Abstract

The banana chip business in Ledokombo Village, Jember Regency, is one of the sources of livelihood for the local community. However, increasingly fierce business competition has led to a decrease in demand and has an impact on declining turnover of MSME actors. Marketing that is still conventional is one of the factors limiting product reach. This community service activity aims to increase the marketing capacity of MSME actors through digital marketing training. The training was carried out for four weeks with stages: problem analysis, provision of branding and digital marketing materials, assistance in making packaging labels, marketplace accounts (Shopee) and social media (Instagram), as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of the activity show that MSME actors understand the importance of digital marketing strategies, are able to create "The King" product packaging labels, and have Shopee and Instagram accounts that are actively used for online sales. Business actors are also getting used to operating digital application features that support the marketing process. This activity has a positive impact on increasing product attractiveness and expanding consumer reach. Thus, digital marketing training has proven to be effective as an innovative solution in facing MSME marketing challenges, as well as being a model for local economic empowerment that can be replicated in other regions with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Mas Kirana’s banana is a germplasm as well as an icon of Lumajang District, East Java Province. Mas Kirana bananas are designated as Indonesian genetic resources based on the Decree of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 516/Kpts/SR.120/12/2005. This study aims to formulate a pattern of business capital formation and development strategy for Mas Kirana banana commodity as an effort to preserve Indonesia's germplasm. Data collection was done by structured interview method. Determination of the sample is done by snowball sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative descriptive methods and Force Field Analysis (FFA). The results showed that the pattern of capital business capital formation for Mas Kirana's banana consisted of family capital, financial institution capital, non-financial institutional capital, and personal capital. The identification process resulted in 7 (seven) driving factors and 7 (seven) inhibiting factors for Mas Kirana banana development. Key Success Factors (FKK) for developing Mas Kirana Banana Farmers Groups on the driving factor dimension are the Mas Kirana Banana commodity which has a comparative advantage and is certified Geographically Indication (GI), while the inhibiting factor dimension is the weakness of farmer resources in managing and developing group finances. Based on the FKK value of the driving and inhibiting factors, the recommended strategy is farmer institutional engineering through the formation of the Mas Kirana banana farmer cooperative.

Abstract

Farmers' attitudes and perspectives towards risk will be reflected in their decision-making and will be related to risk aversion levels. Recognizing farmers' attitudes towards risk will be beneficial in providing innovative product development according to farmers' needs. The development of a farmer protection system against risks has been carried out by the Indonesian government in the form of Rice Farming Insurance (AUTP). This study aims to analyze risk aversion level (RAL) and measure its relationship to farmers' economic well-being which is illustrated by the income of rice farmers in Wuluhan, Jember Regency. Multiple price list designs were used to analyze RAL and Pearson analysis was employed to measure their correlation. The results showed that farmers tend to show a relatively high level of risk aversion, in which 36.923% of farmers prefer to insure their entire land (option A). Meanwhile, only 2.308% prefer not to insure their land (option F). Pearson correlation value is 0.69, it can be interpreted that an increase in income will be followed by an increase in the RAL value meaning that the level of risk aversion decreases. The research results are useful for policymakers, especially risk in the agricultural sector to determine innovation in optimizing the implementation of AUTP

Abstract

Risk preference in agricultural finance had become a critical research domain as farmers faced increasing exposure to market volatility, climate change, and systemic uncertainties. Research that specifically investigated risk behaviour and preference within agricultural finance remained fragmented and underexplored. Consequently, the intellectual structure, thematic development, and collaborative landscape of this emerging field had not yet been systematically mapped. The study aimed to identify the key contributors, dominant themes, and intellectual foundations. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using Biblioshiny 4.4.1 on 1,496 documents retrieved from the Scopus, covering the period 1975–2025 (24 April 2025). The results showed that publications expanded significantly after 2005, reaching a peak in 2023. Insurance, investment, and sustainability emerged as central research themes, while financial literacy, climate change, and pandemic-related risk appeared as emerging frontiers. Research on agricultural finance and risk preference developed into a multidisciplinary and globally interconnected domain, drawing insights from economics, environmental studies, and behavioral sciences. Future research on risk behaviour in agricultural finance should integrate behavioural insights with digital finance and climate risk modelling while expanding evidence from underrepresented regions such as Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. Stronger linkages between farmer behaviour and policy innovations are essential to advance agricultural finance.

Abstract

Abstract

Agricultural finance plays a crucial role in supporting productivity and sustainability, particularly in tobacco farming, which is characterized by high capital intensity. Although access to formal financial services has been relatively available, its utilization among farmers remains limited due to various technical, social, and psychological barriers. This community service activity aims to identify key constraints in accessing agricultural finance, explore multi-stakeholder perspectives, and formulate adaptive financing solutions tailored to the characteristics of tobacco farming. A participatory approach was employed through a focus group discussion (FGD) involving tobacco farmers, financial institutions, agricultural extension agents, and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The activity was conducted in Jember Regency, one of the major tobacco-producing areas in East Java, Indonesia. The results indicate that barriers to accessing finance are not only structural, such as administrative requirements and collateral limitations, but also psychological factors, including fear of loan default and social stigma associated with formal borrowing. Additionally, financing is often used for household consumption rather than productive activities, reducing its effectiveness in supporting farm performance. From the supply side, financial institutions face high risks due to production uncertainty and price volatility, while regulators emphasize the importance of improving financial literacy among farmers. The FGD facilitated the integration of perspectives among stakeholders, leading to shared understanding and context-specific solutions. This study highlights that enhancing financial inclusion in the agricultural sector requires a collaborative approach, strengthening financial literacy, and developing flexible financing schemes aligned with seasonal farming patterns.
