generalizing is seen when students find patterns by listing them one by one or using tables, conjecturing when they find the general formula, and convincing is seen when they find other ways to prove the answer. Based on the results of the interview, students' answers were obtained through the activity of managing and simulating questions using body parts.
