Abstract

Understanding concepts is very important in learning mathematics because the material in mathematics learning is interconnected between one material and another. To provide understanding of concepts, student-centered learning is needed. One student-centered learning model is the quantum learning model assisted by geogebra to visualize the material provided with the aim of supporting students' understanding of concepts. The aim of this research is to describe students' ability to understand mathematical concepts after applying the geogebra-assisted quantum learning model to cube and block material. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with a posttest only research design. The subjects in this research were students in class VIII.3 of SMP Ikhlasiyah Palembang. Data collection techniques use tests of ability to understand mathematical concepts and observation of teacher and student activities to see the application of the quantum learning model. The test results show that students' ability to understand mathematical concepts is in the good category with an average score of 80.02 which is measured based on indicators of understanding mathematical concepts and from observing teacher and student activities with an average teacher activity score of 93.05%. and 94.38% of student activity shows that the application of the quantum learning model is implemented very well in the learning process.

Abstract

Enhancing creative thinking skills (CTSs) is a critical competency for pre-service mathematics teachers, especially in responding to the demands of 21st-century learning. This study aims to develop a pocketbook based on mind mapping and supported by Augmented Reality (AR), integrated within a Project-Based Learning (PjBL) framework, to support creative thinking skills. The development process adopted the Plomp model, consisting of preliminary investigation, design, realization, testing, evaluation, revision, and implementation phases. The resulting instructional pocketbook focuses on secondary school mathematics content and includes a series of questions enhanced with AR features to support CTSs. The findings demonstrate that the developed mind mapping based pocketbook with AR effectively improves students' ability to think creatively and solve complex mathematical problems. This research contributes to the field of mathematics education by offering an innovative tool that combines visual mapping strategies, immersive technology, and active learning to better prepare future mathematics educators.

Abstract

Mathematics is a fundamental subject for junior high school students, yet numeracy achievement in Indonesia, including in Simbur Naik Village, remains low. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ conceptual understanding and learning motivation through the implementation of the MathVerse application, which integrates Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence. The program involved 53 students and 6 mathematics teachers, carried out in three sessions consisting of socialization, training, and classroom implementation. The results indicated a significant improvement in cognitive achievement. The average test score increased from 49.15 to 70.67, while mastery rose from 33% to 70%. In terms of motivation, there was an increase in the indicators of effort and perceived relevance of mathematics, although interest and self-efficacy slightly declined. Student responses were highly positive, with the highest scores on the indicators of understanding and learning (82.94%) and application navigation (93.52%). Teachers also expressed consistently positive responses, with the highest rating on interest and adoption (90.63%). Documentation highlighted students’ enthusiasm in using AR and AI features, as well as teachers’ active role in facilitating the process. This activity demonstrates that MathVerse not only significantly enhances students’ conceptual understanding of mathematics but also fosters learning interest and strengthens teachers’ roles in integrating educational technology. The novelty of this program lies in the direct application of AR- and AI-based learning tools in rural schools, which are rarely reached by digital innovations. Therefore, this activity provides tangible benefits for the local education community and contributes theoretically to the effectiveness of multimedia learning and technology acceptance in mathematics education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan modul pembelajaran matematika berbasis Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) dengan mengintegrasikan unsur budaya lokal Jambi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode design research tipe development study yang terdiri atas tiga tahap, yaitu preliminary, prototyping (meliputi self-evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, dan field test), serta assessment phase. Subjek penelitian melibatkan dua dosen ahli, seorang guru matematika, dan siswa kelas IX SMP Negeri 12 Kota Jambi. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket validasi, angket kepraktisan, tes kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul berbasis CRT memiliki tingkat kevalidan yang sangat baik dengan skor validasi materi sebesar 77,61% dan validasi desain sebesar 80,86%, serta dinilai sangat praktis dengan persentase kepraktisan 84,70% dari guru dan 79,99% dari siswa. Selain itu, modul ini terbukti efektif meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan rata-rata nilai pre-test sebesar 26,44% menjadi post-test sebesar 80,53%. Dengan demikian, modul berbasis CRT layak digunakan sebagai bahan ajar alternatif yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis melalui pembelajaran matematika yang kontekstual dan berlandaskan budaya lokal.

