Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the education sector. This can be seen in the shift in the education system from offline to online learning at all levels of education. Elementary schools are one of the educational institutions that implement the online learning system. Indeed, this affects the student's learning interests as they are required to learn from home. This study used the qualitative description method. This study aims to identify the student's learning interests during the implementation of online learning. The results of the study showed that the students tended to have lower learning interests during the pandemic. This condition was influenced by boredom and a lack of monitoring from teachers and parents during the learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe students' critical thinking skills in realistic-based. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were students of Elementary School Teacher Education, FKIP, Satya Wacana Christian University in mathematics courses. The data collection technique in this study was a test of students' critical thinking skills. The results of the critical thinking test were analyzed by describing the students' critical thinking skills in the fraction operation. Based on the results of the study, it is known that: 1) students of elementary school teacher candidates need to improve their ability to generalize in teaching addition, subtraction and division arithmetic operations with the same denominator; 2) students need assistance and improvement in their ability to analyze the addition and multiplication count operations with the same denominator; 3)students need assistance and increase their ability to generalize to the addition and subtraction of fractions with different denominators, 4) Students need assistance in improving their ability to analyze multiplication and division counting operations on different denominators.

Abstract

This will have an impact on the lack of character of honesty. This research is a quasi-experimental study, with a non-equivalent pretest posttest control group design. This research involved one control class group, and one experimental class group. The research was conducted in class IV A and IV B  Elementary School in Yogyakarta city. Data collection instrument for the character variables of Honesty with a self-assessment scale, to measure the character of honesty. Data analysis used the Independent T Test statistic. The results showed that there were differences between the experimental class and the control class in terms of achieving the characters of honesty. The use of effective character-based worksheets on the honesty character of fourth grade elementary school students. This is evidenced by the results of the experimental class significance test of 0.047 greater than 0.05.

Abstract

The study aims to examine the Influence of Differentiated Learning Strategies by Paying Attention to Different Learning Styles of Students to Improve Science Learning Outcomes. The study was conducted at SDN 2 Sanggrahan in grade VI students. The sampling technique used the purposive sampling area method. The study used a quasi-experimental design with data collection techniques through post-tests in the form of multiple choice and descriptive questions, observation, documentation and interviews. The data obtained were analyzed using statistical tests including normality tests, Data Analysis using Paired Sample t-Test. Based on the Validity Test, the results showed r = 0.82 α> (0.05) so that all question items showed valid results. Reliability test if the value of α> 0.738 the value is reliable, namely 0.789 Then the results of the normality test of the learning outcome value of 0.389> α (0.05) exceed the significant value, then the variable value is normally distributed, continued using the Paired Sample t-Test, the results of the t-test learning outcomes at a sig value of 0.00 <α (0.05) then reject H0. So it can be concluded that there is an Influence of Differentiated Learning Strategies by Paying Attention to Different Learning Styles of Students to Improve Science Learning Outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and implement a multicultural education program in Science and Social learning in elementary schools to shape students' characters according to the learner profile of Pancasila, especially in terms of tolerance and mutual cooperation. The ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) approach was used in designing this program. The results showed a significant increase in students' understanding of the values of tolerance and mutual cooperation, as seen from the comparison of pre-test and post-test scores. Students showed a more active and open attitude towards differences, while teachers felt the program helped enrich learning. The evaluation also indicated that the program needs to be adapted for different abilities of students. In conclusion, this multicultural education program proved to be effective in shaping character according to the values of Pancasila and deserves to be implemented more widely.

Abstract

The coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak which has hit countries worldwide, presents its educational landscape challenges, especially elementary schools. Therefore, online learning requires the availability of various learning facilities and infrastructure that support online learning, for example, electronic devices and internet connections. This situation makes teachers and students learn to recognize and apply various kinds of technology in online learning. Teachers and students must also be familiar with observing, exploring and playing with technology in their learning and daily activity. This study aims to identify and analyze instructional media that need to be developed and optimized for fifth-grade students in Elementary School. This research implemented a mixed-method design with a qualitative and quantitative approach and the explanatory model. We distributed a questionnaire towards 121 students through Google Forms and also interviewed nine teachers and nine students. We found that: (1) regarding needs for the development instructional media to improve reading comprehension skills, 45% teachers agreed that it was very necessary and 64% students agreed that it was necessary, (2) regarding interest towards electronic story calendar media, 56% teachers agreed that it was interesting and 49% students agreed that it was very interesting, and (3) regarding needs for the development of electronic story calendar media about the national hero, 56% teachers agreed that it was very necessary and 50% students agreed that it was necessary.

Abstract

Learning activities carried out online have several drawbacks. In online learning activities, teachers experience problems carrying out learning activities. These obstacles include the lack of appropriate media to be used in learning activities. The problems that occur indicate that in learning activities students have difficulty in understanding learning materials and learning motivation is still low. Therefore, in learning activities, teachers must prepare quality learning. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is through the use of appropriate learning media. So that it can improve the process and better learning outcomes. This study uses a research and development (R&D) approach. The purpose of this research is to develop learning technology in the form of interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning. The steps used in this research and development is the ADDIE development model. The research data was obtained through a media validation sheet instrument by an expert. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively descriptively. The results of the media feasibility test based on the validation results obtained a value of 80%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning is feasible to be used in learning activities. The results of this study imply that the use of interactive multimedia based on problem-based learning plays an important role in the effectiveness of learning activities.
