Abstract

After a long struggle against Covid-19 for more than a year, the spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia gradually decreased and was considerably under control. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy made 20 tourist attractions for trial, including the Borobudur temple, the world’s largest Buddhist temple. It is carried out cautiously and under strict health protocols procedure. Implementing health protocol regulations was encouraged by making and placing many protocol signs in strategic places. The aim of this study was to identify and investigate the compositions meaning of the COVID-19 prevention sign at Borobudur Temple. The data were collected through the documentation method with photographic technique. The result showed that all signs have real and ideal information value. Salience signs appear as a result of a variety of fascinating text and images. The framing of the sign is presented in centered/circular with a linear and nonlinear composition. Overall, the signs proved the management of Borobudur temple’s strong commitment to opening the site with strict protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the Borobudur area.

Abstract

Cultural tourism is the largest industry in the world and the fastest-growing sector. This has caused many cultural heritages in the form of temples to be used as tourist attractions, including the Puncak Penulisan Temple in Sukawana Village. Based on the background of this problem, this research aims to (1) analyze the process of commodification Puncak Penulisan Temple, (2) understand the ideology behind the commodification of Puncak Penulisan Temple, and (3) examine the implications of the commodification of Puncak Penulisan Temple. Abstract

The art of Local culture will be more meaningful because of being able to push the spirit of love with the pluralism toward human's life and universe. Meanwhile, media technology as the physical result of culture that lacks spiritual values ??if compared to custom, religion and art will lose its function to increase human's life quality. Values, norms and ethics contained in customary rules that are reflected in art of culture are indeed useful references in the globalization era. This research used qualitative data that were then analyzed descriptively. According to Alvin Boskoff's thought, it shows that factors becoming challenges for local culture are the change of cultural value systems in society and the death of traditional art forms in several areas in Nusantara caused by technology in the global era. The art of Local culture is one of components that gives Indonesian identity as a special community that exists among nations in this world. Therefore it is necessary to grow awareness particularly in young generations in order to comprehend more about their culture by empowering local wisdom growing in the cultural areas of whole Nusantara. Abstract

This study critically examines the intertextual transformation from the Balinese Kidung Jerum Kundangdia to Oka Rusmini's Novel Jerum (2019), focusing on how this dialogue articulates women's emotional resistance against patriarchal constraints. It addresses a gap in understanding how traditional Nusantara narratives can be dynamically reinterpreted to foreground female subjectivity and agency. Employing a qualitative approach grounded in Riffaterre's semiotics, the research identifies the kidung as the generative hypogram. It traces how Rusmini's novel utilizes the shared matrix of satya (loyalty) while foregrounding semara (passionate love) as a model for emotional expression and resistance. Data, derived from close textual analysis and archival documentation of both primary sources, were analyzed through thematic content analysis and feminist discourse analysis. The findings demonstrate that Jerum critically reorients reader empathy towards the protagonist Ni Jerum's suppressed inner life, repositioning her as an active agent challenging societal norms. Simultaneously, the novel revitalizes core motifs from the kidung tradition for contemporary gender discourse. This research significantly contributes to Nusantara literary and gender studies by illustrating the dynamic reciprocity between source text and adaptation. It affirms the power of intertextual strategies within local traditions to advocate for women's emotional legitimacy and resistance, enriching the treasury of text-based gender analysis in the region.