Abstract

Learning geometric transformations often presents challenges for students due to their abstract nature and limited connection to real-world contexts. Reflection is one of the most difficult concepts for students to understand. This study aims to design a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) for geometric reflection using the PMRI approach through the context of Batik Jambi. This research employed a design research approach in the preliminary design phase, with data co llected through teacher interviews and literature studies. The result is a five-stage HLT design that utilizes the Bungo Melati motif as a symmetry context, guiding students from concrete experiences toward formal understanding through progressive mathematization. The findings indicate that incorporating the Batik Jambi context can enhance students’ comprehension of reflection while also connecting mathematics learning with local cultural values. This HLT design has the potential to serve as a foundation for developing a Local Instructional Theory (LIT) for more meaningful and contextualized geometry learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan media pembelajaran berupa e-modul yang disajikan dalam bentuk flipbook berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan augmented reality pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar dan terintegreasi dengan wesbite/aplikasi seperti nearpod, assemblr edu dan youtube serta disajikan online kepada peserta didik melalui tautan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yakni Design Research tipe Development Studies melalui tahap preliminary dan tahap prototyping menggunakan alur formative evaluation, serta assessment phase. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas IX SMP Negeri 22 Kota Jambi. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui hasil angket validitas, praktikalitas, dan efektifitas. Hasil peneilitian yang didapatkan menunjukkan e-modul dinyatakan sangat valid berdasarkan hasil validasi tim ahli dengan presentase sebesar 88,57% untuk aspek materi, dan 89% untuk aspek desain. Selain itu tingkat kepraktisan e-modul dinilai cukup praktis oleh guru dengan presentase 80%, dan oleh siswa sebesar 85,56% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Selanjutnya tingkat keefektifan e-modul didapatkan hasil angket efektifitas sebesar 90,15%. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul yang telah dikembangkan terbukti efektif digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran khususnya pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menggambarkan bagaimana kemampuan literasi matematika siswa ketika mengerjakan soal PISA pada konten space and shape yang disajikan melalui konteks permainan Jenga dan kolam bola. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif terhadap 31 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 12 Kota Jambi. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis dan wawancara, kemudian dianalisis berdasarkan tiga aspek literasi matematika, yaitu merumuskan masalah, menggunakan konsep dan langkah matematika, serta menafsirkan dan mengevaluasi hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa masih memiliki kemampuan literasi matematika yang rendah. Sebanyak 51,61% siswa berada pada kategori rendah, 29,03% berada pada kategori sedang, dan hanya 19,35% berada pada kategori tinggi. Pada tahap merumuskan masalah, banyak siswa kesulitan mengubah informasi pada gambar menjadi model matematika. Pada tahap penggunaan konsep, beberapa siswa masih salah memilih rumus atau membuat kesalahan hitung. Pada tahap penafsiran hasil, sebagian besar siswa belum memeriksa apakah jawaban mereka sesuai dengan konteks soal. Temuan ini menunjukkan perlunya lebih banyak latihan soal berkarakteristik PISA untuk membantu siswa memahami konteks, menerapkan konsep, dan mengevaluasi hasil perhitungan secara lebih baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa e-modul berbasis problem based learning berbantuan augmented reality pada materi teorema pyhtagoras. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian penggembangan dengan menggunakan prosedur model tessmer. Penggunaan angket validitas, praktikalitas dan efektifitas sebagai sumber data dalam penelitian ini. penelitian ini melibatkan 34 siswa kelas VIII C di SMP Negeri 22 Kota Jambi. Penggunaan e-modul dalam pembelajaran dinyatakan berkategori sangat valid berdasarkan hasil penilaian tim ahli materi dan desain dengan perolehan persentase (89,18%, dan 89%), sedangkan e-modul dinyatakan berkategori sangat praktis oleh guru dan siswa dengan perolehan persentase (96,25% dan %), sedangkan e-modul dinyatakan sangat efektif dengan memperolehan persentase (88,31%). Dengan e-modul dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran. Diharapkan dengan adanya penelitian menjadi rekomendasi untuk peneliti selanjutnya untuk mengembangkan e-modul lebih kreatif dan inovatif yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar metematikan dengan menerapkan model, metode dan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan e-modul berbasis Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) yang dilengkapi fitur Augmented Reality (AR) pada materi bangun ruang sisi datar khususnya kubus. Metode yang digunakan yaitu model pengembangan ADDIE dengan instrumen berupa angket validitas, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 31 siswa kelas IX MTs Negeri 1 Kota Prabumulih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul yang dikembangkan termasuk kategori sangat valid berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi dan desain. Dari sisi kepraktisan, guru dan siswa memberikan penilaian sangat tinggi sebesar 86,66%, dan tingkat efektivitas mencapai 89,72% sehingga dikategorikan sangat efektif. Dengan demikian, e-modul yang dikembangkan layak, praktis, dan efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika. Temuan penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan bagi penelitian selanjutnya dalam mengembangkan e-modul yang lebih inovatif untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika. Penelitian ini memiliki kebaruan karena mengintegrasikan pendekatan STEM dan teknologi AR secara khusus pada materi kubus, yang belum banyak dilakukan pada penelitian sebelumnya.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ mathematical literacy in solving PISA problems, particularly in the space and shape domain. The research approach used is a qualitative approach. This type of research is qualitative descriptive approach. The study involved 27 ninth-grade students from one of Junior High School (JHS) in Kota Jambi. Data were collected through a written test using items adopted from the 2012 PISA Mathematics Released Problems, complemented by interviews to gain deeper insights. The results revealed that students’ mathematical literacy abilities were categorized into high, medium, and low levels. The results show that most students demonstrate low mathematical literacy skills. Based on the three indicators of mathematical literacy, students in the high-ability category were able to formulate mathematical models, employ geometric concepts appropriately, and interpret the results within the given context. Students in the medium category were able to perform correct procedures but were unable to derive meaningful conclusions, while students in the low category experienced difficulties in all indicators. These findings indicate that students’ mathematical literacy skills in geometry remain limited, particularly in reasoning and interpreting results. Therefore, learning activities that facilitate reasoning and provide more PISA-like tasks are needed to help strengthen students’ mathematical literacy, especially in space and shape problems. Future research may also explore the use of locally contextualized PISA-like tasks to provide students with more meaningful and relatable problem situations.
