This study is entitled “The Translation of Taboo Words in the Deadpool 2 Movie Subtitleâ€. This study aimed at describing the types of taboo words found in the Deadpool 2 movie and analyzing the translation procedures applied in translating the taboo words from English subtitle text into Indonesian. The data sources of this study were the Deadpool 2 movie subtitle, both its English and Indonesian versions. The descriptive qualitative method was applied in analyzing the data. The taboo words were analyzed using Jay’s theory about the types of taboo words. Meanwhile, the theory proposed by Vinay and Dalbernet was used to describe the translation procedure in translating taboo words into Indonesian. The results of the study show that not all types of taboo words and translation procedures were found. Through the analysis of taboo words obscenity was the most type of taboo word shown in the movie and there were only two translation procedures applied in translating the taboo words.

The aims of this study is to find out the types of language style and find out the dominant types of language style used by the main characters in Green Book Movie. The data were taken from the movie entitled Green Book. The data were collected by documentation and note-taking techniques. This study used mixed method for analyzing the data. The data were analyzed using theory of language style proposed by Martin Joos (1967) and the theory of factors influence the used of language style by Holmes (1992) as support theory. In presenting the data, this study applied both formal and informal techniques and methods. The result of the study shows that is found twenty data of language style that used by the main characters and all types of language style were can found in the movie used by the main characters. While each of the characters not used one out of five types of language style. The dominant type of language style is casual style which was used by an actor named Tony Lip. Meanwhile, the factor that influences the use of language style are setting, participant and function.

This study is aimed to identify the figurative language and to analyze the meaning found on Ed Sheeran’s Song Lyrics. The data sources were four Ed Sheeran’s songs namely Photograph, Thinking Out Loud, Afire Love, and Dive taken from YouTube for the audios and a website called genius.com for the lyrics. The data were collected through documentation method and note-taking technique. Descriptive-qualitative method was applied to analyze the data using theory of figurative language by Knickerbocker and Reninger and theory of meaning by Leech. The result of the study shows that there are 6 kinds of figurative language found, namely simile, metaphor, personification, synecdoche, hyperbole, and irony. The lyrics containing figurative expression show implied meanings that can be classified into connotative and affective. The meanings found are about love, sadness, and awareness of each other.

This research entitled Slang words and Contextualization in Venom: Let There Be Carnage Movie, aimed to discuss the types of slang words and the contextualization the use of the slang word in the movie. The undergraduate thesis analysed the used of slang words in the conversations regarding the types and the contextualization of slang words. This research used the theory types of slang proposed by Allan and Burridge (2006) and the theory contextualization of slang proposed by Gumperz (1992) for the main theory. For the supporting theory used theory of sociolinguistics by Un Nisa (2019). The data of this study are from the utterances, words, and conversation occurred in the movie, in the form of slang words uttered by the characters dialogues. The analysed was use descriptive qualitative method. The results found that there were 5 slang words in the movie types and contextualization of slang, namely: Fresh and Creative, Flippant, Imitate, Acronym and Clipping. The result after analysing the movie, there were fourty six data in types and contextualization of slang. In the types and contextualization of slang, the highest type was flippant slang type and the lowest was acronym type.

The research titled “Examining Social Dynamics by Using Slang expressions in The Movie Scripts Entitled Barbie” adopts a qualitative approach to scrutinize the slang utilized by characters in the Barbie Movie, aiming to dissect the social dynamics depicted in the script. The study's main objective is to classify the diverse slang terms and comprehend their effect on the characters' social interactions and bonds. Employing Chapman’s (1988) classification of primary and secondary slang, the study organizes the slang found in the screenplay. It probes into how these terms influence character evolution, social ties, cultural variety, identity, and self-assertion. This examination underscores the role of slang in enriching thematic representation and advancing the movie's storyline. The results indicate that slang in "Barbie" serves beyond mere colloquialisms; it's a strategic narrative device that deepens character depiction and accentuates the intricate social interplay within the plot. The research deduces that slang is pivotal in crafting the movie's social milieu, offering profound insight into the personas and their interrelations, thereby enriching the audience's grasp of the cultural and societal contexts portrayed in the film.

