Abstract

Clean water pollution at PT X is caused by manganese levels that exceed the safe limit, reaching 2.01 mg/L, which has the potential to endanger the health of employees. This research aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of active sand filter media thickness in reducing manganese levels in clean water at PT X. This research was an experiment with a post-test with a control group design. This type of experiment involves testing certain treatments, with three variations in the thickness of the active sand filter media (60cm,80cm, and 100cm), as well as six repetitions for each treatment. Active sand is prepared by washing, drying, and heating at a temperature of 700-750°C for 2 hours. After use, the sand media is cleaned via backwash to maintain optimal performance during testing. The examination results using the spectrophotometer method showed that a thickness of 100cm was the most effective, reducing manganese levels by up to 97.67%, followed by a thickness of 80cm by 86.19%, and thickness of 60cm with a reduction of 47.97%. The ANOVA test indicated a significant difference in the reduction of manganese levels between the control and treatment groups, with a thickness of 100 cm giving significant results (F=22.054, p=0.003) and a thickness of 60 cm showing the highest F-value (F=481.201). The filter media thickness plays an important role in the effectiveness of manganese reduction, with a thickness of 100 cm proving optimal. It is recommended to use a thickness of 100 cm to ensure clean water quality at PT X.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of board size, managerial ownership, ownership concentration, firm age, leverage, and firm size on financial performance, measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The research utilizes data from banking sub-industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2019–2024, with 110 samples obtained through purposive sampling techniques. The study employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis with Eviews. The findings reveal that board size negatively affects financial performance, while managerial ownership, ownership concentration, company size, leverage, and company age positively influence financial performance. These results suggest that management should focus on factors that enhance financial performance to improve company profitability, while investors can use these insights to identify promising companies for investment. Future research is encouraged to incorporate corporate governance variables, such as audit committee size, and to expand the scope to other sectors and longer study periods.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the construction of online media discourse in the "Vina Cirebon" case through the integration of Foucauldian discourse analysis and Islamic legal perspectives to understand the dynamics of power, knowledge, and justice in media narratives. Using a qualitative approach with case study design, this research analyzes six Kompas.com news articles from January-June 2024 selected purposively. The analytical method includes critical discourse analysis based on Foucault's model examining knowledge systems, power-knowledge relations, regimes of truth, and subject construction, which is then evaluated using Islamic legal perspectives on principles of justice (al-’adl), transparency (al-wuduh), and protection of human dignity (karamah al-insan). Research findings reveal that media operates as a discursive apparatus legitimizing institutional dominance of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) in controlling information production and distribution, where "truth" is constructed through discursive practices that marginalize alternative perspectives. Islamic legal evaluation shows misalignment between media practices and Islamic justice principles, particularly in transparency and protection of individual dignity. This research produces the innovative concept of "discursive justice" that demands media practices to be not only procedurally fair but also substantively protective of human rights. The findings indicate the need for transformation of the media ecosystem towards more responsible and ethical practices in the context of justice.

Abstract

The high demand for labor in the industrial sector and the open unemployment rate in Indonesia, which reaches 5.32% of the total workforce, indicate that the quality of Indonesian Human Resources is still relatively low and requires serious attention. To address these issues, the Directorate of Vocational School Development encourages the implementation of the teaching factory program as an innovative strategy to enhance students' competencies to better align with the dynamic and competitive demands of the industrial world. This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the teaching factory program in the competencies of Interior Design and Furniture Engineering at Vocational School 52 Jakarta using the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product). This research uses a mixed-methods approach with an evaluative method. Data collection was carried out using questionnaire instruments, in-depth interviews, direct field observations, and relevant documentation studies. All the data obtained were analyzed descriptively and narratively to gain a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the program's implementation. The evaluation results show that in all aspects of the evaluation, most indicators have met the established criteria. However, several improvements are still needed, such as involving education experts in the preparation of curriculum documents, refining learning documents like MoUs and jobsheets, and enhancing job placement and continuous development for graduates. This recommendation is expected to serve as a basis for policy-making to optimize the implementation of the teaching factory so that it can produce graduates who are truly job-ready and adaptable to changes in the industrial world.