This study aimed to identify the features of women's language used by the female characters of the Cruella movie. The types of women's language features were identified based on the theory proposed by Coates (2013). The data of this study were taken from the female characters’ speech in the movie through observation and documentation methods. Screenshot and note-taking techniques were also used in the process of collecting the data in order to maintain the detail and accuracy of the data. The collected data were classified into the category of women's language features and analysed descriptively using qualitative research methods. The research findings were presented in the form of conversation from the data chosen that presented above the analyzing description. The results of this study showed that the female characters used all types of women's language in the movie Cruella, including; minimal responses, questions, hedges, tag questions, swearing and taboo language, compliments, and commands and directives.

Positive politeness tends to minimize social distance, meanwhile negative politeness expands the social distance, however still showing respect behavior towards the interlocutor. The aim of this study is to find out positive politeness strategies used by the main character in The Perfect Date movie. The data of this study were taken from a movie and the script entitled The Perfect Date Movie. This study used the observation and note taking as a technique of collecting data. The method used to analyze the data in this study was qualitative method. This study was conducted based on politeness theory proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987). The result of this study showed that all the fifteen strategies are used by the characters in the movie. Almost all politeness strategies used in the main characters' utterances. That is because the interlocutors of the main characters in the film are mostly family, schoolmates, and people of the same age as the speakers.

In arrange to progress the capacity of tuning in comprehension, it's essential for English learners to be presented with a few essential Pragmatics speculations. Grice's Conversational Implicature Hypothesis is one of the foremost imperative substance of Pragmatics . This study aims to analyse the short conversations in the listening comprehension of TOEFL test from the perspective of pragmatics. Hence, this study was done to identify EFL learners’ capability in comprehending and producing implicature. Data were analysed using the theory of Conversational Maxims proposed by Grice (1975). The researcher applied a descriptive qualitative research method using survey and interviews method for data collection in EFL classroom. The participants of this research were three classes in Bali International Polytechnic consisting of 30 students. The data was collected through assigning a listening comprehension test and further interviews on Bali International Polytechnic students. The study found only few students who get the score above 80, lacking tuning in comprehension ought to mostly account for the blunders made in these questions, but through the examination, the most reason is the students' trouble in inducing the speaker's verifiable meaning. Most of the students found the difficulties in comprehending the implied meaning or conventional implicatures. There are five difficult aspects of understanding listening test namely conversational implicature knowledge, idiomatic expression, lack of vocabulary, need of concentration, and new accent. Encourage, the part of conversational impersonation in tuning in comprehension of the TOEFL test is exceptionally critical. Grice's conversational implicature can be adjusted to the instructing of tuning in by giving both speakers and understudies with a way of how specific articulation implications are passed on and decoded in particular settings of circumstance. In this way, the discoveries demonstrate that the English learners ought to ace the hypothesis of Grice's Conversational Implicature, learn how to induce implicature to direct their learning and lead in such hypotheses in tuning in comprehension.

The aim of the study is to examine the representative of critic in CDA and the hidden meaning in BTS Commencement Speech in Dear Class of 2020. The analysis of this research based on theory of CDA and its analysis methods which were represented by Van Dijk. Whereas the discussion used descriptive qualitative research method which deals with data that are in the form of word, rather than statistics and attempts to arrive at a rich description of something systematically. It starts by analyzing the represented critic on the text and separated them into an expression from each data. Then, it is continued by analyzing the hidden meaning of the text. Since it is a critical discourse, therefore those features are analyzed critically. The result shows that CDA can explore the relationships among language, power, ando ideology. Through the language used, it can be known the strength of power and the purpose of the speaker, which the power is strongly felt and the ideology is clearly seen as well as understandable.

This study aims to know the relation of Balinese cultures with the animal and plant lexicons in Balinese songs from the perspective of eco-linguistics. The data from this study were collected from YouTube. Listening and documentation methods along with transcription techniques were applied to collect the data. The animal and plant lexicons found were subsequently analyzed using the method of descriptive-qualitative with the help of Bang and Døør’s theory of dialectical eco-linguistics and the eco-linguistics parameters from Fill and Muhlhausler. The result of this study shows that the animal and plant lexicons used resulted from the co-existence of Balinese people and other species in their environment. The lexicons are inserted into the songs through the concept of metaphor. The co-existence makes Balinese people able to give meanings towards the animal and plant in the song based on their cultures and beliefs.
